Manufacturers are coping with increasing pressures in quality, cost and efficiency as more and more industries are moving from traditional setup to industry 4.0 based digitally transformed setup due to its numerous playbacks. Within the manufacturing domain organizational structures and processes are complex, therefore adopting industry 4.0 and finding an optimized re-engineered business process is difficult without using a systematic methodology. Authors have developed Business Process Re-engineering (BPR) and Business Process Optimization (BPO) methods but no consolidated methodology have been seen in the literature that is based on industry 4.0 and incorporates both the BPR and BPO. We have presented a consolidated and systematic re-engineering and optimization framework for a manufacturing industry setup. The proposed framework performs Evolutionary Multi-Objective Combinatorial Optimization using Multi-Objective Genetic Algorithm (MOGA). An example process from an aircraft manufacturing factory has been optimized and re-engineered with available set of technologies from industry 4.0 based on the criteria of lower cost, reduced processing time and reduced error rate. At the end to validate the proposed framework Business Process Model and Notation (BPMN) is used for simulations and perform comparison between AS-IS and TO-BE processes as it is widely used standard for business process specification. The proposed framework will be used in converting an industry from traditional setup to industry 4.0 resulting in cost reduction, increased performance and quality.

At present, the application of different types of memristors in electronics is being deeply studied. Given the nonlinearity characterizing memristors, a circuit with memristors cannot be treated by classical circuit analysis. In this paper, memristor is equivalent to a nonlinear dynamic system composed of linear dynamic system and nonlinear static system by Volterra series. The nonlinear transfer function of memristor is derived. In the complex frequency domain, the n-order complex frequency response of memristor is established by multiple Laplace transform, and the response of MLC parallel circuit is taken as an example to verify. Theoretical analysis shows that the complex frequency domain analysis method of memristor transforms the problem of solving nonlinear circuit in time domain into n times complex frequency domain analysis of linear circuit, which provides an idea for nonlinear dynamic system analysis.

Platform-mounted small antennas increase dielectric loss and conductive loss and decrease the radiation efficiency. This paper proposes a novel antenna design method to improve radiation efficiency for platform-mounted small antennas by characteristic mode analysis. The proposed method uses mapping of modal weighting coefficient (MWC) and infinitesimal dipole and evaluate the metal casing with 100mm × 55mm × 23mm as a platform excited by an inverted-F antenna. The simulation and measurement results show that the radiation efficiency of 5% is improved with the whole system from 2.5% of the single antenna.

A hybrid memory architecture (HMA) that consists of some distinct memory devices is expected to achieve a good balance between high performance and large capacity. Unlike conventional memory architectures, the HMA needs the metadata for data management since the data are migrated between the memory devices during the execution of an application. The memory controller caches the metadata to avoid accessing the memory devices for the metadata reference. However, as the amount of the metadata increases in proportion to the size of the HMA, the memory controller needs to handle a large amount of metadata. As a result, the memory controller cannot cache all the metadata and increases the number of metadata references. This results in an increase in the access latency to reach the target data and degrades the performance. To solve this problem, this paper proposes a metadata prefetching mechanism for HMAs. The proposed mechanism loads the metadata needed in the near future by prefetching. Moreover, to increase the effect of the metadata prefetching, the proposed mechanism predicts the metadata used in the near future based on an address difference that is the difference between two consecutive access addresses. The evaluation results show that the proposed metadata prefetching mechanism can improve the instructions per cycle by up to 44% and 9% on average.

A linear and broadband power amplifier (PA) for 5G phased-array is presented. The design improves the linearity by operating the transistors in deep class AB region. The design broadens the bandwidth by applying the inter-stage weakly-coupled transformer. The theory of transformers is illustrated by analyzing the odd- and even-mode model. Based on this, the odd-mode Q factor is used to evaluate the quality of impedance matching. Weakly- and strongly-coupled transformers are compared and analyzed in both the design process and applicable characteristics. Besides, a well-founded method to achieve the transformer-based balanced-unbalanced transformation is proposed. The fully integrated two-stage PA is designed and implemented in a 65-nm CMOS process with a 1-V power supply to provide a maximum small-signal gain of 19dB. The maximum output 1-dB compressed power (P1dB) of 17.4dBm and the saturated output power (PSAT) of 18dBm are measured at 28GHz. The power-added efficiency (PAE) of the P1dB is 26.5%. From 23 to 32GHz, the measured P1dB is above 16dBm, covering the potential 5G bands worldwide around 28GHz.

