Integral equation method is used to compute three-dimension-structure capacitance in this paper. Since some multi-conductor structures present regular periodic property, the periodic cell is used to reduce the computational domain with adding appropriate magnetic and electric walls. The periodic Green's function in the integral equation method is represented in the form of infinite series with slow convergence. In this paper, Shanks transformation is used to accelerate the convergence. Numerical examples show that the proposed method is accurate with a much higher efficiency in capacitance extraction for 3-D periodic structures.

This paper proposes a new parameter estimation method for the MIMO-OFDM MAP receiver with spatial-temporal filters. The proposed method employs eigenvalue decomposition (EVD) so as to attain precise estimates especially under interference-limited conditions in MIMO-OFDM mobile communications. Recursive EVD is introduced to reduce the computational complexity compared to the nonrecursive EVD. The spatial-temporal prewhitening is placed prior to FFT because this arrangement is superior to that of conventional prewhitening posterior to FFT in accuracy of the parameter estimation. In order to improve tracking capability to fast fading, the proposed scheme applies a decision-directed algorithm to the parameter estimation by using log-likelihood ratios of coded bits. Computer simulations demonstrate that the proposed scheme can track fast fading and reduce the complexity to 18 percents of the conventional one, and that the spatial-temporal filtering prior to FFT outperforms the conventional one posterior to FFT.

This paper designs the closed-form precoding matrices for non-regenerative MIMO relay system with the direct link. A multiple power constrained non-convex optimization problem is formulated by using the minimum-mean-squared error (MMSE) criterion. We decompose the original problem into two sub-problems. The relay transceiver Wiener filter structure is first rigorously derived, then the source transmit and destination receive matrices are jointly designed by solving an equivalent dual problem. Through our proposed joint iterative algorithm, the closed-form solutions can be finally obtained. The effectiveness of our proposed scheme is validated by simulations with comparison to some of the existing schemes.

This letter presents a new inter-cluster proximity index for fuzzy partitions obtained from the fuzzy c-means algorithm. It is defined as the average proximity of all possible pairs of clusters. The proximity of each pair of clusters is determined by the overlap and the separation of the two clusters. The former is quantified by using concepts of Fuzzy Rough sets theory and the latter by computing the distance between cluster centroids. Experimental results indicate the efficiency of the proposed index.

The ideal point scattering model requires that each scattering center is isotropic, the position of the scattering center corresponding to the target remains unchanged, and the backscattering amplitude and phase of the target do not change with the incident frequency and incident azimuth. In fact, these conditions of the ideal point scattering model are difficult to meet, and the scattering models are not ideal in most cases. In order to understand the difference between non-ideal scattering center and ideal scattering center, this paper takes a metal plate as the research object, carries out two-dimensional imaging of the metal plate, compares the difference between the imaging position and the theoretical target position, and compares the shape of the scattering center obtained from two-dimensional imaging of the plate from different angles. From the experimental results, the offset between the scattering center position and the theoretical target position corresponding to the two-dimensional imaging of the plate under the non-ideal point scattering model is less than the range resolution and azimuth resolution. The deviation between the small angle two-dimensional imaging position and the theoretical target position using the ideal point scattering model is small, and the ideal point scattering model is still suitable for the two-dimensional imaging of the plate. In the imaging process, the ratio of range resolution and azimuth resolution affects the shape of the scattering center. The range resolution is equal to the azimuth resolution, the shape of the scattering center is circular; the range resolution is not equal to the azimuth resolution, and the shape of the scattering center is elliptic. In order to obtain more accurate two-dimensional image, the appropriate range resolution and azimuth resolution can be considered when using the ideal point scattering model for two-dimensional imaging. The two-dimensional imaging results of the plate at different azimuth and angle can be used as a reference for the study of non-ideal point scattering model.

A novel double-image Green's function approach is proposed to compute the frequency- dependent capacitance and conductance for the general CMOS oriented transmission lines with one protective layer. The ε-algorithm of Pade approximation is adopted to reduce the time for establishing coefficient matrix in this letter. The parameters gained from this new approach are shown to be in good agreement with the data obtained by the full-wave method and the total charge Green's function method.

In this paper, we propose a decentralized strategy to find out the linear precoding matrices for a two-hop multiuser relay communication system. From a game-theoretic perspective, we model the source allocation process as a strategic noncooperative game for fixing relay precoding matrix and the multiuser interference treating as additive colored noise. Alternately, from the global optimization perspective, we prove that the optimum relay precoding matrix follows the transceiver Winner filter structure for giving a set of source transmit matrices. Closed-form solutions are finally obtained by using our proposed joint iterative SMSE algorithm and numerical results are provided to give insights on the proposed algorithms.

In this paper, we propose a novel method for road sign detection and recognition in complex scene real world images. Our algorithm consists of four basic steps. First, we employ a regional contrast based bottom-up visual saliency method to highlight the traffic sign regions, which usually have dominant color contrast against the background. Second, each type of traffic sign has special color distribution, which can be explored by top-down visual saliency to enhance the detection precision and to classify traffic signs into different categories. A bag-of-words (BoW) model and a color name descriptor are employed to compute the special-class distribution. Third, the candidate road sign blobs are extracted from the final saliency map, which are generated by combining the bottom-up and the top-down saliency maps. Last, the color and shape cues are fused in the BoW model to express blobs, and a support vector machine is employed to recognize road signs. Experiments on real world images show a high success rate and a low false hit rate and demonstrate that the proposed framework is applicable to prohibition, warning and obligation signs. Additionally, our method can be applied to achromatic signs without extra processing.

