The extraction of verb synonyms is a key technology to build a verb dictionary as a language resource. This paper presents a co-clustering-based verb synonym extraction approach that increases the number of extracted meanings of polysemous verbs from a large text corpus. For verb synonym extraction with a clustering approach dealing with polysemous verbs can be one problem issue because each polysemous verb should be categorized into different clusters depending on each meaning; thus there is a high possibility of failing to extract some of the meanings of polysemous verbs. Our proposed approach can extract the different meanings of polysemous verbs by recursively eliminating the extracted clusters from the initial data set. The experimental results of verb synonym extraction show that the proposed approach increases the correct verb clusters by about 50% with a 0.9% increase in precision and a 1.5% increase in recall over the previous approach.

This paper considers a motion planning method for humanoid robots. First, we review a modular state net which is a state net representing behavior of a part of the humanoid robots. Each whole body motion of the humanoid robots is represented by a combination of modular state nets for those parts. In order to obtain a feasible path of the whole body, a timed Petri net is used as an abstracted model of a set of all modular state nets. Next, we show an algorithm for constructing nonlinear dynamics which describes a periodic motion. Finally, we extend the state net in order to represent primitive periodic motions and their transition relation so that we can generate a sequence of primitive periodic motions satisfying a specified task.

An antenna and multi-carrier combined diversity system using Time Division Duplex (TDD) is proposed to combat with multi-path channel problem which produces frequency-selective fading and degrades the quality of signal transimission. So far multi-carrier modulation technique has been studied to solve this problem. On the other hand, TDD method has been studied to use a transmitter antenna diversity as pre-diversity against flat fading (non-selective fading). Our proposed system merges these two methods in a micro-cellular system as follows. On the reverse link, the base station can select the best combination between the carriers and antennas after receiving the multi-carrier signal from the mobile station. On the forward link, the same combination selected on the reverse link can be used to send the signal from the base station with multi-antenna to the mobile station with a single antenna and produces pre-diversity (transmitter diversity) effect which can reduce the complexity at the mobile station. The pre-diversity must be based on TDD function because the channel has to be observed before the signal transimission. By computer simulations we find that our proposed system can achieve far better performance than conventional systems.