Recently, machine learning approaches and user movement history analysis on mobile devices have attracted much attention. Generally, we need to apply text data into the word embedding tool for acquiring word vectors as the preprocessing of machine learning approaches. However, it is difficult for mobile devices to afford the huge cost of high-dimensional vector calculation. Thus, a low-cost user behavior and user movement history analysis approach should be considered. To address this issue, firstly, we convert the zip code and street house number into vectors instead of textual address information to reduce the cost of spatial vector calculation. Secondly, we propose a low-cost high-performance semantic and physical distance (real distance) calculation method that applied zip-code-based vectors. Finally, to verify the validity of our proposed method, we utilize the US zip code data to calculate both semantic and physical distances and compare their results with the previous method. The experimental results showed that our proposed method could significantly improve the performance of distance calculation and effectively control the cost to a low level.

In this study, edge diffraction of an electromagnetic plane wave by two-dimensional conducting wedges has been analyzed by the physical optics (PO) method for both E and H polarizations. Non-uniform and uniform asymptotic solutions of diffracted fields have been derived. A unified edge diffraction coefficient has also been derived with four cotangent functions from the conventional angle-dependent coefficients. Numerical calculations have been made to compare the results with those by other methods, such as the exact solution and the uniform geometrical theory of diffraction (UTD). A good agreement has been observed to confirm the validity of our method.

The existing research on Amdahl's law is limited to multi/many-core processors, and cannot be applied to the important parallel processing architecture of coarse-grained reconfigurable arrays. This paper studies the relation between the multi-level parallelism of block cipher algorithms and the architectural characteristics of coarse-grain reconfigurable arrays. We introduce the key variables that affect the performance of reconfigurable arrays, such as communication overhead and configuration overhead, into Amdahl's law. On this basis, we propose a performance model for coarse-grain reconfigurable block cipher array (CGRBA) based on the extended Amdahl's law. In addition, this paper establishes the optimal integer nonlinear programming model, which can provide a parameter reference for the architecture design of CGRBA. The experimental results show that: (1) reducing the communication workload ratio and increasing the number of configuration pages reasonably can significantly improve the algorithm performance on CGRBA; (2) the communication workload ratio has a linear effect on the execution time.

In this letter, we analyze the error rate performance of M-ary coherent free-space optical (FSO) communications under strong atmospheric turbulence. Specifically, we derive the exact error rates for M-ary phase shift keying (MPSK) and M-ary quadrature amplitude modulation (MQAM) based on moment-generating function (MGF) with negative exponential distributed turbulence, where maximum ratio combining (MRC) receiver is adopted to mitigate the turbulence effects. Additionally, by evaluating the asymptotic error rate in high signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) regime, it is possible to effectively investigate and predict the error rate performance for various system configurations. The accuracy and the effectiveness of our theoretical analyses are verified via numerical results.

With the spread of the 5th generation mobile phone, the increase of the output power of PA (power amplifier) has become important, and in recent years, differential amplifiers that can increase the output voltage amplitude for the power supply voltage have been examined from the viewpoint of power synthesis. In the case of a differential PA, in addition to the advantage of voltage amplitude, the load impedance can be set 4 times as much as that of a single-ended PA, which makes it possible to reduce the impact of parasitic resistance. With the study of the differential PA, many transformer matching circuits have been studied in addition to the LC matching circuits that have been widely used in the past. The transformer matching circuit can easily realize the differential-single conversion, and the transformer matching circuit is an indispensable technology in the differential PA. As with the LC matching circuit, widening the bandwidth of the transformer matching circuit is at issue. In this paper, characteristics of basic transformer matching circuits are analyzed by adding input/output shunt capacitance to transformers and the conditions of bandwidth improvement are clarified. In addition, by comparing the FBW (fractional bandwidth) with the LC 2-stage matching circuit, it is shown that the FBW can be competitive.

