This paper expands our previously proposed semi-blind uplink interference suppression scheme for multicell multiuser massive MIMO systems to support multi modulus signals. The original proposal applies the channel state information (CSI) aided blind adaptive array (BAA) interference suppression after the beamspace preprocessing and the decision feedback channel estimation (DFCE). BAA is based on the constant modulus algorithm (CMA) which can fully exploit the degree of freedom (DoF) of massive antenna arrays to suppress both inter-user interference (IUI) and inter-cell interference (ICI). Its effectiveness has been verified under the extensive pilot contamination constraint. Unfortunately, CMA basically works well only for constant envelope signals such as QPSK and thus the proposed scheme should be expanded to cover QAM signals for more general use. This paper proposes to apply the multi modulus algorithm (MMA) and the minimum mean square error weight derivation based on data-aided sample matrix inversion (MMSE-SMI). It can successfully realize interference suppression even with the use of multi-level envelope signals such as 16QAM with satisfactorily outage probability performance below the fifth percentile.

Utilizing the enormous potential of quantum computers requires new and practical quantum algorithms. Motivated by the success of machine learning, we investigate the fusion of neural and quantum computing, and propose a learning method for a quantum neural network inspired by the Hebb rule. Based on an analogy between neuron-neuron interactions and qubit-qubit interactions, the proposed quantum learning rule successfully changes the coupling strengths between qubits according to training data. To evaluate the effectiveness and practical use of the method, we apply it to the memorization process of a neuro-inspired quantum associative memory model. Our numerical simulation results indicate that the proposed quantum versions of the Hebb and anti-Hebb rules improve the learning performance. Furthermore, we confirm that the probability of retrieving a target pattern from multiple learned patterns is sufficiently high.

In this paper, we propose new generation methods of two-dimensional (2D) optical zero-correlation zone (ZCZ) sequences with the high peak autocorrelation amplitude. The 2D optical ZCZ sequence consists of a pair of a binary sequence which takes 1 or 0 and a bi-phase sequence which takes 1 or -1, and has a zero-correlation zone in the two-dimensional correlation function. Because of these properties, the 2D optical ZCZ sequence is suitable for optical code-division multiple access (OCDMA) system using an LED array having a plurality of light-emitting elements arranged in a lattice pattern. The OCDMA system using the 2D optical ZCZ sequence can be increased the data rate and can be suppressed interference by the light of adjacent LEDs. By using the proposed generation methods, we can improve the peak autocorrelation amplitude of the sequence. This means that the BER performance of the OCDMA system using the sequence can be improved.

This paper presents a low profile high-efficiency transmitarray (TA) antenna based on a hybrid frequency selective surface (FSS). The hybrid FSS consists of two types of unit cells that have different incident angles and TE/TM polarization. This design minimizes the performance degradation caused by the oblique incident angle when designing a low profile TA antenna. In addition, the set of transmission phases to minimize transmission loss is selected by employing the optimal output phase reference. To verify its feasibility, a low profile TA (focal length/diameter of FSS =0.24) antenna that employs a unit patch antenna with a low gain and wide beamwidth as a feed antenna without an additional structure is designed. The simulated and measured results are in good agreement. In particular, the high simulated and measured aperture efficiencies of 42.7% and 41.9%, respectively, are obtained at 10GHz, respectively.

Pseudorandom sequences with low autocorrelation magnitude play important roles in various environments. Let N be a prime with N=Mf+1, where M and f are positive integers. A new method to construct M-sequences of period 4N is given. We show that these new sequences have low autocorrelation magnitude.

ISO/IEC standardizes several chosen ciphertext-secure key encapsulation mechanism (KEM) schemes in ISO/IEC 18033-2. However, all ISO/IEC KEM schemes are not quantum resilient. In this paper, we introduce new isogeny-based KEM schemes (i.e., CSIDH-ECIES-KEM and CSIDH-PSEC-KEM) by modifying Diffie-Hellman-based KEM schemes in ISO/IEC standards. The main advantage of our schemes are compactness. The key size and the ciphertext overhead of our schemes are smaller than these of SIKE, which is submitted to NIST's post-quantum cryptosystems standardization, for current security analyses. Moreover, though SIKE is proved in the classical random oracle model, CSIDH-PSEC-KEM is proved in the quantum random oracle model. Finally, we discuss difficulty to construct isogeny-based KEM from ISO/IEC KEM schemes in the standard model (i.e., ACE-KEM and FACE-KEM).

