    A graph G is two-disjoint-cycle-cover r-pancyclic if for any integer l satisfying r≤l≤|V(G)|-r, there exist two vertex-disjoint cycles C1 and C2 in G such that the lengths of C1 and C2 are |V(G)|-l and l, respectively, where |V(G)| denotes the total number of vertices in G. In particular, the graph G is two-disjoint-cycle-cover vertex r-pancyclic if for any two distinct vertices u and v of G, there exist two vertex-disjoint cycles C1 and C2 in G such that (i) C1 contains u, (ii) C2 contains v, and (iii) the lengths of C1 and C2 are |V(G)|-l and l, respectively, for any integer l satisfying r≤l≤|V(G)|-r.     In this paper, we investigate the fault-tolerant Hamiltonian problems of crossed cubes with a faulty path. More precisely, let P denote any path in an n-dimensional crossed cube CQn for n ≥ 5, and let V(P) be the vertex set of P. We show that CQn-V(P) is Hamiltonian if |V(P)|≤n and is Hamiltonian connected if |V(P)| ≤ n-1. Compared with the previous results showing that the crossed cube is (n-2)-fault-tolerant Hamiltonian and (n-3)-fault-tolerant Hamiltonian connected for arbitrary faults, the contribution of this paper indicates that the crossed cube can tolerate more faulty vertices if these vertices happen to form some specific types of structures.

    Nonnegative matrix factorization (NMF) is an unsupervised technique to represent nonnegative data as linear combinations of nonnegative bases, which has shown impressive performance for source separation. However, its source separation performance degrades when one signal can also be described well with the bases for the interfering source signals. In this paper, we propose a discriminative NMF (DNMF) algorithm which exploits the reconstruction error for the interfering signals as well as the target signal based on target bases. The objective function for training the bases is constructed so as to yield high reconstruction error for the interfering source signals while guaranteeing low reconstruction error for the target source signals. Experiments show that the proposed method outperformed the standard NMF and another DNMF method in terms of both the perceptual evaluation of speech quality score and signal-to-distortion ratio in various noisy environments.

    We present an electrostatic tactile display for stimulus localization. The 240-Hz electrostatic force was generated by the beat phenomenon in a region where excited X electrodes cross excited Y electrodes, which presents localized tactile sensation out of the entire surface. A 10.4-in. visual-tactile integrated display was successfully demonstrated.

    Some unilateral lower-limb amputees, have through continued exertion, increase the foot reaction force of the sound leg. The asymmetric gait with a prosthetic leg may thus negatively affect the musculoskeletal health of the leg on the healthy side. Therefore, it is important for these amputees to learn how to adjust the balance of each foot load in training. The aim of this study is to develop a training support system visualizing floor-reaction forces using a color-depth sensor. The pose of the entire body of the amputee is measured by the depth sensor, and the floor reaction force is estimated based on Zero Moment Point (ZMP), which is calculated using the center of mass of the amputee. Evaluation experiments of the proposed method were performed and they confirmed the effectiveness of the estimation method and the training with the visualization of reaction force.

  • Comparisons on Arc Behavior and Contact Performance between Cu and Cu-Mo Alloys in a Bridge-Type Contact System

    Cu-Mo alloy carries forward not only high electrical conductivity and high thermal conductivity from Cu but also high hardness from Mo, which makes it a promising potential application in electrical contact fields. In this paper, arc characteristic and erosion characteristic of Cu-Mo contacts are studied with a bridge-type contact high speed break mechanism on DC270 V/200 A load condition. And in each experiment group, 2500 times break operations are carried out. During every break operation, a high-speed AD card is used to record voltage and current signal of the arc, a high-speed camera is applied to record arcing process, and the temperature of contacts and arc are acquired by thermocouple and spectrometer, respectively. The mass and contact resistance of contacts are measured before and after every group experiment. Besides, the photograph of contact surface is taken by SEM to help analyze the erosion characteristic. The comparison between Cu-Mo contacts and Cu contacts indicates that although Cu contacts have a better electrical conductivity and thermal conductivity, Cu-Mo contacts can decrease the temperature of arc to prevent thermal breakdown, and they are also harder to be ablated and have a longer life span.

