In this letter, a local characteristic image restoration based on convolutional neural network is proposed. In this method, image restoration is considered as a classification problem and images are divided into several sub-blocks. The convolutional neural network is used to extract and classify the local characteristics of image sub-blocks, and the different forms of the regularization constraints are adopted for the different local characteristics. Experiments show that the image restoration results by the regularization method based on local characteristics are superior to those by the traditional regularization methods and this method also has lower computing cost.

Recently, multihop wireless sensor networks (WSNs) are widely developed and applied to energy efficient data collections from environments by establishing reliable transmission radio links and employing data aggregation algorithms, which can eliminate redundant transmissions and provide fusion information. In this paper, energy efficiency which consists of not only energy consumptions but also the amount of received data by the base station, as the performance metric to evaluate network utilities is presented for achieving energy efficient data collections. In order to optimize energy efficiency for improvements of network utilization, we firstly establish a graphical game theoretic model for energy efficiency in multihop WSNs, considering message length, practical energy consumptions and packet success probabilities. Afterwards, we propose a graphical protocol for performance optimization from Nash equilibrium of the graphical game theory. The approach also consists of the distributed protocol for generating optimum tree networks in practical WSNs. The experimental results show energy efficient multihop communications can be achieved by optimum tree networks of the approach. The quantitative evaluation and comparisons with related work are presented for the metric with respect to network energy consumptions and the amount of received data by the base station. The performances of our proposal are improved in all experiments. As an example, our proposal can achieve up to about 52% energy efficiency more than collection tree protocol (CTP). The corresponding tree structure is provided for the experiment.

With the increase of data quantity, people have begun to attach importance to cloud storage. However, numerous security accidents occurred to cloud servers recently, thus triggering thought about the security of traditional single cloud. In other words, traditional single cloud can't ensure the privacy of users' data to a certain extent. To solve those security issues, multi-cloud systems which spread data over multiple cloud storage servers emerged. They employ a series of erasure codes and other keyless dispersal algorithms to achieve high-level security. But non-systematic codes like RS require relatively complex arithmetic, and systematic codes have relatively weaker security. In terms of keyless dispersal algorithms, they avoid key management issues but not suit to complete parallel optimization or deduplication which is important to limited cloud storage resources. So in this paper, we design a new kind of XOR-based non-systematic erasure codes - Privacy Protecting Codes (PPC) and a SIMD encoding algorithm for better performance. To achieve higher-level security, we put forward a novel deduplication-friendly dispersal algorithm called Hash Cyclic Encryption-PPC (HCE-PPC) which can achieve complete parallelization. With these new technologies, we present a multi-cloud storage system called CloudS. For better user experience and the tradeoffs between security and performance, CloudS provides multiple levels of security by various combinations of compression, encryption and coding schemes. We implement CloudS as a web application which doesn't require users to perform complicated operations on local.

In emergency situations, telecommunication networks become congested due to large numbers of call requests. Also, some infrastructure breaks down, so undamaged communication resources must be utilized more efficiently. Therefore, several lines in telephone exchanges are generally reserved for emergency calls whose users communicate crucial information. The number of lines reserved for emergency calls is determined by a threshold, on a trunk reservation control method. To accept both required emergency calls and more general calls, the traffic intensity of arriving emergency calls should be estimated in advance, and a threshold should be configured so that the number of reserved lines becomes lower than the estimation. Moreover, we propose that the holding time for general calls should be positively limited. By guaranteeing the holding time sufficient for communicating essential information, holding time limitation reduces long-period calls so more general calls are accepted. In this paper, we propose a new CAC method to utilize undamaged communication resources more efficiently during emergencies. Our proposed method accepts more general calls by collaboratively relaxing the threshold of trunk reservation and limiting holding time of general calls. This method is targeted at not only the telephone exchange but also various systems on networks, e.g. base stations of the wireless network or SIP servers. With our method, the threshold is configured in consideration of the ratio of traffic intensities estimated in advance. We modeled the telephone exchange as a queueing loss system and calculated call-blocking rates of both emergency and general calls by using computer simulation. The comparison with the conventional holding time limitation method showed that our proposed method accepts the required number of emergency calls by appropriately relaxing the threshold, while suppressing the increase in call-blocking of general calls.

Trellis coded modulation (TCM) concept is applied to the mode constellation points of orbital angular momentum (OAM) modulation. OAM modulation considers the multiple OAM modes as additional constellation points and maps a first part of a block of information bits to the transmitting OAM modes. Therefore, spatial multiplexing gains are retained and spectral efficiency is boosted. The second part of the block of information bits is mapped to a complex symbol using conventional digital modulation schemes. At any particular time instant, only one OAM mode is active. The receiver estimates the transmitted symbol and the active OAM mode, then uses the two estimates to retrieve the original block of data bits. Simulation reveals that with the TCM employed both for the OAM constellation points and the signal constellation points, a considerable bit error rate (BER) gain can be obtained under all turbulence conditions, compared with that of the no coding scheme.