Multivariate public key cryptosystem (MPKC) is one of the major post quantum cryptosystems (PQC), and the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) recently selected four MPKCs as candidates of their PQC. The security of MPKC depends on the hardness of solving systems of algebraic equations over finite fields. In particular, the multivariate quadratic (MQ) problem is that of solving such a system consisting of quadratic polynomials and is regarded as an important research subject in cryptography. In the Fukuoka MQ challenge project, the hardness of the MQ problem is discussed, and algorithms for solving the MQ problem and the computational results obtained by these algorithms are reported. Algorithms for computing Gröbner basis are used as the main tools for solving the MQ problem. For example, the F4 algorithm and M4GB algorithm have succeeded in solving many instances of the MQ problem provided by the project. In this paper, based on the F4-style algorithm, we present an efficient algorithm to solve the MQ problems with dense polynomials generated in the Fukuoka MQ challenge project. We experimentally show that our algorithm requires less computational time and memory for these MQ problems than the F4 algorithm and M4GB algorithm. We succeeded in solving Type II and III problems of Fukuoka MQ challenge using our algorithm when the number of variables was 37 in both problems.

This paper proposes a transparent glass quartz antenna for 5G-millimeter-wave-connected vehicles and clarifies the characteristics of signal reception when the glass antennas are placed on the windows of a vehicle traveling in an urban environment. Synthetic fused quartz is a material particularly suited for millimeter-wave devices owing to its excellent low transmission loss. Realizing synthetic fused quartz devices requires accurate micromachining technology specialized for the material coupled with the material technology. This paper presents a transparent antenna comprising a thin mesh pattern on a quartz substrate for installation on a vehicle window. A comparison of distributed transparent antennas and an omnidirectional antenna shows that the relative received power of the distributed antenna system is higher than that of the omnidirectional antenna. In addition, results show that the power received is similar when using vertically and horizontally polarized antennas. The design is verified in a field test using transparent antennas on the windows of a real vehicle.

This paper proposes coded modulation for physical layer network coding in multiple input multiple output orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (MIMO-OFDM) bi-directional wireless relay systems where precoding is applied. The proposed coded modulation enables the relays to decode the received signals, which improves the transmission performance. Soft input decoding for the proposed coded modulation is proposed. Furthermore, we propose two precoder weight optimization techniques, called “per subcarrier weight optimization” and “total weight optimization”. This paper shows a precoder configuration based on the optimization with the lattice reduction or the sorted QR-decomposition. The performance of the proposed network coding is evaluated by computer simulation in a MIMO-OFDM two-hop wireless relay system with the 16 quadrature amplitude modulation (QAM) or the 256QAM. The proposed coded modulation attains a coding gain of about 2dB at the BER of 10-4. The total weight optimization achieves about 1dB better BER performance than the other at the BER of 10-4.

New boundary integral equations are proposed for two-port slab waveguides which satisfy single mode condition. The boundary integral equations are combined with the orthogonality of guided mode and non-guided field. They are solved by the standard boundary element method with no use of mode expansion technique. Reflection and transmission coefficients of guided mode are directly determined by the boundary element method. To validate the proposed method, step waveguides for TE wave incidence and triangular rib waveguides for TM wave incidence are investigated by numerical calculations.

During the execution of software systems, their execution data can be recorded. By fully exploiting these data, software practitioners can discover behavioral models describing the actual execution of the underlying software system. The recorded unstructured software execution data may be too complex, spanning over several days, etc. Applying existing discovery techniques results in spaghetti-like models with no clear structure and no valuable information for comprehension. Starting from the observation that a software system is composed of a set of logical components, Liu et al. propose to decompose the software behavior discovery problem into smaller independent ones by discovering a behavioral model per component in [1]. However, the effectiveness of the proposed approach is not fully evaluated and compared with existing approaches. In this paper, we evaluate the quality (in terms of understandability/complexity) of discovered component behavior models in a quantitative manner. Based on evaluation, we show that this approach can reduce the complexity of the discovered model and gives a better understanding.

With the development of cloud computing, the Mobile Edge Computing has emerged and attracted widespread attentions. In this paper, we focus on the load balancing in MEC with energy harvesting. We first introduce the load balancing in MEC as a problem of minimizing both the energy consumption and queue redundancy. Thereafter, we adapt such a optimization problem to the Lyapunov algorithm and solve this optimization problem. Finally, extensive simulation results validate that the obtained strategy improves the capabilities of MEC systems.

