Some networks, such as wireless sensor networks, vehicle networks, etc., are often disconnected and thus fail to provide an end-to-end route for transmission. As a result, a new kind self-organized wireless network, i.e., Delay Tolerant Network (DTN) is proposed to transmit messages using a store-carry-forward method. To efficiently process aggregation queries, this paper proposes a subscription aggregation query processing method that combines query processing and transfer protocols. The basic idea is reducing the number of redundant copy transmissions, increasing the message delivery rate and reducing the transmission delay by matrix summation. Theoretical and experimental results show that the method can attain a good performance in the delay tolerant networks.
This paper introduces low-power and small area injection-locking clock and data recovery circuit (CDR) for the wireline and wireless proximity link. By using signal conversion from differential input to common-mode output, the newly proposed edge detector can eliminate the usually used delay line and XOR-based edge detector, and provided low power operation and a small circuit area. The CDR test chip fabricated in a 65-nm CMOS process consumes 30mW from a 1.2- V supply at 12.5Gbps. The fabricated CDR achieved a BER lower than 10-12 and the recovered clock had an rms jitter of 0.87ps. The CDR area is 0.165mm2.

High efficiency video coding (HEVC) is a video compression standard that outperforms the predecessor H.264/AVC by doubling the compression efficiency. To enhance the coding accuracy, HEVC adopts sample adaptive offset (SAO), which reduces the distortion of reconstructed pixels using classification based non-linear filtering. In the traditional coding tree unit (CTU) grain based VLSI encoder implementation, during the pixel classification stage, SAO cannot use the raw samples in the boundary of the current CTU because these pixels have not been processed by deblocking filter (DF). This paper proposes a hardware-oriented category determination algorithm based on estimating the deblocking strengths on CTU boundaries and selectively adopting the promising samples in these areas during SAO classification. Compared with HEVC test mode (HM11.0), experimental results indicate that the proposed method achieves an average 0.13%, 0.14%, and 0.12% BD-bitrate reduction (equivalent to 0.0055dB, 0.0058dB, and 0.0097dB increases in PSNR) in CTU sizes of 64 × 64, 32 × 32, and 16 × 16, respectively.

An on-chip monitoring circuit using a sub-sampling scheme, which consists of a 6-bit flash analog-to-digital converter (ADC) and a 51-phase phase-locked loop (PLL)-based frequency synthesizer, is proposed to analyze the signal integrity of a single-ended 8-Gb/s octal data rate (ODR) chip-to-chip interface with a source synchronous clocking scheme.
In recent years, society has experienced several changes in its ways and methods of consuming. Nowadays, the diversity and the customization of products and services have provoked that the consumer needs continuously change. Hence, the database systems support e-business processes are required to be timeliness and adaptable to the changing preferences. Autonomous Decentralized Database System (ADDS), has been proposed in order to satisfy the enhanced requirements of current on-line e-business applications. Autonomy and decentralization of subsystems help to achieve short response times in highly competitive situations and an autonomous Coordination Mobile Agent (CMA) has been proposed to achieve flexibility in a highly dynamic environment. However, a problem in ADDS is as the number of sites increases, the distribution and harmonization of product information among the sites are turning difficult. Therefore, many users cannot be satisfied quickly. As a result, system timeliness is inadequate. To solve this problem, a self configuration technology is proposed. This technology can configure the system to the evolving situation dynamically for achieving high response. A simulation shows the effectiveness of the proposed technology in a large-scale system. Finally, an implementation of this technology is presented.

