    The three-bit balanced ternary quantum voltage generator was designed and tested. This voltage generator is based on zero-crossing Shapiro steps (ZCSSs) in asymmetric two-junction SQUID. ZCSSs were observed on the current-voltage curves, and maximum and minimum current of ZCSSs were almost same, respectively for the three bits. 27-step quantum voltages from -13Φ0f to +13 Φ0f were observed by combinations of inputs of bit1, bit2 and bit3.

    In order to obtain the uniform film having well-defined lead halide-based layer perovskite structure, we proposed squeezed out method. It is found that the optimized condition with respect to docosylammonium bromide is revealed by employing hexadecylammonium bromide among tetradecylammonium bromide, hexadecylammonium bromide and octadecylammonium bromide.

  • Pricing for Mobile Data Services Considering Service Evolution and Change of User Heterogeneity

    The recent increase in mobile data traffic has resulted in service quality problems. Although an economic approach to control congestion can be achieved by pricing, the current pricing schedule of mobile data services instead causes smartphone users to create more traffic. We establish a pricing model based on the distribution of demand types among heterogeneous users to improve the current tariff structure; our method mixes usage-based and fixed-fee pricing schemes. The results derived from the application of this model to survey data on willingness-to-pay for mobile data service demonstrate that the provider can decrease the amount of data traffic and increase the expected revenue by lowering the price for a unit of data and raising the fixed-fee level for unlimited service. The model also explains the changing weight of usage-based and fixed-fee pricing schemes by considering shifts in the type distribution through service evolution and proposes pricing strategies for future communications services.

    The imaging of humans using radar is promising for surveillance systems. Although conventional radar systems detect the presence or position of intruders, it is difficult to acquire shape and motion details because the resolution is insufficient. This paper presents a high-resolution human imaging algorithm for an ultra-wideband (UWB) Doppler radar. The proposed algorithm estimates three-dimensional human images using interferometry and, using velocity information, rejects false images created by the interference of body parts. Experiments verify that our proposed algorithm achieves adequate pedestrian imaging. In addition, accurate shape and motion parameters are extracted from the estimated images.

    This paper proposes an IP fast rerouting method which can be implemented in OpenFlow framework. While the current IP is robust, its reactive and global rerouting processes require the long recovery time against failure. On the other hand, IP fast rerouting provides a milliseconds-order recovery time by proactive and local restoration mechanism. Implementation of IP fast rerouting is not common in real systems, however; it requires the coordination of additional forwarding functions to a commercial hardware. We propose an IP fast rerouting mechanism using OpenFlow that separates control function from hardware implementation. Our mechanism does not require any extension of current forwarding hardware. On the contrary, increase of backup routes becomes main overhead of our proposal. We also embed the compression mechanism to our IP fast rerouting mechanism. We show the effectiveness of our IP fast rerouting in terms of the fast restoration and the backup routes compression effect through computer simulations.

    A construction of shift sequence sets is proposed. Multiple distinct shift sequence sets are obtained by changing the parameters of the shift sequences. The shift sequences satisfy the conditions that P|L and P ≥ 2, where P is the length of the shift sequences, L is the length of the zero-correlation zone or low-correlation zone (ZCZ/LCZ). Then based on these shift sequence sets, many shift distinct ZCZ/LCZ sequence sets are constructed by using interleaving technique and complex Hadamard matrices. Furthermore, the new construction is optimal under the conditions proposed in this paper. Compared with previous constructions, the proposed construction extends the number of shift distinct ZCZ/LCZ sequence sets, so that more sequence sets are obtained for multi-cell quasi-synchronous code-division multiple access (QS-CDMA) systems.

    This paper proposes a novel scheme called as“frequency domain imbalance estimation” that estimates the imbalance of the Hilbert transformer in heterodyne multimode/band receivers with baseband automatic gain control (AGC). The proposed scheme uses correlation matrices in the frequency domain. This enables the receivers to keep high transmission performance in spite of the imbalance of the analog Hilbert transformer, by offsetting the imbalance. Moreover, the baseband AGC relaxes the requirement of the baseband A/D converter. The performance of imbalance estimation and imbalance cancellation is verified by computer simulation. As a result, it is shown that the proposed scheme not only estimates the imbalance of Hilbert transformer with extremely high precision, but also cancels the image-band interference such that it achieves the theoretical performance.

