In this letter, an improved channel estimator for MIMO-SCBT systems is proposed. Pilot blocks are constructed using quadriphase complementary sequences (QCSs) which enable both one-sided (OSD) and two-sided (TSD) channel estimation (CE). And OSD-CE and TSD-CE are combined to provide improved performance in frequency-selective fast and slow fading channels and to maintain low-complexity implementations. Simulation results demonstrate the performance merits of the proposed scheme.
It is well known that based on the structure of a transversal filter, the RLS equaliser provides the fastest convergence in stationary environments. This paper addresses an adaptive transversal equaliser which has the potential to provide more faster convergence than the RLS equaliser. A comparison is made with respect to computational complexity required for each update of equaliser coefficients, and computer simulations are demonstrated to show the superiority of the proposed equaliser.

We propose a novel adaptive multiple-symbol differential detection (MSDD) scheme that has excellent performance over frequency selective fading (FSF) channels. The adaptive MSDD scheme consists of an adaptive noncoherent least mean square channel estimator that can accomplish channel estimation without any decision delay and the MSDD. The M-algorithm is introduced into this detection scheme to reduce the complication of computation due to increasing observed sequence length in the MSDD. Because of the application of the adaptive channel estimator and the M-algorithm, this adaptive MSDD make it possible that channel estimation is accomplished for every symbol along M surviving paths without any decision delay. And the SER performance of this adaptive MSDD is not affected by phase fluctuation introduced by a channel because the MSDD and the noncoherent channel estimator are applied. The adaptive MSDD scheme is applied to typical constellation of 16APSK, the (4,12) QAM and the star QAM. The excellent tracking performance of this adaptive MSDD scheme over FSF channels is confirmed by computer simulations.

This paper describes a forward subchannel control of multi-carrier scheme intended to compensate for phase/amplitude distortions under frequency selective fading. The forward subchannel control scheme is used for a Time Division Duplex (TDD) multi-carrier system on up-link. The forward subchannel control scheme provides forward subchannel control of phase/amplitude variation and subchannel assignment control. These controls are applied before transmission of an up-link signal. The forward control parameters are estimated by a preamble down-link signal. Simulation results clarify that the BER performance with the forward subchannel control scheme shows a superiority of more than one order at the condition of 22 dB of Eb/N0 and 400 Hz of fading frequency.
