It is very difficult to know evolution state of ACO in its working. To solve the problem, we propose using colony entropy and mean colony entropy to monitor the algorithm. The two functions show fluctuation and declining trends depended on time t in a tour and iteration number. According to the principle, that each updated edge will get the same increment is improper. Then a weighted algorithm is proposed to calculate each arc's increment based on its selected probability. The strategy can provide more exploration to help to find the global optimum value, and experiments show its improved performance.
In order to verify the channel sum-rate improvement by multi-user multiple-input multiple-output (MU-MIMO) transmission in distributed antenna systems (DASs), we investigate and compare the characteristics of channel sum-rates in both centralized antenna systems (CASs) and DASs under the effects of path loss, spatially correlated shadowing, correlated multi-path fading, and inter-cell interference. In this paper, we introduce two different types of functions to model the shadowing, auto-correlation and cross-correlation, and a typical exponential decay function to model the multi-path fading correlation. Thus, we obtain the distribution of the channel sum-rate and investigate its characteristics. Computer simulation results indicate that DAS can improve the performance of the channel sum-rate compared to CAS, even in the case under consideration. However, this improvement decreases as interference power increases. Moreover, the decrease in the channel sum-rate due to the increase in the interference power becomes slow under the effect of shadowing correlation. In addition, some other analyses on the shadowing correlation that occurs on both the transmit and receiver sides are provided. These analysis results show that the average channel sum-rate in a DAS without inter-cell interference considerably decreases because of the shadowing correlation. In contrast, there appears to be no change in the CAS. Furthermore, there are two different types of sum-rate changes in a DAS because of the difference in shadowing auto-correlation and cross-correlation.

Multi-antenna relay transport protocols are analysed, the transmitting matrix of relay node can split into a forward and a backward filters, and these two filters are cascade connection. Based on the zero-forcing relaying protocol, a spatial channel mapping matrix is added between these two filters, and a unified framework of spatial channel mapping matrix is proposed. Then, various linear system designs are summarized, the spatial channel mapping matrix is used to reduce destination noise, so that the relaying noise is suppressed in destination node, and the transmitting power of relay is efficiently utilized. Meanwhile, source node preprocessing operation and destination node equalizer are considered. Simulation results show that the spatial channel mapping matrix has an advantage in terms of system outage probability and capacity performance, and the result is consistent with theoretical analysis.
Recently, a next-generation heterodyne mixer detector---a hot electron bolometer (HEB) mixer employing a superconducting microbridge---has gradually opened up terahertz-band astronomy. The surrounding state-of-the-art technologies including fabrication processes, 4 K cryostats, cryogenic low-noise amplifiers, local oscillator sources, micromachining techniques, and spectrometers, as well as the HEB mixers, have played a valuable role in the development of super-low-noise heterodyne spectroscopy systems for the terahertz band. The current developmental status of terahertz-band HEB mixer receivers and their applications for spectroscopy and astronomy with ground-based, airborne, and satellite telescopes are presented.

When Zero-Forcing (ZF) is adopted as a detector, decreasing the condition number of the channel matrix increases the BER performance. In this paper, we propose a new detection algorithm which reduces the condition number of channel matrix down to nearly 2 on average. Since the least singular value of the channel matrix is a major factor determining the condition number, we, first, project the received signal into a space spanned by singular vectors that are orthogonal to the one corresponding to the least singular value. Then, LR decomposition is performed to reduce further the condition number of the projected channel matrix. Computer simulations show that the performance of the proposed algorithm is comparable to that of the ML detector for both correlated and uncorrelated channels. And also the proposed algorithm provides an at least 2dB improvement compared to the conventional LR-based Ordered Successive Interference Cancellation (LR-OSIC) detector with a Bit Error Rate (BER) of 10-3 and a comparable computation load.
The performance of multiuser multiple-input single-output (MU-MISO) systems is not only affected by small-scale multipath fading but also by large-scale fading (i.e., shadowing) and path loss. In this paper, we concentrate on the sum rate distribution of MU-MISO systems employing linear zero-forcing beamforming, accounting for both multipath fading and shadowing effects, as well as spatial correlation at the transmit and receiver sides. In particular, we consider the classical spatially correlated lognormal model and propose closed-form bounds on the distribution of the achievable sum rates in MU-MISO systems. With the help of these bounds, we derive a relationship between the interuser distance and sum rate corresponding to 10% of the cumulative distribution function under different environmental conditions. A practical conclusion from our results based on the considered system is that the effect of spatially correlated shadowing can be considered to be independent when the interuser distance is approximately five times the shadowing correlation distance. Furthermore, a detailed analysis of the effects of composite channel attenuation consisting of multipath fading and shadowing is also provided.