    This paper gives an outline of key technologies necessary for science-based agriculture. In order to design future agriculture, present agriculture should be redesigned based on the context of smart agriculture that indicates the overall form of agriculture including a social system while the present precision agriculture shows a technical form of agriculture only. Wireless Sensor Network (WSN) and the various type of optical sensors are assumed to be a basic technology of smart agriculture which intends the harmony with the economic development and sustainable agro-ecosystem. In this paper, the current state and development for the optical sensing for environment and plant are introduced.

  • Hybrid Markov Location Prediction Algorithm Based on Dynamic Social Ties

    Much research which has shown the usage of social ties could improve the location predictive performance, but as the strength of social ties is varying constantly with time, using the movement data of user's close friends at different times could obtain a better predictive performance. A hybrid Markov location prediction algorithm based on dynamic social ties is presented. The time is divided by the absolute time (week) to mine the long-term changing trend of users' social ties, and then the movements of each week are projected to the workdays and weekends to find the changes of the social circle in different time slices. The segmented friends' movements are compared to the history of the user with our modified cross-sample entropy to discover the individuals who have the relatively high similarity with the user in different time intervals. Finally, the user's historical movement data and his friends' movements at different times which are assigned with the similarity weights are combined to build the hybrid Markov model. The experiments based on a real location-based social network dataset show the hybrid Markov location prediction algorithm could improve 15% predictive accuracy compared with the location prediction algorithms that consider the global strength of social ties.

    Vertical- and horizontal-polarization RCS of a dipole antenna was reduced using a switchable reflector. The switchable reflector can switch reflection level for the vertical-polarization and have absorption for the horizontal-polarization. The reflection level of the reflector for the vertical-polarization can be switched using pin diodes and the reflection for the horizontal-polarization can be reduced using resistor on the surface. The switchable reflector was designed to operate at 9 GHz and fabricated. The vertical-polarized reflection coefficient was switched -28 dB with OFF-state diodes and -0.7 dB with ON-state diodes, and horizontal-polarized one was less than -18 dB at 9 GHz. The reflector with ON-state diodes was applied to an antenna reflector of a dipole antenna and comparable radiation pattern to that with a metal reflector was obtained at 9 GHz. Moreover the reflector with OFF-state diodes was applied to the reflector of the dipole antenna and the RCS of the dipole antenna was reduced 18 dB for the vertical-polarization and 16 dB for the horizontal-polarization. Therefore the designed switchable reflector can contribute to antenna RCS reduction for dual-polarization at the operating frequency without degrading antenna performance.

    This paper shows that the induced peak voltage on the short monopole antenna by the EM field radiated from a small gap discharge when the gap width was experimentally changed from 10 to 360µm was not directly proportional to the discharge voltage between the gap. It was found that the 10mm short monopole antenna induced peak voltage had a peak value between 40 and 60µm gap width.

  • Design of Microwave Patch Hybrid Couplers with Arbitrary Power Ratio and Impedance Transformation

    A miniaturized patch hybrid coupler with arbitrary power ratio and impedance transformation is proposed and designed by loading a pair of asymmetric cross slots on a squared patch resonator. To obtain the arbitrary power ratio and impedance transformation, the rectangular size of stepped slot ends should be well designed to be asymmetry and thus to obtain the different inductive loadings along two current paths. Theoretically, the equivalent transmission line model is first developed to understand the physical relationship between the patch and traditional branch-line hybrids. The matching/isolation and power ratio conditions are then derived at center frequency. By following a detailed design guideline, a prototype of the hybrid with 1:2 power ratio and 1:1.3 impedance transformation is designed and fabricated at 4.2 GHz. The measured results show a good agreement with simulated results, where the measured -10 dB impedance bandwidth achieves 18% and the bandwidth of 90°±6° phase difference is about 35% in a frequency range from 3.5 GHz to 5 GHz.