The infrastructure includes not just structure but management, technology, operation and maintenance: we call this “MTOMI Model.” The MTOMI Model is the key concept of JR East's businesses and can generate JR East's ecosystem.
Distributed antenna systems (DASs) combined with multi-user multiple-input multiple-output (MU-MIMO) transmission techniques have recently attracted significant attention. To establish MU-MIMO DASs that have wide service areas, the use of a dynamic clustering scheme (CS) is necessary to reduce computation in precoding. In the present study, we propose a simple method for dynamic clustering to establish a single cell large-scale MU-MIMO DAS and investigate its performance. We also compare the characteristics of the proposal to those of other schemes such as exhaustive search, traditional location-based adaptive CS, and improved norm-based CS in terms of sum rate improvement. Additionally, to make our results more universal, we further introduce spatial correlation to the considered system. Computer simulation results indicate that the proposed CS for the considered system provides better performance than the existing schemes and can achieve a sum rate close to that of exhaustive search but at a lower computational cost.

A novel activation method for a B dopant implanted in a Si substrate using a soft X-ray undulator was examined. As the photon energy of the irradiated soft X-ray approached the energy of the core level of Si 2p, the activation ratio increased. The effect of soft X-ray irradiation on B activation was remarkable at temperatures lower than 400°C. The activation energy of B activation by soft X-ray irradiation (0.06 eV) was lower than that of B activation by furnace annealing (0.18 eV). The activation of the B dopant by soft X-ray irradiation occurs at low temperature, although the activation ratio shows small values of 6.2×10-3 at 110°C. The activation by soft X-ray is caused not only by thermal effects, but also electron excitation and atomic movement.

Blood pressure measurement by auscultatory method is a compulsory skill that is required by all healthcare practitioners. During the measurement, they must concentrate on recognizing the Korotkoff sounds, looking at the sphygmomanometer scale, and constantly deflating the cuff pressure simultaneously. This complex operation is difficult for the new learners and they need a lot of practice with the supervisor in order to guide them on their measurements. However, the supervisor is not always available and consequently, they always face the problem of lack of enough training. In order to help them mastering the skill of measuring blood pressure by auscultatory method more efficiently and effectively, we propose using a sensor device to capture the signals of Korotkoff sounds and cuff pressure during the measurement, and display the signal changes on a visualization tool through wireless connection. At the end of the measurement, the learners can verify their skill on deflation speed and recognition of Korotkoff sounds using the graphical view, and compare their measurements with the machine instantly. By using this device, the new learners do not need to wait for their supervisor for training but can practice with their colleagues more frequently. As a result, they will be able to acquire the skill in a shorter time and be more confident with their measurements.
To support the efficient gathering of diverse information about a news event, we focus on descriptions of named entities (persons, organizations, locations) in news articles. We extend the stakeholder mining proposed by Ogawa et al. and extract descriptions of named entities in articles. We propose three measures (difference in opinion, difference in details, and difference in factor coverage) to rank news articles on the basis of analyzing differences in descriptions of named entities. On the basis of these three measurements, we develop a news app on mobile devices to help users to acquire diverse reports for improving their understanding of the news. For the current article a user is reading, the proposed news app will rank and provide its related articles from different perspectives by the three ranking measurements. One of the notable features of our system is to consider the access history to provide the related news articles. In other words, we propose a context-aware re-ranking method for enhancing the diversity of news reports presented to users. We evaluate our three measurements and the re-ranking method with a crowdsourcing experiment and a user study, respectively.

This paper presents a varactor-based all-digital phase-locked loop (ADPLL) with a multi-phase digitally controlled oscillator (DCO) for near-threshold voltage operation. In addition, a new all-digital reference spur suppression (RSS) circuit with multiple phases random-sampling techniques to effectively spread the reference clock frequency is proposed to randomize the synchronized DCO register behavior and reduce the reference spur. Because the equivalent reference clock frequency is reserved, the loop behavior is maintained. The area of the proposed spur suppression circuit is only 4.9% of the ADPLL (0.038 mm2). To work reliably at the near-threshold region, a multi-phase DCO with NMOS varactors is presented to acquire precise frequency resolution and high linearity. In the near-threshold region (VDD =0.52 V), the ADPLL only dissipates 269.9 μW at 100 MHz output frequency. It has a reference spur of -52.2 dBc at 100 MHz output clock frequency when the spur suppression circuit is deactivated. When the spur suppression circuit is activated, the ADPLL shows a reference spur of -57.3 dBc with the period jitter of 0.217% UI.
Cyber-attacks and cybersecurity used to be the issues for those who use Internet and computers. The issues, however, are expanding to anyone who does not even use them directly. The society is gradually and heavily depending on networks and computers. They are not closed within a cyberspace anymore and having interaction with our real world with sensors and actuators. Such systems are known as CPS (Cyber Physical Systems), IoT/E (Internet of Things/Everything), Industry 4.0, Industrial Internet, M2M, etc. No matter what they are called, exploitation of any of these systems may cause a serious influence to our real life and appropriate countermeasures must be taken to mitigate the risks. In this paper, cybersecurity in ICS (Industrial Control Systems) is reviewed as a leading example of cyber physical security for critical infrastructures. Then as a future aspect of it, IoT security for consumers is explained.

