The rapid advancement of cloud-edge-end collaboration offers a feasible solution to realize low-delay and low-energy-consumption data processing for internet of things (IoT)-based smart distribution grid. The major concern of cloud-edge-end collaboration lies on resource management. However, the joint optimization of heterogeneous resources involves multiple timescales, and the optimization decisions of different timescales are intertwined. In addition, burst electromagnetic interference will affect the channel environment of the distribution grid, leading to inaccuracies in optimization decisions, which can result in negative influences such as slow convergence and strong fluctuations. Hence, we propose a cloud-edge-end collaborative multi-timescale multi-service resource management algorithm. Large-timescale device scheduling is optimized by sliding window pricing matching, which enables accurate matching estimation and effective conflict elimination. Small-timescale compression level selection and power control are jointly optimized by disturbance-robust upper confidence bound (UCB), which perceives the presence of electromagnetic interference and adjusts exploration tendency for convergence improvement. Simulation outcomes illustrate the excellent performance of the proposed algorithm.

We achieved 10-Gbit/s data transmission using a cutting-edge 120-GHz-band high-speed contactless communication technology, which allows seamless connection to a local area network (LAN) by simply placing devices on a desk. We propose a glass substrate-integrated rectangular waveguide that can control the permeability of the top surface to 120-GHz signals by contacting a dielectric substrate with the substrate. The top surface of the rectangular waveguide was replaced with a glass substrate on which split-ring resonators (SRRs) were integrated. The transmission loss of the waveguide with a glass substrate was 2.5 dB at 125 GHz. When a dielectric sheet with a line pattern formed on the contact surface was in contact with a glass substrate, the transmission loss from the waveguide to the dielectric sheet was 19.2 dB at 125 GHz. We achieved 10-Gbit/s data transmission by contacting a dielectric sheet to the SRR-integrated glass substrate.

In this paper, we consider an orthogonal frequency division multiple access (OFDMA)-based multiuser full-duplex wireless powered communication network (FD WPCN) system with beamforming (BF) at an energy transmitter (ET). The ET performs BF to efficiently transmit energy to multiple users while suppressing interference to an information receiver (IR). Multiple users operating in full-duplex mode harvest energy from the signals sent by the ET while simultaneously transmitting information to the IR using the harvested energy. We analytically demonstrate that the FD WPCN is superior to its half-duplex (HD) WPCN counterpart in the high-SNR regime. We propose a transmitter design method that maximizes the sum rate by determining the BF at the ET, power allocation at both the ET and users, and sub-band allocation. Simulation results show the effectiveness of the proposed method.

This paper proposes a novel differential active self-interference canceller (DASIC) algorithm for asynchronous in-band full-duplex (IBFD) Gaussian filtered frequency shift keying (GFSK), which is designed for wireless Internet of Things (IoT). In IBFD communications, where two terminals simultaneously transmit and receive signals in the same frequency band, there is an extremely strong self-interference (SI). The SI can be mitigated by an active SI canceller (ASIC), which subtracts an interference replica based on channel state information (CSI) from the received signal. The challenging problem is the realization of asynchronous IBFD for wireless IoT in indoor environments. In the asynchronous mode, pilot contamination is induced by the non-orthogonality between asynchronous pilot sequences. In addition, the transceiver suffers from analog front-end (AFE) impairments, such as phase noise. Due to these impairments, the SI cannot be canceled entirely at the receiver, resulting in residual interference. To address the above issue, the DASIC incorporates the principle of the differential codec, which enables to suppress SI without the CSI estimation of SI owing to the differential structure. Also, on the premise of using an error correction technique, iterative detection and decoding (IDD) is applied to improve the detection capability while exchanging the extrinsic log-likelihood ratio (LLR) between the maximum a-posteriori probability (MAP) detector and the channel decoder. Finally, the validity of using the DASIC algorithm is evaluated by computer simulations in terms of the packet error rate (PER). The results clearly demonstrate the possibility of realizing asynchronous IBFD.