In 2017, Tang et al. provided a complete characterization of generalized bent functions from ℤ2n to ℤq(q = 2m) in terms of their component functions (IEEE Trans. Inf. Theory. vol.63, no.7, pp.4668-4674). In this letter, for a general even q, we aim to provide some characterizations and more constructions of generalized bent functions with flexible coefficients. Firstly, we present some sufficient conditions for a generalized Boolean function with at most three terms to be gbent. Based on these results, we give a positive answer to a remaining question proposed by Hodžić in 2015. We also prove that the sufficient conditions are also necessary in some special cases. However, these sufficient conditions whether they are also necessary, in general, is left as an open problem. Secondly, from a uniform point of view, we provide a secondary construction of gbent function, which includes several known constructions as special cases.

In this paper, the sum cell rate based on altruistic and egoistic multicell distributed beamforming (MDBF) is studied with local channel state Information (CSI). To start with, we provide two sufficient conditions for implementing altruistic and egoistic strategy based on the traditional method, and give the proof of those condition. Second, a MDBF method based on the altruistic and egoistic strategy is proposed, where the altruistic strategy is implemented with the internal penalty function. Finally, simulation results demonstrate that the effectiveness of the sufficient conditions and the proposed method has the different performance and advantages.

Long-term coherent integration can significantly improve the ability to detect maneuvering targets by radar. Especially for weak targets, longer integration times are needed to improve. But for non-radially moving targets, the time-varying angle between target moving direction and radar line of sight will cause non-linear range migration (NLRM) and non-linear Doppler frequency migration (NLDFM) within long-time coherent processing, which precludes existing methods that ignore angle changes, and seriously degrades the performance of coherent integration. To solve this problem, an efficient method based on Radon Fourier transform (RFT) with modified variant angle model (ARFT) is proposed. In this method, a new parameter angle is introduced to optimize the target motion model, and the NLRM and NLDFM are eliminated by range-velocity-angle joint three-dimensional searching of ARFT. Compared with conventional algorithms, the proposed method can more accurately compensate for the NLRM and NLDFM, thus achieving better integration performance and detection probability for non-radial moving weak targets. Numerical simulations verify the effectiveness and advantages of the proposed method.

Speech separation is the task of extracting target speech while suppressing background interference components. In applications like video telephones, visual information about the target speaker is available, which can be leveraged for multi-speaker speech separation. Most previous multi-speaker separation methods are mainly based on convolutional or recurrent neural networks. Recently, Transformer-based Seq2Seq models have achieved state-of-the-art performance in various tasks, such as neural machine translation (NMT), automatic speech recognition (ASR), etc. Transformer has showed an advantage in modeling audio-visual temporal context by multi-head attention blocks through explicitly assigning attention weights. Besides, Transformer doesn't have any recurrent sub-networks, thus supporting parallelization of sequence computation. In this paper, we propose a novel speaker-independent audio-visual speech separation method based on Transformer, which can be flexibly applied to unknown number and identity of speakers. The model receives both audio-visual streams, including noisy spectrogram and speaker lip embeddings, and predicts a complex time-frequency mask for the corresponding target speaker. The model is made up by three main components: audio encoder, visual encoder and Transformer-based mask generator. Two different structures of encoders are investigated and compared, including ResNet-based and Transformer-based. The performance of the proposed method is evaluated in terms of source separation and speech quality metrics. The experimental results on the benchmark GRID dataset show the effectiveness of the method on speaker-independent separation task in multi-talker environments. The model generalizes well to unseen identities of speakers and noise types. Though only trained on 2-speaker mixtures, the model achieves reasonable performance when tested on 2-speaker and 3-speaker mixtures. Besides, the model still shows an advantage compared with previous audio-visual speech separation works.

