Amidst conflicting views about whether soft cooperative energy detection scheme (SCEDS) outperforms hard cooperative energy detection scheme (HCEDS) greatly in cognitive radio, we establish the bridge that mathematically connects SCEDS and HCEDS by closed approximations. Through this bridge, it is demonstrate that, if the number of detectors of HCEDS is 1.6 times as that of SCEDS, they have nearly the same performance which is confirmed by numerical simulations, enabling a quantitative evaluation of the relation between them and a resolution of the conflicting views.

This paper presents an inter-satellite link (ISL) reassignment method to optimize the snapshot routing performance for polar-orbit LEO satellite networks. When the snapshot routing tables are switching simultaneously in all satellites, we propose to reassign the inter-plane ISLs with regularity to improve the quality of the next snapshot, such as snapshot duration, on-board transceiver utilization ratio and end to end delay. Evaluations indicate that our method can attain equal-length snapshots regardless of the latitude of the polar area border, and so is superior to the natural partition method. Meanwhile, compared with the equal partition method which is used in the Iridium system, our method can prolong 82.87% snapshot duration, increase 8.68% on-board transceiver utilization ratio and reduce 5.30% average end to end delay of the whole network. Therefore, we believe that the ISL reassignment method can be efficiently applied in all practical polar-orbit LEO satellite networks.

In this paper, a novel design of planar dual-band multi-way lossless power dividers (PDs), namely Bagley Polygon PDs, is presented. The proposed PDs use Π-type dual-band transformers as basic elements, whose design formulas are analyzed and simplified to a concise form. The equivalent circuit of the dual-band Bagley Polygon PD is established, based on which design equations are derived mathematically. After that, the design procedure is demonstrated, and special cases are discussed. To verify the validity of the proposed design, 3-way and 5-way examples are simulated and fabricated at two IMT-Advanced bands of 1.8 GHz and 3.5 GHz, then simulation and measurement results are provided. The presented PDs have good performances on the bandwidths and phase shifts. Furthermore, the planar configuration leads to convenient design procedure and easy fabrication.

The hybrid precoding (HP) technique has been widely considered as a promising approach for millimeter wave communication systems. In general, the existing HP structure with a complicated high-resolution phase shifter network can achieve near-optimal spectral efficiency, however, it involves high energy consumption. The HP architecture with an energy-efficient switch network can significantly reduce the energy consumption. To achieve maximum energy efficiency, this paper focuses on the HP architecture with switch network and considers a novel adaptive analog network HP structure for such mmWave MIMO systems, which can provide potential array gains. Moreover, a multiuser adaptive coordinate update algorithm is proposed for the HP design problem of this new structure. Simulation results verify that our proposed design can achieve better energy efficiency than other recently proposed HP schemes when the number of users is small.

Android occupies a very large market share in the field of mobile devices, and quantities of applications are created everyday allowing users to easily use them. However, privacy leaks on Android terminals may result in serious losses to businesses and individuals. Current permission model cannot effectively prevent privacy data leakage. In this paper, we find a way to protect privacy data on Android terminals from the perspective of privacy information propagation by porting the concept of contextual integrity to the realm of privacy protection. We propose a computational model of contextual integrity suiting for Android platform and design a privacy protection system based on the model. The system consists of an online phase and offline phase; the main function of online phase is to computing the value of distribution norm and making privacy decisions, while the main function of offline phase is to create a classification model that can calculate the value of the appropriateness norm. Based on the 6 million permission requests records along with 2.3 million runtime contextual records collected by dynamic analysis, we build the system and verify its feasibility. Experiment shows that the accuracy of offline classifier reaches up to 0.94. The experiment of the overall system feasibility illustrates that 70% location data requests, 84% phone data requests and 46% storage requests etc., violate the contextual integrity.

Mobile cloud computing (MCC) has been proposed as a new approach to enhance mobile device performance via computation offloading. The growth in cloud computing energy consumption is placing pressure on both the environment and cloud operators. In this paper, we focus on energy-efficient resource management in MCC and aim to reduce cloud operators' energy consumption through resource management. We establish a deterministic resource management model by solving a combinatorial optimization problem with constraints. To obtain the resource management strategy in deterministic scenarios, we propose a deterministic strategy algorithm based on the adaptive group genetic algorithm (AGGA). Wireless networks are used to connect to the cloud in MCC, which causes uncertainty in resource management in MCC. Based on the deterministic model, we establish a stochastic model that involves a stochastic optimization problem with chance constraints. To solve this problem, we propose a stochastic strategy algorithm based on Monte Carlo simulation and AGGA. Experiments show that our deterministic strategy algorithm obtains approximate optimal solutions with low algorithmic complexity with respect to the problem size, and our stochastic strategy algorithm saves more energy than other algorithms while satisfying the chance constraints.

The tens of billions of devices expected to be connected to the Internet will include so many sensors that the demand for sensor-based services is rising. The task of effectively utilizing the enormous numbers of sensors deployed is daunting. The need for automatic sensor identification has expanded the need for research on sensor similarity searches. The Internet of Things (IoT) features massive non-textual dynamic data, which is raising the critical challenge of efficiently and effectively searching for and selecting the sensors most related to a need. Unfortunately, single-attribute similarity searches are highly inaccurate when searching among similar attribute values. In this paper, we propose a group-fitting correlation calculation algorithm (GFC) that can identify the most similar clusters of sensors. The GFC method considers multiple attributes (e.g., humidity, temperature) to calculate sensor similarity; thus, it performs more accurate searches than do existing solutions.

Two adaptive energy detectors are proposed for cognitive radio systems to detect the primary users. Unlike the conventional energy detector (CED) where a decision is made after receiving all samples, our detectors make a decision with the sequential arrival of samples. Hence, the sample size of the proposed detectors is adaptive. Simulation results show that for a desired performance, the average sample size of the proposed detectors is much less than that of the CED. Therefore, they are more agile than the CED.