In recent years, high-resolution 77 GHz band automotive radar, which is indispensable for autonomous driving, has been extensively investigated. In the future, as vehicle-mounted CS (chirp sequence) radars become more and more popular, intensive inter-radar wideband interference will become a serious problem, which results in undesired miss detection of targets. To address this problem, learning-based wideband interference mitigation method has been proposed, and its feasibility has been validated by simulations. In this paper, firstly we evaluated the trade-off between interference mitigation performance and model training time of the learning-based interference mitigation method in a simulation environment. Secondly, we conducted extensive inter-radar interference experiments by using multiple 77 GHz MIMO (Multiple-Input and Multiple-output) CS radars and collected real-world interference data. Finally, we compared the performance of learning-based interference mitigation method with existing algorithm-based methods by real experimental data in terms of SINR (signal to interference plus noise ratio) and MAPE (mean absolute percentage error).

In future deep space communication missions, VLBI (Very Long Baseline Interferometry) based on antenna array technology remains a critical detection method, which urgently requires the improvement of synthesis performance for antenna array signals. Considering this, focusing on optimizing the traditional antenna grouping method applied in the phase estimation algorithm, this letter proposes a “L/2 to L/2” antenna grouping method based on the maximum correlation signal-to-noise ratio (SNR). Following this idea, a phase difference estimation algorithm named “Couple” is presented. Theoretical analysis and simulation verification illustrate that: when ρ < -10dB, the proposed “Couple” has the highest performance; increasing the number of antennas can significantly improve its synthetic loss performance and robustness. The research of this letter indicates a promising potential in supporting the rising deep space exploration and communication missions.

Convolutional neural network (CNN) is widely used in acoustic scene classification (ASC) tasks. In most cases, local convolution is utilized to gather time-frequency information between spectrum nodes. It is challenging to adequately express the non-local link between frequency domains in a finite convolution region. In this paper, we propose a dual-path convolutional neural network based on band interaction block (DCNN-bi) for ASC, with mel-spectrogram as the model’s input. We build two parallel CNN paths to learn the high-frequency and low-frequency components of the input feature. Additionally, we have created three band interaction blocks (bi-blocks) to explore the pertinent nodes between various frequency bands, which are connected between two paths. Combining the time-frequency information from two paths, the bi-blocks with three distinct designs acquire non-local information and send it back to the respective paths. The experimental results indicate that the utilization of the bi-block has the potential to improve the initial performance of the CNN substantially. Specifically, when applied to the DCASE 2018 and DCASE 2020 datasets, the CNN exhibited performance improvements of 1.79% and 3.06%, respectively.

In this paper, we consider distributed decision-making over directed time-varying multi-agent systems. We consider an adversarial bandit problem in which a group of agents chooses an option from among multiple arms to maximize the total reward. In the proposed method, each agent cooperatively searches for the optimal arm with the highest reward by a consensus-based distributed Exp3 policy. To this end, each agent exchanges the estimation of the reward of each arm and the weight for exploitation with the nearby agents on the network. To unify the explored information of arms, each agent mixes the estimation and the weight of the nearby agents with their own values by a consensus dynamics. Then, each agent updates the probability distribution of arms by combining the Hedge algorithm and the uniform search. We show that the sublinearity of a pseudo-regret can be achieved by appropriately setting the parameters of the distributed Exp3 policy.
A 150 GHz fundamental oscillator employing an inter-stage matching network based on a transmission line is presented in this letter. The proposed oscillator consists of a two-stage common-emitter amplifier loop, whose inter-stage connections are optimized to meet the oscillation condition. The oscillator is designed in a 130-nm SiGe BiCMOS process that offers fT and fMAX of 350 GHz and 450 GHz. According to simulation results, an output power of 3.17 dBm is achieved at 147.6 GHz with phase noise of -115 dBc/Hz at 10 MHz offset and figure-of-merit (FoM) of -180 dBc/Hz.
For 6G mobile communications, it is important to realize a 300 GHz band bandpass filter that fits the occupied bandwidth of wireless communication system to prevent inter-system interference. This paper presents the design of a 300-GHz-band dual-band bandstop filter composed of two types of different sized split ring resonator (SRR) unit cells. The SRR unit cells are formed by a 5-μm-thick gold pattern on a 200-μm-thick quartz substrate. When two different-sized SRR unit cells are placed alternately on the same quartz substrate and the SRR unit cell size is over 260 μm, the stopbands of the dual-band bandstop filter are almost the same as those of the bandstop filter, which is composed of a single SRR unit cell. The insertion loss of the dual-band bandstop filter at 297.4 GHz is 1.8 dB and the 3-dB passband becomes 16.0 GHz (290.4-306.4 GHz). The attenuation in the two stopbands is greater than 20 dB. Six types of dual-band bandstop filters with different arrangement and different distance between SRR unit cells are prototyped, and the effect of the distance and arrangement between different sized SRR unit cells on the transmission characteristics of dual-band bandstop filters were clarified.