Fifth-generation (5G) mobile communication systems employ beamforming technology using massive multiple-input and multiple-output (MIMO) to improve the reception quality and spectrum efficiency within a cell. Meanwhile, coordinated beamforming among multiple base stations is an effective approach to improving the spectrum efficiency at the cell edges, in which massive MIMO is deployed at geographically distant base stations and beamforming control is conducted in a cooperative manner. Codebook-based beamforming is a method for realizing multi-cell coordinated beamforming, in which each base station selects one of multiple beams that are predefined in a codebook. In codebook-based beamforming, it is important to design an efficient codebook that takes into account the beam allocation and the number of beams. In general, the larger the number of beams defined in a codebook, the more finely tuned the beam control can be and a greater improvement in spectrum efficiency can be expected. However, it requires a huge signal processing to optimize the beam combinations with a large number of beams by coordinated beamforming. This paper proposes a novel codebook design that efficiently assigns beam directions and widths in a vertical plane. Computer simulations showed that the proposed codebook performs as well as the conventional method while requiring fewer beam combinations.

High-altitude platform stations (HAPSs) are recognized as a promising technology for coverage extension in the sixth generation (6G) mobile communications and beyond. The purpose of this study is to develop a HAPS system with a coverage radius of 100km and high capacity by focusing on the following two aspects: array antenna structure and user selection. HAPS systems must jointly use massive multiple-input multiple-output (mMIMO) and multiuser MIMO techniques to increase their capacity. However, the coverage achieved by a conventional planar array antenna is limited to a circular area with a radius of only tens of kilometers. A conventional semi-orthogonal user selection (SUS) scheme based on the orthogonality of channel vectors achieves high capacity, but it has high complexity. First, this paper proposes a cylindrical mMIMO system to achieve an ultra-wide coverage radius of 100km and high capacity. Second, this paper presents a novel angle-based user selection (AUS) scheme, where a user selection problem is formulated as a maximization of the minimum angular difference between users over all user groups. Finally, a low-complexity suboptimal algorithm (SA) for AUS is also proposed. Assuming an area with a 100km radius, simulation results demonstrate that the proposed cylindrical mMIMO system improves the signal-to-interference-plus-noise ratio by approx. 12dB at the boundary of the area, and it achieves approx. 1.5 times higher capacity than the conventional mMIMO which uses a planar array antenna. In addition, the results show that the proposed AUS scheme improves the lower percentiles in the system capacity distribution compared with SUS and basic random user selection. Furthermore, the computational complexity of the proposed SA is in the order of only 1/4000 that of SUS.

Linear codes with a few-weight have important applications in combinatorial design, strongly regular graphs and cryptography. In this paper, we first construct a class of Boolean functions with at most five-valued Walsh spectra, and determine their spectrum distribution. Then, we derive two classes of linear codes with at most six-weight from the new functions. Meanwhile, the length, dimension and weight distributions of the codes are obtained. Results show that both of the new codes are minimal and among them, one is wide minimal code and the other is a narrow minimal code and thus can be used to design secret sharing scheme with good access structures. Finally, some Magma programs are used to verify the correctness of our results.

Computer networks tend to be subjected to the proliferation of mobile demands, therefore it poses a great challenge to guarantee the quality of network service. For real-time systems, the QoS performance bound analysis for the complex network topology and background traffic in modern networks is often difficult. Network calculus, nevertheless, converts a complex non-linear network system into an analyzable linear system to accomplish more accurate delay bound analysis. The existing network environment contains complex network resource allocation schemes, and delay bound analysis is generally pessimistic, hence it is essential to modify the analysis model to improve the bound accuracy. In this paper, the main research approach is to obtain the measurement results of an actual network by building a measurement environment and the corresponding theoretical results by network calculus. A comparison between measurement data and theoretical results is made for the purpose of clarifying the scheme of bandwidth scheduling. The measurement results and theoretical analysis results are verified and corrected, in order to propose an accurate per-flow end-to-end delay bound analytic model for a large-scale scheduling network. On this basis, the instructional significance of the analysis results for the engineering construction is discussed.

In this paper, the scattering far-field from a circular electric conducting cylinder has been analyzed by physical optics (PO) approximation for both H and E polarizations. The evaluation of radiation integrations due to the PO current is conducted numerically and analytically. While non-uniform and uniform asymptotic solutions have been derived by the saddle point method, a separate approximation has been made for forward scattering direction. Comparisons among our approximation, direct numerical integration and exact solution results yield a good agreement for electrically large cylinders.

The beam pattern with a low sidelobe level in precise position is achieved by controlling the switching sequence in time modulated cross array. Numerical results verify the correctness of the proposed method.
