Space is becoming increasingly congested and contested, which calls for effective means to conduct effective monitoring of high-value space assets, especially in Space Situational Awareness (SSA) missions, while there are imperfections in existing methods and corresponding algorithms. To overcome such a problem, this letter proposes an algorithm for accurate Connected Element Interferometry (CEI) in SSA based on more interpolation information and iterations. Simulation results show that: (i) after iterations, the estimated asymptotic variance of the proposed method can basically achieve uniform convergence, and the ratio of it to ACRB is 1.00235 in δ0 ∈ [-0.5, 0.5], which is closer to 1 than the current best AM algorithms; (ii) In the interval of SNR ∈ [-14dB, 0dB], the estimation error of the proposed algorithm decreases significantly, which is basically comparable to CRLB (maintains at 1.236 times). The research of this letter could play a significant role in effective monitoring and high-precision tracking and measurement with significant space targets during futuristic SSA missions.

Convolutional neural network (CNN) is widely used in acoustic scene classification (ASC) tasks. In most cases, local convolution is utilized to gather time-frequency information between spectrum nodes. It is challenging to adequately express the non-local link between frequency domains in a finite convolution region. In this paper, we propose a dual-path convolutional neural network based on band interaction block (DCNN-bi) for ASC, with mel-spectrogram as the model’s input. We build two parallel CNN paths to learn the high-frequency and low-frequency components of the input feature. Additionally, we have created three band interaction blocks (bi-blocks) to explore the pertinent nodes between various frequency bands, which are connected between two paths. Combining the time-frequency information from two paths, the bi-blocks with three distinct designs acquire non-local information and send it back to the respective paths. The experimental results indicate that the utilization of the bi-block has the potential to improve the initial performance of the CNN substantially. Specifically, when applied to the DCASE 2018 and DCASE 2020 datasets, the CNN exhibited performance improvements of 1.79% and 3.06%, respectively.

To achieve precise measurement without landing, the high-mobility vehicle-mounted theodolite needs to be leveled quickly with high precision and ensure sufficient support stability before work. After the measurement, it is also necessary to ensure that the high-mobility vehicle-mounted theodolite can be quickly withdrawn. Therefore, this paper proposes a hierarchical automatic leveling strategy and establishes a two-stage electromechanical automatic leveling mechanism model. Using coarse leveling of the first-stage automatic leveling mechanism and fine leveling of the second-stage automatic leveling mechanism, the model realizes high-precision and fast leveling of the vehicle-mounted theodolites. Then, the leveling control method based on repeated positioning is proposed for the first-stage automatic leveling mechanism. To realize the rapid withdrawal for high-mobility vehicle-mounted theodolites, the method ensures the coincidence of spatial movement paths when the structural parts are unfolded and withdrawn. Next, the leg static balance equation is constructed in the leveling state, and the support force detection method is discussed in realizing the stable support for vehicle-mounted theodolites. Furthermore, a mathematical model for “false leg” detection is established furtherly, and a “false leg” detection scheme based on the support force detection method is analyzed to significantly improve the support stability of vehicle-mounted theodolites. Finally, an experimental platform is constructed to perform the performance test for automatic leveling mechanisms. The experimental results show that the leveling accuracy of established two-stage electromechanical automatic leveling mechanism can reach 3.6″, and the leveling time is no more than 2 mins. The maximum support force error of the support force detection method is less than 15%, and the average support force error is less than 10%. In contrast, the maximum support force error of the drive motor torque detection method reaches 80.12%, and its leg support stability is much less than the support force detection method. The model and analysis method proposed in this paper can also be used for vehicle-mounted radar, vehicle-mounted laser measurement devices, vehicle-mounted artillery launchers and other types of vehicle-mounted equipment with high-precision and high-mobility working requirements.