This letter presents a novel two-dimensional (2-D) defected ground array (DGA) for planar circuits, which has horizontal and vertical periodicities of defect structure. The defect unit cell of DGA is composed of a Sierpinski carpet structure to improve the effective inductance. Measurements show that the proposed DGA provides steeper cutoff characteristics, lower cutoff frequency, and higher slow-wave factors than the conventional periodic defected ground structure in the same occupied surface.

In this paper, a precise design method of high-order bandpass filters (BPFs) with complicated coupling topologies is proposed, and is demonstrated through the design of an 11-pole BPF using TM010 mode dielectric resonators (DRs). A novel Z-shaped coupling structure is proposed which avoids the mixed use of TM010 and TM01δ modes and enables the tuning and assembling of the filter much easier. The coupling topology of the BPF includes three cascade triplets (CTs) of DRs, and both the capacitive and inductive couplings in the CTs are designed independently tunable, which produce consequently three controllable transmission zeros on both sides of the passband of filter. A procedure of mapping the coupling matrix of BPF to its physical dimensions is developed, and an iterative optimization of these physical dimensions is implemented to achieve best performance. The design of the 11-pole BPF is shown highly precise by the excellent agreement between the electromagnetic simulated response of the filter and the desired target specifications.

The complex dielectric image Green's function for metal-insulator-semiconductor (MIS) technology is proposed in this paper through dielectric image method. Then the Epsilon algorithm for Pade approximation is used to accelerate the convergence of the infinite series summation resulted from the complex dielectric image Green's function. Because of the complex dielectric permittivity of semiconducting substrate, the real and imaginary part of the resulted Green's function is accelerated by Epsilon algorithm, respectively. Combined with the complex dielectric image Green's function, the frequency-dependent capacitance and conductance of the transmission lines and interconnects based on MIS technology are investigated through the method of moments (MoM). The computational results of our method for 2-D and 3-D extraction examples are well agreement with experimental data gained from chip measurement and other methods such as full-wave analysis and FastCap.

In this gridless method, ports and decoupling capacitors can be arbitrarily placed on the plane pair. The numerical example demonstrates its good validity.

A novel compact 5-pole bandpass filter (BPF) using two different types of resonators, one is coaxial TEM-mode resonator and the other dielectric triple-mode resonator, is proposed in this paper. The coaxial resonator is a simple single-mode resonator, while the triple-mode dielectric resonator (DR) includes one TM01δ mode and two degenerate HE11 modes. An excellent spurious performance of the BPF is obtained due to the different resonant behaviors of these two types of resonators used in the BPF. The coupling scheme of the 5-pole BPF includes two cascade triplets (CTs) which produce two transmission zeros (TZs) and a sharp skirt of the passband. Behaviors of the resonances, the inter-resonance couplings, as well as their tuning methods are investigated in detail. A procedure of mapping the coupling matrix of the BPF to its physical dimensions is developed, and an optimization of these physical dimensions is implemented to achieve best performance of the filter. The designed BPF is operated at 1.84GHz with a bandwidth of 51MHz. The stopband rejection is better than 20dB up to 9.7GHz (about 5.39×f0) except 7.85GHz. Good agreement between the designed and theoretically synthesized responses of the BPF is reached, verifying well the proposed configuration of the BPF and its design method.

This paper proposes joint maximum a posteriori (MAP) detection and spatial filtering for MIMO-OFDM mobile communications; it offers excellent receiver performance even over interference-limited channels. The proposed joint processor consists of a log likelihood generator and a MAP equalizer. The log likelihood generator suppresses cochannel interference by spatially filtering received signals and provides branch metrics of transmitted signal candidates. Using the branch metrics, the MAP equalizer generates log likelihood ratios of coded bits and performs channel decoding based on the MAP criterion. In the first stage, the log likelihood generator performs spatio-temporal filtering (STF) of the received signals prior to the fast Fourier transform (FFT) and is referred to as preFFT-type STF. Estimation of parameters including tap coefficients of the spatio-temporal filters and equivalent channel impulse responses of desired signals is based on the eigenvalue decomposition of an autocorrelation matrix of both the received and transmitted signals. For further improvement, in the second stage, the generator performs spatial filtering (SF) of the FFT output and is referred to as postFFT-type SF. Estimation of both tap coefficients of the spatial filters and channel impulse responses employs the recursive least squares (RLS) with smoothing. The reason for switching from preFFT-type STF into postFFT-type SF is that preFFT-type STF outperforms postFFT-type SF with a limited number of preamble symbols while postFFT-type SF outperforms preFFT-type STF when data symbols can be reliably detected and used for the parameter estimation. Note that there are two major differences between the proposed and conventional schemes: one is that the proposed scheme performs the two-stage processing of preFFT-type STF and postFFT-type SF, while the other is that the smoothing algorithm is applied to the parameter estimation of the proposed scheme. Computer simulations demonstrate that the proposed scheme can achieve excellent PER performance under interference-limited channel conditions and that it can outperform the conventional joint processing of preFFT-type STF and the MAP equalizer.