This paper proposes a blind, inaudible, robust digital-audio watermarking scheme based on singular-spectrum analysis, which relates to watermarking techniques based on singular value decomposition. We decompose a host signal into its oscillatory components and modify amplitudes of some of those components with respect to a watermark bit and embedding rule. To improve the sound quality of a watermarked signal and still maintain robustness, differential evolution is introduced to find optimal parameters of the proposed scheme. Test results show that, although a trade-off between inaudibility and robustness still persists, the difference in sound quality between the original and the watermarked one is considerably smaller. This improved scheme is robust against many attacks, such as MP3 and MP4 compression, and band-pass filtering. However, there is a drawback, i.e., some music-dependent parameters need to be shared between embedding and extraction processes. To overcome this drawback, we propose a method for automatic parameter estimation. By incorporating the estimation method into the framework, those parameters need not to be shared, and the test results show that it can blindly decode watermark bits with an accuracy of 99.99%. This paper not only proposes a new technique and scheme but also discusses the singular value and its physical interpretation.

In this paper, we propose an overloaded multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) signal detection scheme with slab decoding and lattice reduction (LR). The proposed scheme firstly splits the transmitted signal vector into two parts, the post-voting vector composed of the same number of signal elements as that of receive antennas, and the pre-voting vector composed of the remaining elements. Secondly, it reduces the candidates of the pre-voting vector using slab decoding and determines the post-voting vectors for each pre-voting vector candidate by LR-aided minimum mean square error (MMSE)-successive interference cancellation (SIC) detection. From the performance analysis of the proposed scheme, we derive an upper bound of the error probability and show that it can achieve the full diversity order. Simulation results show that the proposed scheme can achieve almost the same performance as the optimal ML detection while reducing the required computational complexity.

Information floating delivers information to mobile nodes in specific areas without meaningless spreading of information by permitting mobile nodes to directly transfer information to other nodes by wireless links in designated areas called transmittable areas. In this paper, we assume that mobile nodes change direction at intersections after receiving such information as warnings and local advertisements and that an information source remains in some place away from the transmittable area and continuously broadcasts information. We analyze performance of information floating under these assumptions to explore effects of the behavior changes of mobile nodes, decision deadline of the behavior change, and existence of a fixed source on information floating. We theoretically analyze the probability that a node cannot receive information and also derive the size of each transmittable area so that this probability is close to desired values.

A virtual network edge using live migration of virtualized network functions (VNFs) can be expected to reduce computation time and save resources instead of conventional network edge routers that have complex functions. Wavelength-division-multiplexing/time-division-multiplexing (WDM/TDM) photonic switching technology for metro ring networks is proposed to provide fast bandwidth resource allocation for rapidly changing service-flow demand. However, there are no reports on the coexistence of high-speed path switching for live migration with fast bandwidth resource allocation, as far as we know. We propose an architecture that achieves both high-speed path switching and fast dynamic bandwidth allocation control for service flows with in-service live migration. The feature of this architecture is that the VNF for the virtual edge corresponds to each 10-gigabit Ethernet-passive optical network (10G-EPON) and fast route change can be achieved with a simple point-to-point path between VNFs and optical line terminals (OLTs). The second feature is that the live migration of a VNF is limited to a part of it that contains a larger number of subscribers. Owing to the reduction in the number of total paths, fast resource allocation can be provided.

We reported a secure scan design approach using shift register equivalents (SR-equivalents, for short) that are functionally equivalent but not structurally equivalent to shift registers [10 and also introduced generalized shift registers (GSRs, for short) to apply them to secure scan design [11]-[13]. In this paper, we combine both concepts of SR-equivalents and GSRs and consider the synthesis problem of SR-equivalent GSRs, i.e., how to modify a given GSR to an SR-equivalent GSR. We also consider the enumeration problem of SR-equivalent GFSRs, i.e., the cardinality of the class of SR-equivalent GSRs to clarify the security level of the secure scan architecture.

We study the correlation matrix element properties in array signal processing and apply them to a Direction-Of-Arrival (DOA) estimation problem of coherent or highly-correlated sources for a Uniform Linear Array (ULA). The proposed algorithm is generally based on the relation between the elements of the array correlation matrix and does not need an eigendecomposition, iteration, or angular peak-search. The performance of the proposed method was evaluated through a computer simulation.

In this paper, we propose a single-channel speech enhancement method for a push-to-talk enabled wireless communication device. The proposed method is based on adaptive weighted β-order spectral amplitude estimation under speech presence uncertainty and enhanced instantaneous phase estimation in order to achieve flexible and effective noise reduction while limiting the speech distortion due to different noise conditions. Experimental results confirm that the proposed method delivers higher voice quality and intelligibility than the reference methods in various noise environments.