We study the device length and/or band characteristics examined by two coupling analysis methods for our proposed fiber-type polarization splitter (FPS) composed of single mode fiber and polarization maintaining fiber. The first method is based on the power transition characteristics of the coupled-mode theory (CMT), and the second, a more accurate analysis method, is based on improved fundamental mode excitation (IFME). The CMT and IFME were evaluated and investigated with respect to the device length and bandwidth characteristics of the FPS. In addition, the influence of the excitation point shift of the fundamental mode, which has not been almost researched so far, is also analysed by using IFME.

In software defined radio systems, a channelizer plays an important role in extracting the desired signals from a wideband signal. Compared to the conventional methods, the proposed scheme provides a solution to design a digital channelizer extracting the multiple subband signals at different center frequencies with low complexity. To do this, this paper formulates the problem as an optimization problem, which minimizes the required multiplications number subject to the constraints of the ripple in the passbands and the stopbands for single channel and combined multiple channels. In addition, a solution to solve the optimization problem is also presented and the corresponding structure is demonstrated. Simulation results show that the proposed scheme requires smaller number of the multiplications than other conventional methods. Moreover, unlike other methods, this structure can process signals with different bandwidths at different center frequencies simultaneously only by changing the status of the corresponding multiplexers without hardware reimplementation.

The fingerprint verification system is widely used in mobile devices because of fingerprint's distinctive features and ease of capture. Typically, mobile devices utilize small sensors, which have limited area, to capture fingerprint. Meanwhile, conventional fingerprint feature extraction methods need detailed fingerprint information, which is unsuitable for those small sensors. This paper proposes a novel fingerprint verification method for small area sensors based on deep learning. A systematic method combines deep convolutional neural network (DCNN) in a Siamese network for feature extraction and XGBoost for fingerprint similarity training. In addition, a padding technique also introduced to avoid wraparound error problem. Experimental results show that the method achieves an improved accuracy of 66.6% and 22.6% in the FingerPassDB7 and FVC2006DB1B dataset, respectively, compared to the existing methods.
The novel optical path routing architecture named flexible waveband routing networks is reviewed in this paper. The nodes adopt a two-stage path routing scheme where wavelength selective switches (WSSs) bundle optical paths and form a small number of path groups and then optical switches without wavelength selectivity route these groups to desired outputs. Substantial hardware scale reduction can be achieved as the scheme enables us to use small scale WSSs, and even more, share a WSS by multiple input cores/fibers through the use of spatially-joint-switching. Furthermore, path groups distributed over multiple bands can be switched by these optical switches and thus the adaptation to multi-band transmission is straightforward. Network-wide numerical simulations and transmission experiments that assume multi-band transmission demonstrate the validity of flexible waveband routing.

