Abstract: Microwave brightness temperatures expected to be measured by MOS-1 MSR over rain are calculated theoretically over the ocean background. The influence of ocean surface wind is evaluated by using a composite rough surface model. An algorithm for rain rate estimation by MOS-1 MSR is developed for each season of a year based on the theoretical calculation.