Artificial intelligence and the introduction of Internet of Things technologies have benefited from technological advances and new automated computer system technologies. Eventually, it is now possible to integrate them into a single offline industrial system. This is accomplished through machine-to-machine communication, which eliminates the human factor. The purpose of this article is to examine security systems for machine-to-machine communication systems that rely on identification and authentication algorithms for real-time monitoring. The article investigates security methods for quickly resolving data processing issues by using the Security operations Center’s main machine to identify and authenticate devices from 19 different machines. The results indicate that when machines are running offline and performing various tasks, they can be exposed to data leaks and malware attacks by both the individual machine and the system as a whole. The study looks at the operation of 19 computers, 7 of which were subjected to data leakage and malware attacks. AnyLogic software is used to create visual representations of the results using wireless networks and algorithms based on previously processed methods. The W76S is used as a protective element within intelligent sensors due to its built-in memory protection. For 4 machines, the data leakage time with malware attacks was 70 s. For 10 machines, the duration was 150 s with 3 attacks. Machine 15 had the longest attack duration, lasting 190 s and involving 6 malware attacks, while machine 19 had the shortest attack duration, lasting 200 s and involving 7 malware attacks. The highest numbers indicated that attempting to hack a system increased the risk of damaging a device, potentially resulting in the entire system with connected devices failing. Thus, illegal attacks by attackers using malware may be identified over time, and data processing effects can be prevented by intelligent control. The results reveal that applying identification and authentication methods using a protocol increases cyber-physical system security while also allowing real-time monitoring of offline system security.

The auto-correlation property of Huffman sequence makes it a good candidate for its application in radar and communication systems. However, high peak-to-average power ratio (PAPR) of Huffman sequence severely limits its application value. In this paper, we propose a novel algorithm to construct Huffman sequences with low PAPR. We have used the roots of the polynomials corresponding to Huffman sequences of length M + 1 to construct Huffman sequences of length 2M + 1, with low PAPR.

Spatial modulation (SM) is a type of multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) technology that provides several benefits over traditional MIMO systems. SM-MIMO is characterized by its unique transmission principle, which results in lower costs, enhanced spectrum utilization, and reduced inter-channel interference. To optimize channel estimation performance over frequency-selective channels in the spatial modulation system, cross Z-complementary pairs (CZCPs) have been proposed as training sequences. The zero correlation zone (ZCZ) properties of CZCPs for auto-correlation sums and cross-correlation sums enable them to achieve optimal channel estimation performance. In this paper, we systematically construct CZCPs based on binary Golay complementary pairs and binary Golay complementary pairs via Turyn’s method. We employ a special matrix operation and concatenation method to obtain CZCPs with new lengths 2M + N and 2(M + L), where M and L are the lengths of binary GCP, and N is the length of binary GCP via Turyn’s method. Further, we obtain the perfect CZCP with new length 4N and extend the lengths of CZCPs.

Emerging data-intensive services in distribution grid impose requirements of high-concurrency access for massive internet of things (IoT) devices. However, the lack of effective high-concurrency access management results in severe performance degradation. To address this challenge, we propose a cloud-edge-device collaborative high-concurrency access management algorithm based on multi-timescale joint optimization of channel pre-allocation and load balancing degree. We formulate an optimization problem to minimize the weighted sum of edge-cloud load balancing degree and queuing delay under the constraint of access success rate. The problem is decomposed into a large-timescale channel pre-allocation subproblem solved by the device-edge collaborative access priority scoring mechanism, and a small-timescale data access control subproblem solved by the discounted empirical matching mechanism (DEM) with the perception of high-concurrency number and queue backlog. Particularly, information uncertainty caused by externalities is tackled by exploiting discounted empirical performance which accurately captures the performance influence of historical time points on present preference value. Simulation results demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm in reducing edge-cloud load balancing degree and queuing delay.

