A wideband design of the waveguide short-slot 2-plane coupler with 2×2 input/output ports is designed, fabricated, and evaluated. Using coupling coefficients of complementary propagating modes which are TE11, TE21, and TE30 modes, the flatness of the output amplitudes of 2-plane coupler is improved. The coupler operates from 4.96GHz to 5.27GHz (bandwidth 6.1%) which is wider than the former coupler without considering the complementary propagating mode from 5.04GHz to 5.17GHz (bandwidth 2.5%).

In general, effective integrating the advantages of different trackers can achieve unified performance promotion. In this work, we study the integration of multiple correlation filter (CF) trackers; propose a novel but simple tracking integration method that combines different trackers in filter level. Due to the variety of their correlation filter and features, there is no comparability between different CF tracking results for tracking integration. To tackle this, we propose twofold CF to unify these various response maps so that the results of different tracking algorithms can be compared, so as to boost the tracking performance like ensemble learning. Experiment of two CF methods integration on the data sets OTB demonstrates that the proposed method is effective and promising.

By interleaving known Z-periodic complementary (ZPC) sequence set, a new ZPC sequence set is constructed with multiple ZPC sequence subsets based on an orthogonal matrix in this work. For this novel ZPC sequence set, which refer to as asymmetric ZPC (AZPC) sequence set, its inter-subset zero cross-correlation zone (ZCCZ) is larger than intra-subset zero correlation zone (ZCZ). In particular, if select a periodic perfect complementary (PC) sequence or PC sequence set and a discrete Fourier transform (DFT) matrix, the resultant sequence set is an inter-group complementary (IGC) sequence set. When a suitable shift sequence is chosen, the obtained IGC sequence set will be optimal in terms of the corresponding theoretical bound. Compared with the existing constructions of IGC sequence sets, the proposed method can provide not only flexible ZCZ width but also flexible choice of basic sequences, which works well in both synchronous and asynchronous operational modes. The proposed AZPC sequence sets are suitable for multiuser environments.

This paper proposes multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) radar waveforms consisting of Doppler-offset orthogonal complementary codes (DO-OCC) for raising the Doppler resilience of MIMO radar systems. The DO-OCC waveforms have low cross-correlation among multiplexed waves and a low autocorrelation peak sidelobe level (PSL) even in the Doppler shift condition. They are verified by computer simulations and measurements. Computer simulations show that the peak sidelobe ratio (PSR) of the DO-OCC exceeds over 60dB and the desired to undesired signal power ratio (DUR) is over 60dB in the case that the Doppler shift is 0.048 rad per pulse repetition interval (PRI). And through the experimental measurements, it has been verified that the PSR of the DO-OCC is over 40dB and the DUR is over 50dB in the case that Doppler shift is 0.05 rad per PRI and that The DO-OCC waveforms enable to maintain the direction of arrival (DOA) estimation accuracy for moving targets as almost same as the one for static targets. The results prove the effectiveness of the proposed MIMO waveforms in achieving Doppler tolerance while maintaining orthogonality and autocorrelation properties.

For this investigation, we utilize an equivalent circuit model of the SC-BTA derived in our previous work and a finite element method solver. Moreover, we derive design guidelines for the radiation characteristics in the form of size scaling-rules with respect to the antenna outer size for a terahertz transmitter.

60GHz wireless communication requires analog baseband circuits having a bandwidth of about 1GHz. This paper presents a wide bandwidth current-mode low pass filter technique which involves current amplifiers, resistors and capacitors. The proposed current-mode filter is obtained by replacing an integrator employing an op-amp with another integrator employing a current amplifier. With the low input impedance current amplifier having little variation of the input impedance, the proposed filter is expected to improve linearity and power efficiency. The proposed current amplifier which employs super source follower topology with complementary input is suitable for the filter because of its class AB operation. Although simulation results shows the conventional current amplifier which employs super source follower topology without the complementary input has 12Ω variation and 30Ω input impedance, the proposed current amplifier has 1Ω variation and 21Ω input impedance. A fourth order 1GHz bandwidth filter which involves the proposed current amplifiers is designed in a 65nm CMOS technology. The filter can achieve IIP3 of 1.3dBV and noise of 0.6mVrms with power consumption of 13mW under supply voltage of 1.2V according to simulation results with layout parasitic extraction models. Active area of the filter is 380μm×170μm.

A 1.9GHz film bulk acoustic resonator (FBAR)-based low-phase-noise complementary cross-coupled voltage-controlled oscillator (VCO) is presented. The FBAR-VCO is designed and fabricated in 0.18µm CMOS process. The DC latch and the low frequency instability are resolved by employing the NMOS source coupling capacitor and the DC blocked cross-coupled pairs. Since no additional voltage headroom is required, the proposed FBAR-VCO can be operated at a low power supply voltage of 1.1V with a wide voltage swing of 0.9V. An effective phase noise optimization is realized by a reasonable trade-off between the output resistance and the trans-conductance of the cross-coupled pairs. The measured performance shows the proposed FBAR-VCO achieves a phase noise of -148dBc/Hz at 1MHz offset with a figure of merit (FoM) of -211.6dB.