Password-protected secret sharing (PPSS, for short) schemes were proposed by Bagherzandi, Jarecki, Saxena and Lu. In this paper, we consider another attack for PPSS schemes which is based on public parameters and documents. We show that the protocol proposed by Bagherzandi et al. is broken with the attack. We then propose an enhanced protocol which is secure against the attack.

In this paper, we address the issue of interference alignment (IA) in a two-cell network and consider both inter-cell and intra-cell interferences. For cell one, a linear processing scheme is proposed to align the inter-cell interference to the same signal dimension space of intra-cell interference. For cell two, we propose a distributed interference alignment scheme to manage the interference from the nearby cell. We assume that the relay works in an amplify-and-forward (AF) mode with a half-duplex and MIMO relaying. We show that the composite desired and interfering signals aggregated over two time slots can be aligned such that the interfering signal is eliminated completely by applying a linear filter at the receiver. The precoding matrix of the relay is optimized jointly with the precoding matrix of the base station (BS). The number of data streams is optimized jointly for every user terminal (UT). The degree of freedom (DoF) performance of the proposed scheme as well as the conventional cooperation scheme are derived for multiple antennas at both base stations, relay station and user terminals. Simulation results show that the proposed alignment scheme can achieve a better DoF performance.

In this paper, we propose a new structure for a compact matched filter bank for a mutually orthogonal zero-correlation zone (MO-ZCZ) sequence set consisting of ternary sequence pairs obtained by Hadamard and binary ZCZ sequence sets; this construction reduces the number of two-input adders and delay elements. The matched filter banks are implemented on a field-programmable gate array (FPGA) with 51,840 logic elements (LEs). The proposed matched filter bank for an MO-ZCZ sequence set of length 160 can be constructed by a circuit size that is about 8.6% that of a conventional matched filter bank.

The present paper introduces a novel method for the construction of sequences that have a zero-correlation zone. For the proposed sequence set, both the cross-correlation function and the side lobe of the autocorrelation function are zero for phase shifts within the zero-correlation zone. The proposed scheme can generate a set of sequences, each of length 16n2, from an arbitrary Hadamard matrix of order n and a set of 4n trigonometric function sequences of length 2n. The proposed construction can generate an optimal sequence set that satisfies, for a given zero-correlation zone and sequence period, the theoretical bound on the number of members. The peak factor of the proposed sequence set is equal to √2.
A generalized chirp-like (GCL) sequence of period N is constructed by modulating a Zadoff-Chu sequence of period N with an arbitrary unimodular sequence of period m, where m divides N. Under some specific conditions, the cross-correlations between two GCL sequences are shown to have exactly the same magnitudes as those of their corresponding Zadoff-Chu sequences regardless of the employed unimodular sequences. In this paper, we first investigate the sufficient conditions under which such a relation holds. We then use them to construct a new class of optimal zero-correlation zone (ZCZ) sequence sets which can be considered to be an extension of the so-called GCL-ZCZ sequence sets.

Interoperability is one of the fundamental functions of a home network because such networks must support many different types of devices and services. Interoperability can be realized by converting messages among different middleware with rules. However, it is very difficult to define common rules to accommodate all differences among various middleware. In addition, most interoperability approaches only address the conversion of the message format and schema, and occasionally these are not enough for a semantic conversion. In this paper, we propose a systematic approach to solve the interoperability problem. For this, we classify three interoperability types, i.e., schema, profile, and procedure, and define the rules for each type. We called this interoperability scheme the Multiple stage Approach for Home network Interoperability (MAHI). In this paper, we present the design and implementation of MAHI for a three-stage conversion process. Finally, we illustrate some experimental and quantitative results. In the experiments, MAHI can provide efficient interoperability among different middleware and MAHI will be a method to deal with a complex home network interoperability.

An asymmetric zero correlation zone (A-ZCZ) sequence set is a type of ZCZ sequence set and consists of multiple sequence subsets. It is the most important property that is the cross-correlation function between arbitrary sequences belonging to different sequence subsets has quite a large zero-cross-correlation zone (ZCCZ). Our proposed A-ZCZ sequence sets can be constructed based on interleaved technique and orthogonality-preserving transformation by any perfect sequence of length P=Nq(2k+1) and Hadamard matrices of order T≥2, where N≥1, q≥1 and k≥1. If q=1, the novel sequence set is optimal ZCZ sequence set, which has parameters (TP,TN,2k+1) for all positive integers P=N(2k+1). The proposed A-ZCZ sequence sets have much larger ZCCZ, which are expected to be useful for designing spreading sequences for QS-CDMA systems.

