    Recently, cerebral disease is being a serious problem in an aging society. But, rank evaluation of cerebral disease is not developed and therefore rehabilitation is hard. In this study, we try to assess slight cerebral disease by taking notice of recognition mechanism of face and realizing face image synthesis using computer technology. If we can find a slight cerebral disease and rank evaluation, we can apply to rehabilitation, and a load of medical doctor and patient decreases. We have obtained a result by the experiment, so we report it.

  • A Method to Divide Targets into the Stratified Depth from a Single Image

    The diverse broadcast means that will be available in the future will cause an increased demand for programs. When the input of the posture of an agent is used to manipulate a virtual computer graphics actor, it is better if the system does not require a special studio and devices. In the present paper, we propose a way to extract images from a single picture based on estimates of blooming. This is done using a partial auto-correlation analysis that carries out backward and forward predictions simultaneously. And, we divide targets into the stratified depth from a single image. An experiment was conducted using a picture taken with a digital camera, and satisfactory results were obtained.

    At present, in the Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) field, research continues In-The-Vehicle Communication (ITVC), Inter-Vehicle Communication (IVC), Road-to-Vehicle Communication (RVC), etc. All information communications technology, especially radio-communications technology, was applied. For example, wireless 1394 is used in ITVC, millimeter-wave communication is used in IVC, and Radio on Fiber (ROF) communication technology is used in RVC. However, it is actually very difficult to design for and accommodate all of these systems. This research, to simplify a design, equipment, structure, etc. of ITCV, IVC, and RVC, utilizes a wireless Bluetooth technology system which is the global radio-communications standard which is capturing the spotlight from various fields. In recent years, demand for a radio-communications service which can be used anywhere is increasing. Furthermore, demand for information service by the Internet is also increasing. This paper proposes simulation of Bluetooth wireless communication for ITS field such as ITVC, IVC and RVC system combined to the global Internet connection. Of course, there are many aspects should be thought carefully when the simulation system will be applied to the ITS infrastructures later. On this paper we have been designing the whole system and the evaluation of the simulation have been testing carefully.

  • Assessment of Drinking Condition as Preliminary Stage for Rank Evaluation of Cerebral Disease

    Aging is progressing in our country. Cerebral disease poses a serious problem. Viewing this problem objectively, we can say that support of aging and cerebral disease patients is a useful research theme. To the present, we have done rank evaluation of cerebral disease using synthetic face picture images. This study assesses cognitive ability and expression control ability for intoxication, which is known to impair thinking, cognition, and memory ability. We also examine correspondence of intoxication to cerebral disease. Measurement of cognitive ability corresponds to observation of an internal condition; the measurement of expression control ability corresponds to observation of an external condition. In measurement of cognitive ability, we simulated early stage symptoms of vascular dementia in the second stage of BAC. Also, decreased cognitive ability occurs from the first stage of BAC on face recognition to figure and language. Moreover, face test results show significant difference between decrease in the first stage of BAC and one in the second stage of BAC. These results indicate the possibility of rank evaluation and early stage detection of vascular dementia using a face picture image. From measurement of expression control ability, we obtained the result that we can judge whether a subject has reached second stage of BAC by observing an expression's strength of smile. The second stage of BAC shows symptoms similar to those of vascular dementia. We found the possibility that smile is valid as one externally-observable index for detection of cerebral disease.

  • An IEEE802.15.4-Based System for Locating Children on Their School Commutes

    With the increasing number of crimes and accidents in which children are becoming involved, there is a growing demand for devices to safeguard children's security by detecting their locations on their way to and from school. This paper proposes a system that uses an IEEE802.15.4-standard network to detect children's locations. To overcome the susceptibility of radio interference from nearby wireless LANs, frequency division multiplexing is applied to this IEEE802.15.4-based network, toward improving data acquisition from terminal units. The effectiveness of the system was field-tested with elementary school students who used about 400 IEEE 802.15.4-compliant terminal units. An experiment verified that the use of frequency division multiplexing in an environment where radio interference by wireless LANs is strong allowed the network to double the success rate of information communication from terminal units relative to that without frequency division multiplexing. In the experiment for detecting elementary schoolers' arrival at and departure from school, the terminal detection rate was 99% and the terminal detection rate on the designated school routes was 90%. These results prove the effectiveness of the system in detecting locations.

  • An Amplitude Limiting CDM by Using Majority Logic

    This study proposes an amplitude limiting type spread spectrum communication to be applied to extremely low power radio wave communicaion and evaluates capability of the code division multiplex. First, changes in output from the correlation device, maximum power, and in allowable noise power are compared by computer simulation for the case where the number of multiplex channels is increased. Second, possible relationship between noise intensity and error rate is measured by actual loading experiments using a device developed for trial purpose. Third, majority decision logic is proposed for the said device to realize amplitude limiting type code division multiplex easily. When the amplitude is limited, the maximum power can be controlled at about 2 dB, and channels with more than half of the number of spread sign can be used. It is revealed that, in the spread spectrum, alteration of the number of multiplex channels is made easy by application of this method.