This paper introduces a novel Direct Digital Frequency Synthesizer based on Complementary Dual-Phase Latch-Based sequencing method. Compared to conventional Direct Digital Frequency Synthesizer using Flip-Flop as synchronizing element, the proposed architecture allows to double the data sampling rate while trading-off area and Power Efficiency. Digital domain modulations can be easily implemented by using a Direct Digital Frequency Synthesizer. However, due to performance limitations, CMOS-based applications have been almost exclusively restricted to VHF, UHF and L bands. This work aims to increase the operation speed and extend the applicability of this technology to Multi-band Multi-standard wireless systems operating up to 2.7 GHz. The design features a 24 bits pipelined Phase Accumulator and a 14x10 bits Phase to Amplitude Converter. The Phase to Amplitude Converter module is compressed by using Quarter Wave Symmetry technique and is entirely made up of combinational logic inserted into 12 Complementary Dual-Phase Latch-Based pipeline stages. The logic is represented in the form of Sum of Product terms obtained from a 14x10 bits sinusoidal Look-Up-Table. The proposed Direct Digital Frequency Synthesizer is designed and simulated based on 65nm CMOS standard-cell technology. A maximum data sampling rate of 6.8 GS/s is expected. Estimated Spurious Free Dynamic Range and Power Efficiency are 61 dBc and 22 mW/(GS/s) respectively.

The proposed construction provides flexible choice for parameters so as to meet different requirements in the application. A construction of shift sequence sets is proposed and the number of 8-QAM ZPCS sets is extended by changing the parameters of shift sequences. As a result, more users can be accommodated in the system.

Controlling the peak-to-mean envelope power ratio (PMEPR) of orthogonal frequency-division multiplexed (OFDM) transmissions is a significant obstacle in many low-cost applications of OFDM. An coding approach proposed by H.R. Sadjadpour presents non-square M-QAM symbols as a combination of QPSK and BPSK signals when M=22n+1, and then uses QPSK and BPSK Golay (or Golay-like) sequences with a constant PMEPR to generate M-QAM sequences. This paper proposes a new scheme in which M-QAM sequences are generated by QPSK and BPSK sequences with variable PMEPRs. In other words, this new scheme is a general case of the existing approach. As a result, the code rate of the new sequence is significantly improved, while the upper bound of its PMEPR remains at a comparative level.

Novel constructions of inter-group complementary (IGC) sequences are proposed based on Z-periodic complementary (ZPC) sequences and uncorrelated sequence set by taking advantages of interleaved operation. The presented methods can get IGC sequences from interleaving ZPC sequence set. The proposed methods not only can get polyphase IGC sequence set, but also can obtain binary and ternary IGC sequence set. In particular, with the aid of uncorrelated sequence, the number of available groups of IGC sequences from interleaving ZPC sequence set can be chosen with flexibility compared to the existed IGC sequences. The IGC sequences based code division multiple access (CDMA) systems may perform better on bit error rates than conventional sequences based interference-limited CDMA systems. Moreover, the novel IGC sequences may work well in both synchronous and asynchronous operational modes.

The mappings from independent binary variables to quadrature amplitude modulation (QAM) symbols are developed. Based the proposed mappings and the existing binary mutually uncorrelated complementary sequence sets (MUCSSs), a construction producing QAM periodic complementary sequence sets (PCSSs) is presented. The resultant QAM PCSSs have the same numbers and periods of sub-sequences as the binary MUCSSs employed, and the family size of new sequence sets is increased with exponent of periods of sub-sequences. The proposed QAM PCSSs can be applied to CDMA or OFDM communication systems so as to suppress multiple access interference (MAI) or to reduce peak-to-mean envelope power ratio (PMEPR), respectively.

Negative feedback technique employing high DC gain operational amplifier (op-amp) is one of the most important techniques in analog circuit design. However, high DC gain op-amp is difficult to realize in scaled technology due to a decrease of intrinsic gain. In this paper, high DC gain op-amp using common-gate topology with high power efficiency is proposed. To achieve high DC gain, large output impedance is required but input transistors' drain conductance decreases output impedance of conventional topology such as folded cascode topology with complementary input. This is because bias current of the output side transistors is not separated from the bias current of the input transistors. On the other hand, proposed circuit can suppress a degradation of output impedance by inserting common-gate topology between input and output side. This architecture separates bias current of the input transistors from that of the output side, and hence the effect of the drain conductance of input transistors is reduced. As the result, proposed circuit can increase DC gain about 10,dB compared with the folded cascode topology with complementary input in 65,nm CMOS process. Moreover, power consumption can be reduced because input NMOS and PMOS share bias current. According to the simulation results, for the same power consumption, in the proposed circuit gain-bandwidth product (GBW) is improved by approximately 30% and noise is also reduced in comparison to the conventional topology.