The purpose of Facial Beauty Prediction (FBP) is to automatically assess facial attractiveness based on human aesthetics. Most neural network-based prediction methods do not consider the ranking information in the task. For scoring tasks like facial beauty prediction, there is abundant ranking information both between images and within images. Reasonable utilization of these information during training can greatly improve the performance of the model. In this paper, we propose a novel end-to-end Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) model based on ranking information of images, incorporating a Rank Module and an Adaptive Weight Module. We also design pairwise ranking loss functions to fully leverage the ranking information of images. Considering training efficiency and model inference capability, we choose ResNet-50 as the backbone network. We conduct experiments on the SCUT-FBP5500 dataset and the results show that our model achieves a new state-of-the-art performance. Furthermore, ablation experiments show that our approach greatly contributes to improving the model performance. Finally, the Rank Module with the corresponding ranking loss is plug-and-play and can be extended to any CNN model and any task with ranking information. In this work, the core size estimation technique of magnetic nanoparticles (MNPs) using the static magnetization curve obtained from a high-Tc SQUID magnetometer and a metaheuristic inversion technique based on the Particle Swarm Optimizer (PSO) algorithm is presented. The high-Tc SQUID magnetometer is constructed from a high-Tc SQUID sensor coupled by a flux transformer to sense the modulated magnetization signal from a sample. The magnetization signal is modulated by the lateral vibration of the sample on top of a planar differential detection coil of the flux transformer. A pair of primary and excitation coils are utilized to apply an excitation field parallel to the sensitive axis of the detection coil. Using the high-Tc SQUID magnetometer, the magnetization curve of a commercial MNP sample (Resovist) was measured in a logarithmic scale of the excitation field. The PSO inverse technique is then applied to the magnetization curve to construct the magnetic moment distribution. A multimodal normalized log-normal distribution was used in the minimization of the objective function of the PSO inversion technique, and a modification of the PSO search region is proposed to improve the exploration and exploitation of the PSO particles. As a result, a good agreement on the Resovist magnetic core size was obtained between the proposed technique and the non-negative least square (NNLS) inversion technique. The estimated core sizes of 8.0484 nm and 20.3018 nm agreed well with the values reported in the literature using the commercial low-Tc SQUID magnetometer with the SVD and NNLS inversion techniques. Compared to the NNLS inversion technique, the PSO inversion technique had merits in exploring an optimal core size distribution freely without being regularized by a parameter and facilitating an easy peak position determination owing to the smoothness of the constructed distribution. The combination of the high-Tc SQUID magnetometer and the PSO-based reconstruction technique offers a powerful approach for characterizing the MNP core size distribution, and further improvements can be expected from the recent state-of-the-art optimization algorithm to optimize further the computation time and the best objective function value.

With maturation of 5G technology in recent years, multimedia services such as live video streaming and online games on the Internet have flourished. These multimedia services frequently require low latency, which pose a significant challenge to compute the high latency requirements multimedia tasks. Mobile edge computing (MEC), is considered a key technology solution to address the above challenges. It offloads computation-intensive tasks to edge servers by sinking mobile nodes, which reduces task execution latency and relieves computing pressure on multimedia devices. In order to use MEC paradigm reasonably and efficiently, resource allocation has become a new challenge. In this paper, we focus on the multimedia tasks which need to be uploaded and processed in the network. We set the optimization problem with the goal of minimizing the latency and energy consumption required to perform tasks in multimedia devices. To solve the complex and non-convex problem, we formulate the optimization problem as a distributed deep reinforcement learning (DRL) problem and propose a federated Dueling deep Q-network (DDQN) based multimedia task offloading and resource allocation algorithm (FDRL-DDQN). In the algorithm, DRL is trained on the local device, while federated learning (FL) is responsible for aggregating and updating the parameters from the trained local models. Further, in order to solve the not identically and independently distributed (non-IID) data problem of multimedia devices, we develop a method for selecting participating federated devices. The simulation results show that the FDRL-DDQN algorithm can reduce the total cost by 31.3% compared to the DQN algorithm when the task data is 1000 kbit, and the maximum reduction can be 35.3% compared to the traditional baseline algorithm.

Cooperative Communication is one of the most effective techniques to improve the desired signal quality of the typical user. This paper studies an indoor cellular network system that deploys the Reconfigurable Intelligent Surfaces (RIS) at the position of BSs to enable the cooperative features. To evaluate the network performance, the coverage probability expression of the typical user in the indoor wireless environment with presence of walls and effects of Rayleigh fading is derived. The analytical results shows that the RIS-assisted system outperforms the regular one in terms of coverage probability.

Direct-current biased optical orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (DCO-OFDM) converts bipolar OFDM signals into unipolar non-negative signals by introducing a high DC bias, which satisfies the requirement that the signal transmitted by intensity modulated/direct detection (IM/DD) must be positive. However, the high DC bias results in low power efficiency of DCO-OFDM. An adaptively biased optical OFDM was proposed, which could be designed with different biases according to the signal amplitude to improve power efficiency in this letter. The adaptive bias does not need to be taken off deliberately at the receiver, and the interference caused by the adaptive bias will only be placed on the reserved subcarriers, which will not affect the effective information. Moreover, the proposed OFDM uses Hartley transform instead of Fourier transform used in conventional optical OFDM, which makes this OFDM have low computational complexity and high spectral efficiency. The simulation results show that the normalized optical bit energy to noise power ratio (Eb(opt)/N0) required by the proposed OFDM at the bit error rate (BER) of 10-3 is, on average, 7.5 dB and 3.4 dB lower than that of DCO-OFDM and superimposed asymmetrically clipped optical OFDM (ACO-OFDM), respectively.