The rapid development of a global navigation satellite system (GNSS) has raised the demand for spacecraft navigation, particularly for lunar spacecraft (LS). First, instead of the traditional approach of combining the united X-band system (UXB) with very-long-baseline interferometry (VLBI) by a terrestrial-based observing station in Chinese deep-space exploration, the spacecraft navigation based on inter-satellite link (ISL) is proposed because the spatial coverage of the GNSS downstream signals is too narrow to be used for LS navigation. Second, the feasibility of LS navigation by using ISL wide beam signals has been analyzed with the following receiving parameters: the geometrical dilution of precision (GDOP) and the carrier-to-noise ratio (C/N0) for satellites autonomously navigation of ISL and LS respectively; the weighting distance root-mean-square (wdrms) for the combination of both navigation modes. Third, to be different from all existing spacecraft ISL and GNSS navigation methods, an ISL annular beam transmitting antenna has been simulated to minimize the wdrms (1.138m) to obtain the optimal beam coverage: 16°-47° on elevation angle. Theoretical calculations and simulations have demonstrated that both ISL autonomous navigation and LS navigation can be satisfied at the same time. Furthermore, an onboard annular wide beam ISL antenna with optimized parameters has been designed to provide a larger channel capacity with a simpler structure than that of the existing GPS ISL spot beam antenna, a better anti-jamming performance than that of the former GPS ISL UHF-band wide band antenna, and a wider effectively operating area than the traditional terrestrial-based measurement. Lastly, the possibility and availability of applying an ISL receiver with an annular wide beam antenna on the Chinese Chang'E-5T (CE-5T) reentry experiment for autonomous navigation are analyzed and verified by simulating and comparing the ISL receiver with the practiced GNSS receiver.

These days, the Web contains a huge volume of (semi-)structured data, called Linked Data (LD). However, LD suffer in data quality, and this poor data quality brings the need to identify erroneous data. Because manual erroneous data checking is impractical, automatic erroneous data detection is necessary. According to the data publishing guidelines of LD, data should use (already defined) ontology which populates type-annotated LD. Usually, the data type annotation helps in understanding the data. However, in our observation, the data type annotation could be used to identify erroneous data. Therefore, to automatically identify possible erroneous data over the type-annotated LD, we propose a framework that uses a novel nearest-neighbor based error detection technique. We conduct experiments of our framework on DBpedia, a type-annotated LD dataset, and found that our framework shows better performance of error detection in comparison with state-of-the-art framework.

Secret sharing is a method of information protection for security. The information is divided into n shares and reconstructed from any k shares, but no knowledge of the information is revealed from k-1 shares. Physical layer security is a method of achieving favorable reception conditions at the destination terminal in wireless communications. In this study, we propose a security enhancement technique for wireless packet communications. The technique uses secret sharing and physical layer security to exchange a secret encryption key. The encryption key for packet information is set as the secret information in secret sharing, and the secret information is divided into n shares. Each share is located in the packet header. The base station transmits the packets to the destination terminal by using physical layer security based on precoded multi-antenna transmission. With this transmission scheme, the destination terminal can receive more than k shares without error and perfectly recover the secret information. In addition, an eavesdropper terminal can receive less than k-1 shares without error and recover no secret information. In this paper, we propose a protection technique using secret sharing based on systematic Reed-Solomon codes. The technique establishes an advantageous condition for the destination terminal to recover the secret information. The evaluation results by numerical analysis and computer simulation show the validity of the proposed technique.