As VLSI process node continue to shrink, chemical mechanical planarization (CMP) process for copper interconnect has become an essential technique for enabling many-layer interconnection. Recently, Edge-over-Erosion error (EoE-error), which originates from overpolishing and could cause yield loss, is observed in various CMP processes, while its mechanism is still unclear. To predict these errors, we propose an EoE-error prediction method that exploits machine learning algorithms. The proposed method consists of (1) error analysis stage, (2) layout parameter extraction stage, (3) model construction stage and (4) prediction stage. In the error analysis and parameter extraction stages, we analyze test chips and identify layout parameters which have an impact on EoE phenomenon. In the model construction stage, we construct a prediction model using the proposed multi-level machine learning method, and do predictions for designed layouts in the prediction stage. Experimental results show that the proposed method attained 2.7∼19.2% accuracy improvement of EoE-error prediction and 0.8∼10.1% improvement of non-EoE-error prediction compared with general machine learning methods. The proposed method makes it possible to prevent unexpected yield loss by recognizing EoE-errors before manufacturing.

Our proposed scheme is specifically designed to generate synchronization sequence with large family size. The optimal sequences can be constructed with ZCZ or LCZ based on the number of antennas. Furthermore Monte Carlo simulation results confirmed the expected detection probability for massive MIMO systems.
Due to the high speed mobile environment, the aeronautical Cognitive Radio (CR) communications base on the channel with the time-variant stochastic non-continuous spectrum. The traditional fading channel models, such as Rayleigh, Rice, Nakagami-m and multipath channel models, can not describe the whole property of the channels of CR communications. In this letter, the statistical channel modeling scheme for aeronautical CR communications is proposed with a M/M/s(1) queuing model, which properly describes the random spectrum occupation of the primary users, i.e. aircrafts in aeronautical communications. The proposed channel model can be easily utilized in the channel simulation to testify the validity and efficiency of the aeronautical CR communications.

Bandwidth aggregation (BAG) techniques have been researched for many years in an efforts to enhance throughput for multi-homed streaming service. However, despite of the considerable attention being devoted towards energy-efficient communications, the power efficiency for BAG has not been considered yet. To improve the power efficiency in multi-homed streaming service, this paper proposes Power Minimized Rate Allocation Scheme (PMRAS) with optimal rate allocation at each interface while guaranteeing an allowable packet loss rate. In developing PMRAS, we first formulate a power consumption model based on the network interface state (i.e. active and idle state). We adopt a Lagrangian algorithm to solve the convex optimization problem of power consumption. The performance results gained from a numerical analysis and simulations (NS-2) reveal that the proposed scheme offers superior performance over the existing rate allocation scheme for BAG with guaranteed required quality of service.
Network selection is one of the hot issues in the fusion of heterogeneous wireless networks (HWNs). However, most of previous works only consider selecting single-access network, which wastes other available network resources, rarely take account of multi-access. To make full utilization of available coexisted networks, this paper proposes a novel multi-access selection algorithm based on joint utility optimization for users with multi-mode terminals. At first, the algorithm adopts exponential smoothing method (ESM) to get smoothed values of received signal strength (RSS). Then we obtain network joint utility function under the constraints of bandwidth and number of networks, with the consideration of trade-off between network benefit and cost. At last, Lagrange multiplier and dual optimization methods are used to maximize joint utility. Users select multiple networks according to the optimal association matrix of user and network. The simulation results show that the proposed algorithm can optimize network joint utility, improve throughput, effectively reduce vertical handoff number, and ensure Quality of Service (QoS).

In this paper, an adaptive expansion strategy (AES) is proposed for multiple-input/multiple-output (MIMO) detection in the presence of circular signals. By exploiting channel properties, the AES classifies MIMO channels into three types: excellent, average and deep fading. To avoid unnecessary branch-searching, the AES adopts single expansion (SE), partial expansion (PE) and full expansion (FE) for excellent channels, average channels and deep fading channels, respectively. In the PE, the non-circularity of signal is exploited, and the widely linear processing is extended from non-circular signals to circular signals by I (or Q) component cancellation. An analytical performance analysis is given to quantify the performance improvement. Simulation results show that the proposed algorithm can achieve quasi-optimal performance with much less complexity (hundreds of flops/symbol are saved) compared with the fixed-complexity sphere decoder (FSD) and the sphere decoder (SD).
