We address a path planning problem for heterogeneous multi-robot systems under specifications consisting of temporal constraints and routing tasks such as package delivery services. The robots are partitioned into several groups based on their dynamics and specifications. We introduce a concise description of such tasks, called a work, and extend counting LTL to represent such specifications. We convert the problem into an ILP problem. We show that the number of variables in the ILP problem is fewer than that of the existing method using cLTL+. By simulation, we show that the computation time of the proposed method is faster than that of the existing method.

We propose a framework for the integration of heterogeneous networks in human pose estimation (HPE) with the aim of balancing accuracy and computational complexity. Although many existing methods can improve the accuracy of HPE using multiple frames in videos, they also increase the computational complexity. The key difference here is that the proposed heterogeneous framework has various networks for different types of frames, while existing methods use the same networks for all frames. In particular, we propose to divide the video frames into two types, including key frames and non-key frames, and adopt three networks including slow networks, fast networks, and transfer networks in our heterogeneous framework. For key frames, a slow network is used that has high accuracy but high computational complexity. For non-key frames that follow a key frame, we propose to warp the heatmap of a slow network from a key frame via a transfer network and fuse it with a fast network that has low accuracy but low computational complexity. Furthermore, when extending to the usage of long-term frames where a large number of non-key frames follow a key frame, the temporal correlation decreases. Therefore, when necessary, we use an additional transfer network that warps the heatmap from a neighboring non-key frame. The experimental results on PoseTrack 2017 and PoseTrack 2018 datasets demonstrate that the proposed FSPose achieves a better balance between accuracy and computational complexity than the competitor method. Recent studies in protein structure prediction such as AlphaFold have enabled deep learning to achieve great attention on the Drug-Target Affinity (DTA) task. Most works are dedicated to embed single molecular property and homogeneous information, ignoring the diverse heterogeneous information gains that are contained in the molecules and interactions. Motivated by this, we propose an end-to-end deep learning framework to perform Molecular Heterogeneous features Fusion (MolHF) for DTA prediction on heterogeneity. To address the challenges that biochemical attributes locates in different heterogeneous spaces, we design a Molecular Heterogeneous Information Learning module with multi-strategy learning. Especially, Molecular Heterogeneous Attention Fusion module is present to obtain the gains of molecular heterogeneous features. With these, the diversity of molecular structure information for drugs can be extracted. Extensive experiments on two benchmark datasets show that our method outperforms the baselines in all four metrics. Ablation studies validate the effect of attentive fusion and multi-group of drug heterogeneous features. Visual presentations demonstrate the impact of protein embedding level and the model ability of fitting data. In summary, the diverse gains brought by heterogeneous information contribute to drug-target affinity prediction.

This letter solves the energy efficiency optimization problem for the simultaneous wireless information and power transfer (SWIPT) systems with non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA), multiple input single output (MISO) and power-splitting structures, where each user may have different individual quality of service (QoS) requirements about information and energy. Nonlinear energy harvesting model is used. Alternate optimization approach is adopted to find the solution, which shows a fast convergence behavior. Simulation results show the proposed scheme has higher energy efficiency than existing dual-layer iteration and throughput maximization methods.

In this paper, we propose an online probabilistic activation/deactivation control method for base stations (BSs) in heterogeneous networks based on the temporal system throughput and activation states of neighbor BSs (cells). The conventional method iteratively updates the activation/deactivation states in a probabilistic manner at each BS based on the change in the observed system throughput and activation/deactivation states of that BS between past multiple consecutive discrete times. Since BS activation control increases the system throughput by improving the tradeoff between the reduction in inter-cell interference and the traffic off-loading effect, the activation of a BS whose neighbor BSs are deactivated is likely to result in improved system performance and vice versa. The proposed method newly introduces a metric, which represents the effective ratio of the activated neighbor BSs considering their transmission power and distance to the BS of interest, to the update control of the activation probability. This improves both the convergence rate of the iterative algorithm and throughput performance after convergence. Computer simulation results, in which the mobility of the user terminals is taken into account, show the effectiveness of the proposed method.