This paper proposes an id-eCK secure identity-based authenticated key exchange (ID-AKE) scheme, where the id-eCK security implies that a scheme resists against leakage of all combinations of master, static, and ephemeral secret keys except ones trivially break the security. Most existing id-eCK secure ID-AKE schemes require two symmetric pairing operations or a greater number of asymmetric pairing, which is faster than symmetric one, operations to establish a session key. However, our scheme is realized with a single asymmetric pairing operation for each party, and this is an advantage in efficiency. The proposed scheme is based on the ID-AKE scheme by McCullagh and Barreto, which is vulnerable to an active attack. To achieve id-eCK security, we apply the HMQV construction and the NAXOS technique to the McCullagh-Barreto scheme. The id-eCK security is proved under the external Diffie-Hellman for target group assumption and the q-gap-bilinear collision attack assumption.

Expectation propagation (EP) decoding is proposed for sparse superposition coding in orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) systems. When a randomized discrete Fourier transform (DFT) dictionary matrix is used, the EP decoding has the same complexity as approximate message-passing (AMP) decoding, which is a low-complexity and powerful decoding algorithm for the additive white Gaussian noise (AWGN) channel. Numerical simulations show that the EP decoding achieves comparable performance to AMP decoding for the AWGN channel. For OFDM systems, on the other hand, the EP decoding is much superior to the AMP decoding while the AMP decoding has an error-floor in high signal-to-noise ratio regime.

Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellite networks serve as a powerful complement to the terrestrial networks because of their ability to provide global coverage. In LEO satellite networks, the network is prone to congestion due to several reasons. First, the terrestrial gateways are usually located within a limited region leading to congestion of the nodes near the gateways. Second, routing algorithms that merely adopt shortest paths fail to distribute the traffic uniformly in the network. Finally, the traffic input may exceed the network capacity. Therefore, rate control and load-balancing routing are needed to alleviate network congestion. Moreover, different kinds of traffic have different Quality of Service (QoS) requirements which need to be treated appropriately. In this paper, we investigate joint rate control and load-balancing routing in LEO satellite networks to tackle the problem of network congestion while considering the QoS requirements of different traffic. The joint rate control and routing problem is formulated with the throughput and end-to-end delay requirements of the traffic taken into consideration. Two routing schemes are considered which differ in whether or not different traffic classes can be assigned different paths. For each routing scheme, the joint rate control and routing problem is formulated. A heuristic algorithm based on simulated annealing is proposed to solve the problems. Besides, a snapshot division method is proposed to increase the connectivity of the network and reduce the number of snapshots by merging the links between satellites and gateways. The simulation results show that compared with methods that perform routing and rate control separately, the proposed algorithm improves the overall throughput of the network and provides better QoS guarantees for different traffic classes.

Designing an optimum quantizer can be treated as the optimization problem of finding the quantization indices that minimize the quantization error. One solution to the optimization problem, DP quantization, is based on dynamic programming. Some applications, such as bit-depth scalable codec and tone mapping, require the construction of multiple quantizers with different quantization levels, for example, from 12bit/channel to 10bit/channel and 8bit/channel. Unfortunately, the above mentioned DP quantization optimizes the quantizer for just one quantization level. That is, it is unable to simultaneously optimize multiple quantizers. Therefore, when DP quantization is used to design multiple quantizers, there are many redundant computations in the optimization process. This paper proposes an extended DP quantization with a complexity reduction algorithm for the optimal design of multiple quantizers. Experiments show that the proposed algorithm reduces complexity by 20.8%, on average, compared to conventional DP quantization.

In this work, we introduce notions of quantum frequency arrangements consisting of quantum frequency squares, cubes, hypercubes and a notion of orthogonality between them. We also propose a notion of quantum mixed orthogonal array (QMOA). By using irredundant mixed orthogonal array proposed by Goyeneche et al. we can obtain k-uniform states of heterogeneous systems from quantum frequency arrangements and QMOAs. The nearest neighbor method is a simple and flexible scheme for the classification of data points in a vector space. It predicts a class label of an unseen data point using a majority rule for the labels of known data points inside a neighborhood of the unseen data point. Because it sometimes achieves good performance even for complicated problems, several derivatives of it have been studied. Among them, the discriminant adaptive nearest neighbor method is particularly worth revisiting to demonstrate its application. The main idea of this method is to adjust the neighbor metric of an unseen data point to the set of known data points before label prediction. It often improves the prediction, provided the neighbor metric is adjusted well. For statistical shape analysis, shape classification attracts attention because it is a vital topic in shape analysis. However, because a shape is generally expressed as a matrix, it is non-trivial to apply the discriminant adaptive nearest neighbor method to shape classification. Thus, in this study, we develop the discriminant adaptive nearest neighbor method to make it slightly more useful in shape classification. To achieve this development, a mixture model and optimization algorithm for shape clustering are incorporated into the method. Furthermore, we describe several helpful techniques for the initial guess of the model parameters in the optimization algorithm. Using several shape datasets, we demonstrated that our method is successful for shape classification.
