It is shown that simple preprocessing on the reference signals in multichannel feedforward ANC system can improve the convergence performance of the adaptive ANC algorithm. A fast and efficient blind preprocessing algorithm in frequency domain is proposed to reduce the computational complexity even that the reference sensors are located far from the noise sources. The permutation problem at different frequency bin is also addressed and solved by an independent vector analysis algorithm. The basic principle and performance comparison are given to verify our conclusion.

In vector analysis, it is important to classify three flow primitives as translation, rotation and divergence. These three primitives can be detected utilizing line integral and surface integral according to the knowledge of vector analysis. In this paper, we introduce a method for extracting these three primitives utilizing edges in an image based on vector analysis, namely edge field analysis. The edge has the information of inclination. However, the edge has no information of the direction unlike vector. Hence, line integral and surface integral can not be directly applied to detect these three primitives utilizing edges. We firstly formulate the problem and describe the algorithm for detecting the three primitives in vector analysis. We then propose an algorithm for estimating three primitives regarding edge image as pseudo-vector field. For illustration, we apply edge field analysis to quasi-motion extraction and feature extraction. We also show the experimental results in terms of estimating the center of the flowers, the cell body of neuron, the eye of the storm, the center of the explosion and so on.

A multiple-source system for rendering the sound pressure distribution in a target region can be modeled as a multi-input-multi-output (MIMO) system with the inputs being the source strengths and the outputs being the pressures on multiple measuring points/sensors. In this paper, we propose a target-oriented acoustic radiation generation technique (TARGET) for sound field control. For the MIMO system of a given geometry, a series of basic radiation modes, namely, target-oriented radiation modes (TORMs) can be derived using eigenvector analysis. Different TORMs have different contributions to the system control gain, which is defined as the ratio of the acoustic energy generated in the target zone to the transmitter output power. The TARGET can be effectively applied to the sound reproduction and suppression, which correspond the generations of bright and dark zone respectively. In acoustically bright zone generation and sound beamforming, the highest-gain TORM can be employed to determine the optimal source strengths. In active noise control, the strengths of the secondary sources can be derived using low-gain TORMs. Simulation results show that the proposed method has better or comparable performance than the traditional techniques.