    In this paper, for an odd prime p and i=0,1, we investigate the cross-correlation between two decimated sequences, s(2t+i) and s(dt), where s(t) is a p-ary m-sequence of period pn-1. Here we consider two cases of ${d}$, ${d= rac{(p^m +1)^2}{2} }$ with ${n=2m}$, ${p^m equiv 1 pmod{4}}$ and ${d= rac{(p^m +1)^2}{p^e + 1}}$ with n=2m and odd m/e. The value distribution of the cross-correlation function for each case is completely determined. Also, by using these decimated sequences, two new p-ary sequence families of period ${ rac{p^n -1}{2}}$ with good correlation property are constructed.

    This paper proposes an ultra-low power fully on-chip CMOS relaxation oscillator (ROSC) for a real-time clock application. The proposed ROSC employs a compensation circuit of a comparator's non-idealities caused by offset voltage and delay time. The ROSC can generate a stable, and 32-kHz oscillation clock frequency without increasing power dissipation by using a low reference voltage and employing a novel compensation architecture for comparators. Measurement results in a 0.18-$mu$m CMOS process demonstrated that the circuit can generate a stable clock frequency of 32.55,kHz with low power dissipation of 472,nW at 1.8-V power supply. Measured line regulation and temperature coefficient were 1.1%/V and 120,ppm/$^{circ}$C, respectively.

    A renal biopsy is a procedure to get a small piece of kidney for microscopic examination. With the development of tissue sectioning and medical imaging techniques, microscope renal biopsy image sequences are consequently obtained for computer-aided diagnosis. This paper proposes a new context-based segmentation algorithm for acquired image sequence, in which an improved genetic algorithm (GA) patching method is developed to segment different size target. To guarantee the correctness of first image segmentation and facilitate the use of context information, a boundary fusion operation and a simplified scale-invariant feature transform (SIFT)-based registration are presented respectively. The experimental results show the proposed segmentation algorithm is effective and accurate for renal biopsy image sequence.

    Gallium oxide is expected as a channel material for thin film transistors. In the conventional technologies, gallium oxide has been tried to be fabricated by atomic layer deposition (ALD) at high temperatures from 100--450$^{circ}$C, although the room-temperature (RT) growth has not been developed. In this work, we developed the RT ALD of gallium oxide by using a remote plasma technique. We studied trimethylgallium (TMG) adsorption and its oxidization on gallium oxide surfaces at RT by infrared absorption spectroscopy (IRAS). Based on the adsorption and oxidization characteristics, we designed the room temperature ALD of Ga$_{2}$O$_{3}$. The IRAS indicated that TMG adsorbs on the gallium oxide surface by consuming the adsorption sites of surface hydroxyl groups even at RT and the remote plasma-excited water and oxygen vapor is effective in oxidizing the TMG adsorbed surface and regeneration of the adsorption sites for TMG. We successfully prepared Ga$_{2}$O$_{3}$ films on Si substrates at RT with a growth per cycle of 0.055,nm/cycle.

    Ni nanodots (NDs) used as nano-scale top electrodes were formed on a 10-nm-thick Si-rich oxide (SiO$_{mathrm{x}}$)/Ni bottom electrode by exposing a 2-nm-thick Ni layer to remote H$_{2}$-plasma (H$_{2}$-RP) without external heating, and the resistance-switching behaviors of SiO$_{mathrm{x}}$ were investigated from current-voltage ( extit{I--V}) curves. Atomic force microscope (AFM) analyses confirmed the formation of electrically isolated Ni NDs as a result of surface migration and agglomeration of Ni atoms promoted by the surface recombination of H radicals. From local extit{I--V} measurements performed by contacting a single Ni ND as a top electrode with a Rh coated Si cantilever, a distinct uni-polar type resistance switching behavior was observed repeatedly despite an average contact area between the Ni ND and the SiO$_{mathrm{x}}$ as small as $sim$ 1.9 $ imes$ 10$^{-12}$cm$^{2}$. This local extit{I--V} measurement technique is quite a simple method to evaluate the size scalability of switching properties.