This paper presents a parallelization method utilizing dead time to implement higher precision feedback control systems in multicore processors. The feedback control system is known to be difficult to parallelize, and it is difficult to deal with the dead time in control systems. In our method, the dead time is explicitly represented as delay elements. Then, these delay elements are distributed to the overall systems with equivalent transformation so that the system can be simulated or executed in parallel pipeline operation. In addition, we introduce a method of delay-element addition for parallelization. For a spring-mass-damper model with a dead time, parallel execution of the model using our technique achieves 3.4 times performance acceleration compared with its sequential execution on an ideal four-core simulation and 1.8 times on a cycle-accurate simulator of a four-core embedded processor as a threaded application on a real-time operating system.

In this letter, a novel perceptually motivated single channel speech enhancement approach based on Deep Neural Network (DNN) is presented. Taking into account the good masking properties of the human auditory system, a new DNN architecture is proposed to reduce the perceptual effect of the residual noise. This new DNN architecture is directly trained to learn a gain function which is used to estimate the power spectrum of clean speech and shape the spectrum of the residual noise at the same time. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed perceptually motivated speech enhancement approach could achieve better objective speech quality when tested with TIMIT sentences corrupted by various types of noise, no matter whether the noise conditions are included in the training set or not.

In this paper, we investigate the effect of outdated channel state information (CSI) on decode-and-forward opportunistic mobile relaying networks with direct link (DL) between source node and destination node. Relay selection schemes with different levels of CSI are considered: 1) only outdated CSI is available during the relay selection procedure; 2) not only outdated CSI but also second-order statistics information are available in relay selection process. Three relay selection schemes are proposed based on the two levels of outdated CSI. Closed-form expressions of the outage probability are derived for the proposed relay selection schemes. Meanwhile, the asymptotic behavior and the achievable diversity of three relay selection schemes are analyzed. Finally, simulation results are presented to verify our analytical results.

Time performance optimization and resource conflict resolution are two important challenges in multiple project management contexts. Compared with traditional project management, multi-project management usually suffers limited and insufficient resources, and a tight and urgent deadline to finish all concurrent projects. In this case, time performance optimization of the global project management is badly needed. To our best knowledge, existing work seldom pays attention to the formal modeling and analyzing of multi-project management in an effort to eliminate resource conflicts and optimizing the project execution time. This work proposes such a method based on PRT-Net, which is a Petri net-based formulism tailored for a kind of project constrained by resource and time. The detailed modeling approaches based on PRT-Net are first presented. Then, resource conflict detection method with corresponding algorithm is proposed. Next, the priority criteria including a key-activity priority strategy and a waiting-short priority strategy are presented to resolve resource conflicts. Finally, we show how to construct a conflict-free PRT-Net by designing resource conflict resolution controllers. By experiments, we prove that our proposed priority strategy can ensure the execution time of global multiple projects much shorter than those without using any strategies.

In distributed storage systems, codes with lower repair locality are much more desirable due to their superiority in reducing the disk I/O complexity of each repair process. Motivated partially by both codes with information (r,δ1)c locality and codes with cooperative (r,l) locality, we propose the concept of codes with information (r,l,δ) locality in this paper. For a linear code C with information (r,l,δ) locality, values at arbitrary l information coordinates of an information set I can be recovered by connecting any of δ existing pairwise disjoint local repair sets with size no more than r, where a local repair set of l coordinates is defined as the set of some other coordinates by which one can recover the values at these l coordinates. We derive a lower bound on the codeword length n for [n,k,d] linear codes with information (r,l,δ) locality. Furthermore, we indicate its tightness for some special cases. Particularly, some existing results can be deduced from our bound by restriction on parameters.