Stance prediction on social media aims to infer the stances of users towards a specific topic or event, which are not expressed explicitly. It is of great significance for public opinion analysis to extract and determine users' stances using user-generated content on social media. Existing research makes use of various signals, ranging from text content to online network connections of users on these platforms. However, it lacks joint modeling of the heterogeneous information for stance prediction. In this paper, we propose a self-supervised heterogeneous graph contrastive learning framework for stance prediction in online debate forums. Firstly, we perform data augmentation on the original heterogeneous information network to generate an augmented view. The original view and augmented view are learned from a meta-path based graph encoder respectively. Then, the contrastive learning among the two views is conducted to obtain high-quality representations of users and issues. Finally, the stance prediction is accomplished by matrix factorization between users and issues. The experimental results on an online debate forum dataset show that our model outperforms other competitive baseline methods significantly.

In recent years, Graph Neural Networks has received enormous attention from academia for its huge potential of modeling the network traits such as macrostructure and single node attributes. However, prior mainstream works mainly focus on homogeneous network and lack the capacity to characterize the network heterogeneous property. Besides, most previous literature cannot the model latent influence link under microscope vision, making it infeasible to model the joint relation between the heterogeneity and mutual interaction within multiple relation type. In this letter, we propose a latent influence based self-attention framework to address the difficulties mentioned above. To model the heterogeneity and mutual interactions, we redesign the attention mechanism with latent influence factor on single-type relation level, which learns the importance coefficient from its adjacent neighbors under the same meta-path based patterns. To incorporate the heterogeneous meta-path in a unified dimension, we developed a novel self-attention based framework for meta-path relation fusion according to the learned meta-path coefficient. Our experimental results demonstrate that our framework not only achieves higher results than current state-of-the-art baselines, but also shows promising vision on depicting heterogeneous interactive relations under complicated network structure.

With the demand for energy-efficient and high- performance computing, multicore architecture has become more appealing than ever. Multicore task scheduling is one of domains in parallel computing which exploits the parallelism of multicore. Unlike traditional scheduling, multicore task scheduling has recently been studied on the assumption that tasks have inherent parallelism and can be split into multiple sub-tasks in data parallel fashion. However, it is still challenging to properly determine the degree of parallelism of tasks and mapping on multicores. Our proposed scheduling techniques determine the degree of parallelism of tasks, and sub-tasks are decided which type of cores to be assigned to heterogeneous multicores. In addition, two approaches to hardware/software codesign for heterogeneous multicore systems are proposed. The works optimize the types of cores organized in the architecture simultaneously with scheduling of the tasks such that the overall energy consumption is minimized under a deadline constraint, a warm start approach is also presented to effectively solve the problem. The experimental results show the simultaneous scheduling and core-type optimization technique remarkably reduces the energy consumption.

The recommend system has been widely used in many web application areas such as e-commerce services. With the development of the recommend system, the HIN modeling method replaces the traditional bipartite graph modeling method to represent the recommend system. But several studies have already showed that recommend system is vulnerable to shilling attack (injecting attack). However, the effectiveness of how traditional shilling attack has rarely been studied directly in the HIN model. Moreover, no study has focused on how to enhance shilling attacks against HIN recommend system by using the high-level semantic information. This work analyzes the relationship between the high-level semantic information and the attacking effects in HIN recommend system. This work proves that attack results are proportional to the high-level semantic information. Therefore, we propose a heuristic attack method based on high-level semantic information, named Semantic Shilling Attack (SSA) on a HIN recommend system (HERec). This method injects a specific score into each selected item related to the target in semantics. It ensures transmitting the misleading information towards target items and normal users, and attempts to interfere with the effect of the recommend system. The experiment is dependent on two real-world datasets, and proves that the attacking effect is positively correlate with the number of meta-paths. The result shows that our method is more effective when compared with existing baseline algorithms.

Heterogeneous networks (HetNets) are emerging as an inevitable method to tackle the capacity crunch of the cellular networks. Due to the complicated network environment and a large number of configured parameters, coverage and capacity optimization (CCO) is a challenging issue in heterogeneous cellular networks. By combining the self-optimizing algorithm for radio frequency (RF) parameters with the power control mechanism of small cells, the CCO problem of self-organizing network is addressed in this paper. First, the optimization of RF parameters is solved based on reinforcement learning (RL), where the base station is modeled as an agent that can learn effective strategies to control the tunable parameters by interacting with the surrounding environment. Second, the small cell can autonomously change the state of wireless transmission by comparing its distance from the user equipment with the virtual cell size. Simulation results show that the proposed algorithm can achieve better performance on user throughput compared to different conventional methods.