  • Nitrogen Adsorption of Si(100) Surface by Plasma Excited Ammonia

    Nitrogen adsorption on thermally cleaned Si(100) surfaces by pure and plasma excited NH$_{3}$ is investigated by extit{in situ} IR absorption spectroscopy and ex-situ X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy with various temperatures from RT (25$^{circ}$C) to 800$^{circ}$C and with a treatment time of 5,min. The nitrogen coverage after the treatment varies according to the treatment temperature for both pure and plasma excited NH$_{3}$. In case of the pure NH$_{3}$, the nitrogen coverage is saturated as low as 0.13--0.25 mono layer (ML) while the growth of the nitride film commenced at 550$^{circ}$C. For the plasma excited NH$_{3}$, the saturation coverage was measured at 0.54,ML at RT and it remained unincreased from RT to 550$^{circ}$C. This indicates that the plasma excited NH$_{3}$ enhances the nitrogen adsorption near at RT. It is found that main species of N is Si$_{2}=$ NH in case of the plasma excited NH$_{3}$ at RT while the pure NH$_{3}$ treatment gives rise to the Si--NH$_{2}$ passivation with Si--H at RT. We discuss the mechanism of the nitrogen adsorption on Si(100) surfaces with the plasma excited NH$_{3}$ in comparison with the study on the pure NH$_{3}$ treatment.

  • The KDM-CCA Security of the Kurosawa-Desmedt Scheme

    In this letter, we prove that the Kurosawa-Desmedt (KD) scheme [10], which belongs to the hybrid framework, is KDM-CCA secure w.r.t. an ensemble proposed by Qin et al. in [12] under the decisional Diffie-Hellman assumption. Since our proof does not rely on the random oracle model, we partially answer the question presented by Davies and Stam in [7], where they hope to achieve the KDM-CCA security for hybrid encryption scheme in the standard model (i.e. not random oracle model). Moreover, our result may also make sense in practice since KD-scheme is (almost) the most efficient CCA secure scheme.

    A four-pixel-array superconducting transition-edge sensor (TES) microcalorimeter with a mushroom-shaped absorber was fabricated for the energy dispersive spectroscopy performed on a transmission electron microscope. The TES consists of a bilayer of Au/Ti with either a 50-nm or 120-nm thickness. The absorber of 5.0,$mu$m thick is made from a Au layer and its stem is deposited in the center of the TES surface. A Ta$_{2}$O$_{5}$ insulating layer of 100-nm thickness is inserted between the overhang region of the absorber and the TES surface. A selected pixel of the TES microcalorimeter was operated for the detection of Np L X-rays emitted from an $^{241}$Am source. A response of the TES microcalorimeter to L X-rays was obtained by analyzing detection signal pulses with using the optimal filter method. An energy resolution was obtained to be 33,eV of the full width at half maximum value at 17.751,keV of Np L$_{eta 1}$ considering its natural width of 13.4,eV. Response to L X-rays emitted from a mixture source of $^{238}$Pu, $^{239}$Pu and $^{241}$Am was obtained by operating the selected pixel of the TES microcalorimeter. Major L X-ray peaks of progeny elements of $alpha$ decay of Pu and Am isotopes were clearly identified in the obtained energy spectrum. The experimental results demonstrated the separation of $^{241}$Am and plutonium isotopes by L X-ray spectroscopy.

    Since the birth of astrophysics, astronomers have been using free-space optics to analyze light falling on Earth. In the future however, thanks to the advances in photonics and nanoscience/nanotechnology, much of the manipulation of light might be carried out using not optics but confined waveguides, or circuits, on a chip. This new generation of instruments will be not only extremely compact, but also powerful in performance because the integration enables a greater degree of multiplexing. The benefit is especially profound for space- or air-borne observatories, where size, weight, and mechanical reliability are of top priority. Recently, several groups around the world are trying to integrate ultra-wideband (UWB), low-resolution spectrometers for millimeter-submillimeter waves onto microchips, using superconducting microelectronics. The scope of this Paper is to provide a general introduction and a review of the state-of-the-art of this rapidly advancing field.
