In this letter, delay-dependent stability criterion for linear time-delay systems with multiple time varying delays is proposed by employing the Lyapunov-Krasovskii functional approach and integral inequality. By the N-segmentation of delay length, we obtain less conservative results on the delay bounds which guarantee the asymptotic stability of the linear time-delay systems with multiple time varying delays. Simulation results show that the proposed stability criteria are less conservative than several other existing criteria.

A new method of explicitly adaptive time delay estimation (EATDE) algorithm is proposed for estimating a varying time delay parameter. The proposed method is based on the Haar wavelet transform of cross-correlations. The proposed algorithm can be viewed as a gradient-based optimization of lowpass filtered cross-correlations, but requires less computational power. The algorithm shows a global convergence property for wide-band signals with uncorrelated noises. A convergence analysis including mean behavior, mean-square-error behavior, and steady-state error of delay estimate is given. Simulation results are also provided to demonstrate the performance of the proposed algorithm.

This paper presents an adaptive control design for the ABR traffic congestion control in ATM networks. Firstly, we consider a control-based mathematical model to the ABR traffic congestion control problem. Then the feedback pole placement control design is applied to the ATM ABR traffic congestion control problem for the case of known delays. Finally, by using the online plant parameter estimation algorithm and modifying the controller parameters adaptively in real time, a method to treat the case of unknown time-varying delays is proposed. Several design modifications are introduced to solve practical control issues such as bounded command rate constraint, output buffer saturation and bounded values to the plant parameter estimation algorithm. Simulations are implemented to verify the proposed control design. It is shown that while considering these practical control issues, the control method satisfies the requirements of fairness to users, network efficiency, unknown time-varying delays, queue length control and good convergence performance at an acceptable computation effort.