A method is presented for increasing wireless LAN (WLAN) capacity in high-density environments with IEEE 802.11ax systems. We propose using coordinated scheduling of trigger frames based on our mobile cooperative control concept. High-density WLAN systems are managed by a management server, which gathers wireless environmental information from user equipment through cellular access. Hierarchical clustering of basic service sets is used to form synchronized clusters to reduce interference and increase throughput of high-density WLAN systems based on mobile cooperative control. This method increases uplink capacity by up to 19.4% and by up to 11.3% in total when WLAN access points are deployed close together. This control method is potentially effective for IEEE 802.11ax WLAN systems utilized as 5G mobile network components.

In this paper, we address the problem of analyzing topics, included in a social video group, to improve the retrieval performance of videos. Unlike previous methods that focused on an individual visual aspect of videos, the proposed method aims to leverage the “mutual reinforcement” of heterogeneous modalities such as tags and users associated with video on the Internet. To represent multiple types of relationships between each heterogeneous modality, the proposed method constructs three subgraphs: user-tag, video-video, and video-tag graphs. We combine the three types of graphs to obtain a heterogeneous graph. Then the extraction of latent features, i.e., topics, becomes feasible by applying graph-based soft clustering to the heterogeneous graph. By estimating the membership of each grouped cluster for each video, the proposed method defines a new video similarity measure. Since the understanding of video content is enhanced by exploiting latent features obtained from different types of data that complement each other, the performance of visual reranking is improved by the proposed method. Results of experiments on a video dataset that consists of YouTube-8M videos show the effectiveness of the proposed method, which achieves a 24.3% improvement in terms of the mean normalized discounted cumulative gain in a search ranking task compared with the baseline method.

In this paper, we propose a decentralized probabilistic frequency-block activation control method for the cellular downlink. The aim of the proposed method is to increase the downlink system throughput within the system coverage by adaptively controlling the individual activation of each frequency block at all base stations (BSs) to achieve inter-cell interference coordination (ICIC) and traffic load balancing. The proposed method does not rely on complicated inter-BS cooperation. It uses only the inter-BS information exchange regarding the observed system throughput levels with the neighboring BSs. Based on the shared temporal system throughput information, each BS independently controls online the activation of their respective frequency blocks in a probabilistic manner, which autonomously achieves ICIC and load balancing among BSs. Simulation results show that the proposed method achieves greater system throughput and a faster convergence rate than the conventional online probabilistic activation/deactivation control method. We also show that the proposed method successfully tracks dynamic changes in the user distribution generated due to mobility.

To solve the problem of the self-deployment of heterogeneous directional wireless sensor networks in 3D space, this paper proposes a weighted Voronoi diagram-based self-deployment algorithm (3DV-HDDA) in 3D space. To improve the network coverage ratio of the monitoring area, the 3DV-HDDA algorithm uses the weighted Voronoi diagram to move the sensor nodes and introduces virtual boundary torque to rotate the sensor nodes, so that the sensor nodes can reach the optimal position. This work also includes an improvement algorithm (3DV-HDDA-I) based on the positions of the centralized sensor nodes. The difference between the 3DV-HDDA and the 3DV-HDDA-I algorithms is that in the latter the movement of the node is determined by both the weighted Voronoi graph and virtual force. Simulations show that compared to the virtual force algorithm and the unweighted Voronoi graph-based algorithm, the 3DV-HDDA and 3DV-HDDA-I algorithms effectively improve the network coverage ratio of the monitoring area. Compared to the virtual force algorithm, the 3DV-HDDA algorithm increases the coverage from 75.93% to 91.46% while the 3DV-HDDA-I algorithm increases coverage from 76.27% to 91.31%. When compared to the unweighted Voronoi graph-based algorithm, the 3DV-HDDA algorithm improves the coverage from 80.19% to 91.46% while the 3DV-HDDA-I algorithm improves the coverage from 72.25% to 91.31%. Further, the energy consumption of the proposed algorithms after 60 iterations is smaller than the energy consumption using a virtual force algorithm. Experimental results demonstrate the accuracy and effectiveness of the 3DV-HDDA and the 3DV-HDDA-I algorithms.