Since many cyber-physical systems (CPSs) manipulate security-sensitive data, enhancing the quality of security in a CPS is a critical and challenging issue in CPS design. Although there has been a large body of research on securing general purpose PCs, directly applying such techniques to a CPS can compromise the real-time property of CPSs since the timely execution of tasks in a CPS typically relies on real-time scheduling. Recognizing this property, previous works have proposed approaches to add a security constraint to the real-time properties to cope with the information leakage problem that can arise between real-time tasks with different security levels. However, conventional works have mainly focused on non-preemptive scheduling and have suggested a very naive approach for preemptive scheduling, which shows limited analytical capability. In this paper, we present a new preemptive fixed-priority scheduling algorithm incorporating a security constraint, called lowest security-level first (LSF) and its strong schedulability analysis to reduce the potential of information leakage. Our simulation results show that LSF schedulability analysis outperforms state-of-the-art FP analysis when the security constraint has reasonable timing penalties.

We released this software as a Web application to make it available to anyone, from anywhere. This Web application can automatically generate images for tactile graphs from numerical data in a CSV file. It is currently able to generate four types of graph — scatter plots, line graphs, bar charts and pie charts. This paper describes the Web application's functions, operating procedures and the results of evaluation experiments.

A simple approach is presented for designing an antipodal Vivaldi antenna in this paper. A new and better estimation of the low frequency end of the operational range is shown. Final dimensions of the antenna parameters are determined by using the High Frequency Structure Simulator (HFSS). The proposed antenna has a simple configuration but exhibits low return loss, good radiation characteristics, and high and flat gain in the operating ultra wideband frequency range (3.1-10.6 GHz). Lastly, the fabrication has been done along with the specification to confirm the properties by measurements.

Interference alignment (IA) is a method to improve the capacity of cell-edge users and thus attracts an intense research interest. We focus on the IA extended to the multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) interference network. In this method, each coordinated transmitter generates beamforming vectors to align interference from different transmitters into confined subspace at each receiver. Then, using singular value decomposition (SVD) with the relative magnitude coefficients, transmitters calculate the beamforming vectors and the received vectors. However, in this method it is difficult to determine the value of the relative magnitude coefficients so that the system capacity is improved, because it is necessary to solve the non-linear function of multivariable. In this paper, we propose a design method of the relative magnitude coefficients of interference channels to improve system capacity using Brent's method on the K-User MIMO interference channel (MIMO-IFC). The proposed method can improve system capacity, though the system complexity increases due to Brent's method that requires multiple SVD calculation to calculate the null space. Thus, instead of using SVD, we introduce the complexity reduction method to calculate the null space of the matrix. Furthermore, we extend the proposed method to be applicable for more common systems where all base stations have the same number of transmit antennas. Through simulation, we show that the proposed method achieves a higher system capacity than the conventional one. We also show that the method that calculates the null space needs much lower complexity than SVD. In addition, we show that the proposed design method reduces the degradation of the system capacity caused by the interference not eliminated, and achieves the fairness of capacities among users for an increase of the number of design coefficients.

In the current IoT (Internet of Things) environment, more and more Things: devices, objects, sensors, and everyday items not usually considered computers, are connected to the Internet, and these Things affect and change our social life and economic activities. By using IoTs, service providers can collect and store personal information in the real world, and such providers can gain access to detailed behaviors of the user. Although service providers offer users new services and numerous benefits using their detailed information, most users have concerns about the privacy and security of their personal data. Thus, service providers need to take countermeasures to eliminate those concerns. To help eliminate those concerns, first we conduct a survey regarding users' privacy and security concerns about IoT services, and then we analyze data collected from the survey using structural equation modeling (SEM). Analysis of the results provide answers to issues of privacy and security concerns to service providers and their users. And we also analyze the effectiveness and effects of personal information management and protection functions in IoT services.

Bistatic multi-input multi-output (MIMO) radar has the capability of measuring the transmit angle from the receiving array, which means the existence of information redundancy and benefits data association. In this paper, a data association decision for bistatic MIMO radar is proposed and the performance advantages of bistatic MIMO radar in data association is analyzed and evaluated. First, the parameters obtained by receiving array are sent to the association center via coordinate conversion. Second, referencing the nearest neighbor association (NN) algorithm, an improved association decision is proposed with the transmit angle and target range as association statistics. This method can evade the adverse effects of the angle system errors to data association. Finally, data association probability in the presence of array directional error is derived and the correctness of derivation result is testified via Monte Carlo simulation experiments. Besides that performance comparison with the conventional phased array radar verifies the excellent performance of bistatic MIMO Radar in data association.
