Actuator operation in a liquid is described using vibration motion on the side surface of a cylindrical piezoelectric vibrator. A foam urethan layer is indispensable for the suppression of the acoustic energy radiation into the liquid. An ultrasonic motor in water is demonstrated successfully.
The position-sensitive photovoltage is observed in a device construction composed of a Pb2CrO5 thin film and a pair of Au planar electrodes. An observed linear relation between the photovoltage and the light beam position might be useful for sensing the light beam position.
Photovoltaic properties of a Pb2CrO5 ceramic disk with a pair of planar electrodes are described. Open circuit photovoltage of the devices with Au or Ag electrodes is shown as functions of the light intensity and the wavelength, which is related with a metal-semiconductor contact.
