In this paper we study the ploblem whether the language D(1) of all d-primitive words can be generated by a contextual grammar. It is proved that D(1) can be generated neither by an external contextual grammar nor by an internal contextual grammar, and that it can be generated by a total contextual grammar with choice.
Let Q be the set of all primitive words over a finite alphabet having at least two letters. In this paper, we study the language D(1) of all non-overlapping (d-primitive) words, which is a proper subset of Q. We show that D(1) is a context-sensitive langauage but not a deterministic context-free language. Further it is shown that [D(1)]n is not regular for n ≥ 1.

A MOSFET structure with non-overlapped source-drain to gate region is proposed to overcome the challenges in sub-0.1 µm CMOS device. Key device characteristics were investigated by extensive simulation study. Fringing gate electric field through the dielectric spacer induces inversion layer in the non-overlap region to act as extended S/D region. Electrons were induced reasonably under the spacer. Internal physics and speed characteristics were studied with the non-overlap distance. The proposed structure had good subthreshold slope and DIBL characteristics compared to those of overlapped structure.

A compact new test structure using shift register circuits for extracting components of the capacitance matrix of the multi-layer interconnections has been proposed. An extraction method of the capacitance matrix is also presented. As a result of fabrication, capacitance values obtained by measurement are in good agreement with the numerical calculation. We also showed an estimation method of the measurement errors.