    A leakage-aware Coordinated Scheduling/Coordinated Beamforming (CS/CB) scheme for heterogeneous networks with layered limited feedback is proposed. In particular, all pico cells cooperatively select an optimal beamforming vector for the macro cell within a CoMP cluster so as to minimizing leakage power from the macro cell. Simulations show that the proposed scheme outperforms the conventional non-CoMP scheme with perfect channel state information at teansmitter (CSIT). Furthermore, the feedback amount and scheduler complexity is decreased greatly.

    IP fast rerouting has widely been studied for realizing millisecond-order recovery on pure IP networks. This paper proposes IP fast rerouting using backup topologies against concurrent double failures. The main issue in recovering from multiple failures is avoiding forwarding loops. To avoid forwarding loops, we propose a deterministic forwarding algorithm, which estimates the concurrently occurring failures from the packet header information. We also propose an efficient backup topology design algorithm which is both loop-free and which reduces the number of backup topologies. Our key idea is preparing the adequate diversity of backup routes for arbitrary source and destination pairs by combination of backup topologies. For efficient computation of diverse routes, we propose a similarity comparison-based algorithm between the original topology and the backup topologies. Our algorithm can achieve nearly optimal loop-free restoration from double failures on realistic topologies without explicit failure notification.

    We present a privacy preserving method based on inserting dummy data into original data on the data structure called Zero-suppressed BDDs (ZDDs). Our task is distributed itemset mining, which is frequent itemset mining from horizontally partitioned databases stored in distributed places called sites. We focus on the fundamental case in which there are two sites and each site has a database managed by its owner. By dividing the process of distributed itemset mining into the set union and the set intersection, we show how to make the operations secure in the sense of undistinguishability of data, which is our criterion for privacy preserving based on the already proposed criterion, p-indistinguishability. Our method conceals the original data in each operation by inserting dummy data, where ZDDs, BDD-based directed acyclic graphs, are adopted to represent sets of itemsets compactly and to implement the set operations in constructing the distributed itemset mining process. As far as we know, this is the first technique which gives a concrete representation of sets of itemsets and an implementation of set operations for privacy preserving in distributed itemset mining. Our experiments show that the proposed method provides undistinguishability of dummy data. Furthermore, we compare our method with Secure Multiparty Computation (SMC), which is one of the well-known techniques of secure computation.

    We focus on the cooperative mobile positioning based on the received signal strength for heterogeneous environments. We use the least squares method to estimate the channel attenuation coefficients, and hyperbolic method to determine the position. For increasing accuracy, we use different weighting to the adjacent users' data in the attenuation coefficients estimation.

    The large data-transfer time among different cores is a big problem in heterogeneous multi-core processors. This paper presents a method to accelerate the data transfers exploiting data-transfer-units together with complex memory allocation. We used block matching, which is very common in image processing, to evaluate our technique. The proposed method reduces the data-transfer time by more than 42% compared to the earlier works that use CPU-based data transfers. Moreover, the total processing time is only 15 ms for a VGA image with 1616 pixel blocks.

    In time-varying frequency selective channels, to obtain high-rate joint time-frequency diversity, linear dispersion coded orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (LDC-OFDM), has recently been proposed. Compared with OFDM systems, single-carrier systems may retain the advantages of lower PAPR and lower sensitivity to carrier frequency offset (CFO) effects, which motivates this paper to investigate how to achieve joint frequency and time diversity for high-rate single-carrier block transmission systems. Two systems are proposed: linear dispersion coded cyclic-prefix single-carrier modulation (LDC-CP-SCM) and linear dispersion coded zero-padded single-carrier modulation (LDC-ZP-SCM) across either multiple CP-SCM or ZP-SCM blocks, respectively. LDC-SCM may use a layered two-stage LDC decoding with lower complexity. This paper analyzes the diversity properties of LDC-CP-SCM, and provides a sufficient condition for LDC-CP-SCM to maximize all available joint frequency and time diversity gain and coding gain. This paper shows that LDC-ZP-SCM may be effectively equipped with low-complexity minimum mean-squared error (MMSE) equalizers. A lower complexity scheme, linear transformation coded SCM (LTC-SCM), is also proposed with good diversity performance.

