Chronic liver disease is a major worldwide health problem. Diagnosis and staging of chronic liver diseases is an important issue. In this paper, we propose a quantitative method of analyzing local morphological changes for accurate and practical computer-aided diagnosis of cirrhosis. Our method is based on sparse and low-rank matrix decomposition, since the matrix of the liver shapes can be decomposed into two parts: a low-rank matrix, which can be considered similar to that of a normal liver, and a sparse error term that represents the local deformation. Compared with the previous global morphological analysis strategy based on the statistical shape model (SSM), our proposed method improves the accuracy of both normal and abnormal classifications. We also propose using the norm of the sparse error term as a simple measure for classification as normal or abnormal. The experimental results of the proposed method are better than those of the state-of-the-art SSM-based methods.

Various incidents expose the vulnerability and fragility of the Internet inter-domain routing, and highlight the need for further efforts in developing new approaches to evaluating the trustworthiness of routing information. Based on collections of BGP routing information, we disclose a variety of anomalies and malicious attacks and demonstrate their potential impacts on the Internet security. This paper proposes a systematic approach to detecting the anomalies in inter-domain routing, combining effectively spatial-temporal multiple-view method, knowledge-based method, and cooperative verification method, and illustrates how it helps in alleviating the routing threats by taking advantage of various measures. The main contribution of our approach lies on critical techniques including the construction of routing information sets, the design of detection engines, the anomaly verification and the encouragement mechanism for collaboration among ASs. Our approach has been well verified by our Internet Service Provider (ISP) partners and has been shown to be effective in detecting anomalies and attacks in inter-domain routing.

Image boundary detection or image segmentation is an important step in image analysis. However, choosing appropriate parameters for boundary detection algorithms is necessary to achieve good boundary detection results. Image boundary detection fusion with unsupervised parameters can output a final consensus boundary, which is generally better than using unsupervised or supervised image boundary detection algorithms. In this study, we theoretically examine why image boundary detection fusion can work well and we propose a mixture model for image boundary detection fusion (MMIBDF) to achieve good consensus segmentation in an unsupervised manner. All of the segmentation algorithms are treated as new features and the segmentation results obtained by the algorithms are the values of the new features. The MMIBDF is designed to sample the boundary according to a discrete distribution. We present an inference method for MMIBDF and describe the corresponding algorithm in detail. Extensive empirical results demonstrate that MMIBDF significantly outperforms other image boundary detection fusion algorithms and the base image boundary detection algorithms according to most performance indices.

In this paper, we propose a new localization algorithm and improve the DV-Hop algorithm by using a differential error correction scheme that is designed to reduce the location error accumulated over multiple hops. This scheme needs no additional hardware support and can be implemented in a distributed way. The proposed method can improve location accuracy without increasing communication traffic and computing complexity. Simulation results show the performance of the proposed algorithm is superior to that of the DV-Hop algorithm.

In this letter, we investigate a design of efficient antenna allocation at the full duplex receiver (FDR) in a multi-input multi-output multi-eavesdropper (MIMOME) wiretap channel for physical layer security improvement. Specifically, we propose the allocation which are feasible for the practical scenario with self-interference (SI) taken into account, because the jamming signals from FDR not only confuse the eavesdropper but also inevitably cause SI at the FDR. Due to the nolinear and coupling of the antenna allocation optimization problem, we transform the original problem into an integer programming problem. Then, we derive the optimal solution and the corresponding beamforming matrices in closed-form by means of combining spatial alignment and null-space projection method. Furthermore, we present the feasibility condition and full-protection condition, which offer insight into principles that enable more efficient and effective use of FDR in the wiretap channel for security improvement. From the simulation results, we validate the theoretical analysis and demonstrate the outstanding performance of the proposed antennas allocation at FDR.