Heterogeneous networks (HetNets) technology is expected to be applied in next generation cellular networks to boost system capacity. However, applying HetNets introduces a significant amount of interference among different tiers within the same cell. In this paper, we propose a weighted rank constrained rank minimization (WRCRM) based interference alignment (IA) approach for three-tier HetNets. The concept of RCRM is applied in a different way to deal with the basic characteristic of different tiers: their different interference tolerance. In the proposed WRCRM approach, interference components at different tiers are weighted with different weighting factors (WFs) to reflect their vulnerability to interference. First, we derive an inner and a loose outer bound on the achievable degrees of freedom (DoF) for the three-tier system that is modeled as a three-user mutually interfering broadcast channel (MIBC). Then, the derived bounds along with the well-known IA feasibility conditions are used to show the effectiveness of the proposed WRCRM approach. Results show that there exist WF values that maximize the achievable interference-free dimensions. Moreover, adjusting the required number of DoF according to the derived bounds improves the performance of the WRCRM approach.

Near real-time periodic tasks, which are popular in multimedia streaming applications, have deadline periods that are longer than the input intervals thanks to buffering. For such applications, the conventional frame-based schedulings cannot realize the optimal scheduling due to their shortsighted deadline assumptions. To realize globally energy-efficient executions of these applications, we propose a novel task scheduling algorithm, which takes advantage of the long deadline period. We confirm our approach can take advantage of the longer deadline period and reduce the average power consumption by up to 18%.

Based on the License Assisted Access (LAA) small cell architecture, the LAA coexisting with Wi-Fi heterogeneous networks provide LTE mobile users with high bandwidth efficiency as the unlicensed channels are shared among LAA and Wi-Fi. However, the LAA and Wi-Fi will affect each other when both systems are using the same unlicensed channel in the heterogeneous networks. In such a network, unlicensed band allocation for LAA and Wi-Fi is an important issue that may affect the quality of service (QoS) of both systems significantly. In this paper, we propose an analytical model and conduct simulation experiments to study two allocations for the unlicensed band: unlicensed full allocation (UFA), unlicensed time-division allocation (UTA), and the corresponding buffering mechanism for the LAA data packets. We evaluate the performance for these unlicensed band allocations schemes in terms of the acceptance rate of both LAA and Wi-Fi packet data in LAA buffer queue. Our study provides guidelines for designing channel occupation phase and the buffer size of LAA small cell.

It is of great importance to recommend collaborators for scholars in academic social networks, which can benefit more scientific research results. Facing the problem of data sparsity of co-author recommendation in academic social networks, a novel recommendation algorithm named HeteroRWR (Heterogeneous Random Walk with Restart) is proposed. Different from the basic Random Walk with Restart (RWR) model which only walks in homogeneous networks, HeteroRWR implements multiple random walks in a heterogeneous network which integrates a citation network and a co-authorship network to mine the k mostly valuable co-authors for target users. By introducing the citation network, HeteroRWR algorithm can find more suitable candidate authors when the co-authorship network is extremely sparse. Candidate recommenders will not only have high topic similarities with target users, but also have good community centralities. Analyses on the convergence and time efficiency of the proposed approach are presented. Extensive experiments have been conducted on DBLP and CiteSeerX datasets. Experimental results demonstrate that HeteroRWR outperforms state-of-the-art baseline methods in terms of precision and recall rate even in the case of incorporating an incomplete citation dataset.

This letter proposes a novel dynamic channel assignment (DCA) scheme to improve the downlink system capacity in heterogeneous networks (HetNets) with fractional frequency reuse (FFR). In the proposed DCA scheme, the macro base station (MBS) finds small-cell base stations (SBSs) that give strong interference to macro user equipments (MUEs) and then dynamically assigns subchannels to the SBSs to serve their small-cell user equipments (SUEs) according to the cross-tier interference information to MUEs. Through simulation results, it is shown that the proposed DCA scheme outperforms other schemes in terms of the total system capacity.