    Recently, asymmetric zero-correlation zone (A-ZCZ) sequence sets that are composed of several sequence subsets have been proposed. In A-ZCZ sequence sets, the zero-cross-correlation zone (ZCCZ) length between different sequence subsets is larger than the zero-correlation zone (ZCZ) length in each sequence subset. However, the ZCCZ length between different sequence subsets was not precisely shown in previous studies. The present letter shows precisely the ZCCZ length between different sequence subsets. This information is useful for estimating the magnitude of inter-cell interference when designing approximately synchronized code-division multiple-access (AS-CDMA) systems.

    As we are moving toward next generation wireless networks, we are facing the integration of heterogeneous access networks. The main challenge is to provide mobile users moving freely across different radio access technologies with satisfactory quality of services for a variety of applications. Consequently, the seamless roaming over heterogeneous networks is an important concern. To minimize the disruption to the ongoing session when a mobile user is moving from one access network to another, we propose a framework that integrates IEEE 802.11 WLANs and IEEE 802.16 WMANs based on the IEEE 802.21, so-called Media Independent Handover (MIH), to facilitate both homogeneous and heterogeneous handovers. Both numerical analysis and simulation results show that seamless roaming between WLAN and WMAN can be achieved and much better performance can be obtained compared with the IEEE 802.21 standard approach.

  • Effects of Shapes of Contact Surfaces on Break Arcs Occurring between Electrical Contacts in Which a Magnet is Embedded

    Break arcs are rotated by the radial magnetic field formed by a magnet embedded in the pipe-shaped cathode. The arcs are generated in switching a DC42 V resistive circuit. The closed contact current varies from 5 A to 21 A. The curvature of the anode surface is varied to study the dependence of the arc length and the positions of the break arcs in the contact gap. The following results are obtained: (i) as current decreases, there is more difference in arc duration among different curvatures; (ii) as current decreases, the arc duration decreases with decrease of the radius of curvature; (iii) in each contact curvature, the anode spots region is located nearer to the center axis than the cathode spots region; (iv) the arc length just before arc extinction is independent of the curvature of the contacts.

    In this letter, a quantization error-aware Tomlinson-Harashinma Precoding (THP) is proposed based on the equivalent zero-forcing (ZF) criterion in Multiuser Multiple-Input Single-Output (MU-MISO) systems with limited feedback, where the transmitter has only quantized channel direction information (CDI). This precoding scheme is robust to the channel uncertainties arising from the quantization error and the lack of channel magnitude information (CMI). Our simulation results show that the new THP scheme outperforms the conventional precoding scheme in limited feedback systems with respect to Bit Error Ratio (BER).

    Orthogonal space-time block code (OSTBC) can achieve full diversity with a simple MLD, but OSTBC only achieves 3/4 of the maximum rate if more than two transmit antennas are used. To solve this problem, a quasi-orthogonal STBC (QOSTBC) scheme has been proposed. Even though a QOSTBC scheme can achieve the full rate, there are interference terms resulting from neighboring signals during detection. The existing QOSTBC using the pairs of transmitted symbols can be detected with two parallel MLD. Therefore, MLD based QOSTBC has higher complexity than OSTBC. To reduce the detection complexity, in this paper, we propose the heterogeneous constellation based QOSTBC for improving the detection property of QRD-MLD with maintaining a simple decoding structure.

    With the aim of achieving heterogeneous integration of compound semiconductors with silicon technology, the fabrication of an InP/InGaAs transferred-substrate HBT (TS-HBT) on a Si substrate is reported. A current gain of 70 and a maximum current density of 12.3 mA/µm2 were confirmed in a TS-HBT with a 340-nm-wide emitter. From microwave characteristics of the TS-HBT obtained after de-embedding, a cutoff frequency (fT) of 510 GHz and a 26% reduction of the base-collector capacitance were estimated. However, the observed fT was too high for an HBT with a 150-nm-thick collector. This discrepancy can be explained by the error in de-embedding, because an open pad is observed to have large capacitance and strong frequency dependence due to the conductivity of the Si substrate.

    In resetting attacks against a proof system, a prover or a verifier is reset and enforced to use the same random tape on various inputs as many times as an adversary may want. Recent deployment of cloud computing gives these attacks a new importance. This paper shows that argument systems for any NP language that are both resettably-sound and resettable zero-knowledge are possible by a constant-round protocol in the BPK model. For that sake, we define and construct a resettably-extractable conditional commitment scheme.