We have developed an all-optical fiber link antenna measurement system for a millimeter wave 5th generation mobile communication frequency band around 28 GHz. Our developed system consists of an optical fiber link an electrical signal transmission system, an antenna-coupled-electrode electric-field (EO) sensor system for 28GHz-band as an electrical signal receiving system, and a 6-axis vertically articulated robot with an arm length of 1m. Our developed optical fiber link electrical signal transmission system can transmit the electrical signal of more than 40GHz with more than -30dBm output level. Our developed EO sensor can receive the electrical signal from 27GHz to 30GHz. In addition, we have estimated a far field antenna factor of the EO sensor system for the 28GHz-band using an amplitude center modified antenna factor estimation equation. The estimated far field antenna factor of the sensor system is 83.2dB/m at 28GHz.

This letter presents a dual-band load-modulated sequential amplifier (LMSA). The proposed amplifier changed the attenuator terminated at the isolation port of the four-port combiner of the traditional sequential power amplifier (SPA) architecture into a reactance modulation network (RMN) for load modulation. The impedance can be maintained pure resistance by designing RMN, thus realizing high efficiency and a good portion of the output power in the multiple bands. Compared to the dual-band Doherty power amplifier with a complex dual-band load modulation network (LMN), the proposed LMSA has advantages as maintaining high output power back-off (OBO) efficiency, wide bandwidth and simple construction. A 10-watt dual-band LMSA is simulated and measured in 1.7-1.9GHz and 2.4-2.6GHz with saturated efficiencies 61.2-69.9% and 54.4-70.8%, respectively. The corresponding 9dB OBO efficiency is 46.5-57.1% and 46.4-54.4%, respectively.

Widely adopted by machine learning and graph processing applications nowadays, sparse matrix-Vector multiplication (SpMV) is a very popular algorithm in linear algebra. This is especially the case for fully-connected MLP layers, which dominate many SpMV computations and play a substantial role in diverse services. As a consequence, a large fraction of data center cycles is spent on SpMV kernels. Meanwhile, despite having efficient storage options against sparsity (such as CSR or CSC), SpMV kernels still suffer from the problem of limited memory bandwidth during data transferring because of the memory hierarchy of modern computing systems. In more detail, we find that both integer and floating-point data used in SpMV kernels are handled plainly without any necessary pre-processing. Therefore, we believe bandwidth conservation techniques, such as data compression, may dramatically help SpMV kernels when data is transferred between the main memory and the Last Level Cache (LLC). Furthermore, we also observe that convergence conditions in some typical scientific computation benchmarks (based on SpMV kernels) will not be degraded when adopting lower precision floating-point data. Based on these findings, in this work, we propose a simple yet effective data compression scheme that can be extended to general purpose computing architectures or HPC systems preferably. When it is adopted, a best-case speedup of 1.92x is made. Besides, evaluations with both the CG kernel and the PageRank algorithm indicate that our proposal introduces negligible overhead on both the convergence speed and the accuracy of final results.

This paper proposes a dual-polarized filtering antenna with extracted-pole unit (EPU) using LTCC substrate. The EPU realizes the high skirt characteristic of the bandpass filter with transmission zeros (TZs) located near the passband without cross coupling. The filtering antenna with EPU is designed and fabricated in 28GHz band for 5G Band-n257 (26.5-29.5GHz). The measured S11 is less than -10.6dB in Band-n257, and the isolation between two ports for dual polarization is greater than 20.0dB. The measured peak antenna gain is 4.0dBi at 28.8GHz and the gain is larger than 2.5dBi in Band-n257. The frequency characteristics of the measured antenna gain shows the high skirt characteristic out of band, which are in good agreement with electromagnetic (EM)-simulated results.

In this paper, we applied the circuit synthesis theory of filters to the design of transmission-type metasurface cells and arbitrarily designed the amplitude and phase of the transmission and reflection by adjusting the resonant frequency and coupling coefficient. In addition, we successfully designed the phase of the unit cell by using the frequency conversion of filter theory. Moreover, we designed a refractive transmission-type metasurface plate with a novel cell structure that reacts to both polarizations. The prototype operated at the desired refraction angle, confirming the design theory.