The steady-state and convergence performances are important indicators to evaluate adaptive algorithms. The step-size affects these two important indicators directly. Many relevant scholars have also proposed some variable step-size adaptive algorithms for improving performance. However, there are still some problems in these existing variable step-size adaptive algorithms, such as the insufficient theoretical analysis, the imbalanced performance and the unachievable parameter. These problems influence the actual performance of some algorithms greatly. Therefore, we intend to further explore an inherent relationship between the key performance and the step-size in this paper. The variation of mean square deviation (MSD) is adopted as the cost function. Based on some theoretical analyses and derivations, a novel variable step-size algorithm with a dynamic limited function (DLF) was proposed. At the same time, the sufficient theoretical analysis is conducted on the weight deviation and the convergence stability. The proposed algorithm is also tested with some typical algorithms in many different environments. Both the theoretical analysis and the experimental result all have verified that the proposed algorithm equips a superior performance.

Assortment optimization is one of main problems for retailers, and has been widely studied. In this paper, we focus on vending machines, which have many characteristic issues to be considered. We first formulate an assortment optimization problem for vending machines, next propose a model that represents consumer’s decision making, and then show a solution method based on partially observable Markov decision process (POMDP). The problem includes incomplete state observation, stochastic consumer behavior and policy decisions that maximize future expected rewards. Using computer simulation, we observe that sales increases compared to that by heuristic methods under the same condition. Moreover, the sales approaches the theoretical upper bound.

The automatic defect detection for fabric images is an essential mission in textile industry. However, there are some inherent difficulties in the detection of fabric images, such as complexity of the background and the highly uneven scales of defects. Moreover, the trade-off between accuracy and speed should be considered in real applications. To address these problems, we propose a novel model based on YOLOv4 to detect defects in fabric images, called Feature Augmentation YOLO (FA-YOLO). In terms of network structure, FA-YOLO adds an additional detection head to improve the detection ability of small defects and builds a powerful Neck structure to enhance feature fusion. First, to reduce information loss during feature fusion, we perform the residual feature augmentation (RFA) on the features after dimensionality reduction by using 1×1 convolution. Afterward, the attention module (SimAM) is embedded into the locations with rich features to improve the adaptation ability to complex backgrounds. Adaptive spatial feature fusion (ASFF) is also applied to output of the Neck to filter inconsistencies across layers. Finally, the cross-stage partial (CSP) structure is introduced for optimization. Experimental results based on three real industrial datasets, including Tianchi fabric dataset (72.5% mAP), ZJU-Leaper fabric dataset (0.714 of average F1-score) and NEU-DET steel dataset (77.2% mAP), demonstrate the proposed FA-YOLO achieves competitive results compared to other state-of-the-art (SoTA) methods.

The segmentation performance of fresh tea sprouts is inadequate due to the uncontrollable posture. A novel method for Fresh Tea Sprouts Segmentation based on Capsule Network (FTS-SegCaps) is proposed in this paper. The spatial relationship between local parts and whole tea sprout is retained and effectively utilized by a deep encoder-decoder capsule network, which can reduce the effect of tea sprouts with uncontrollable posture. Meanwhile, a patch-based local dynamic routing algorithm is also proposed to solve the parameter explosion problem. The experimental results indicate that the segmented tea sprouts via FTS-SegCaps are almost coincident with the ground truth, and also show that the proposed method has a better performance than the state-of-the-art methods.

Traditional intuitionistic fuzzy sets and hesitant fuzzy sets will lose some information while representing vague information, to avoid this problem, this paper constructs weighted generalized hesitant fuzzy sets by remaining multiple intuitionistic fuzzy values and giving them corresponding weights. For weighted generalized hesitant fuzzy elements in weighted generalized hesitant fuzzy sets, the paper defines some basic operations and proves their operation properties. On this basis, the paper gives the comparison rules of weighted generalized hesitant fuzzy elements and presents two kinds of aggregation operators. As for weighted generalized hesitant fuzzy preference relation, this paper proposes its definition and computing method of its corresponding consistency index. Furthermore, the paper designs an ensemble learning algorithm based on weighted generalized hesitant fuzzy sets, carries out experiments on 6 datasets in UCI database and compares with various classification algorithms. The concepts of programmable switches and software-defined networking (SDN) give developers flexible and deep control over the behavior of switches. We expect these concepts to dramatically improve the functionality of switches. In this paper, we focus on the concept of Deeply Programmable Networks (DPN), where data planes are programmable, and application switches based on DPN. We then propose a method to improve the performance of a key-value store (KVS) through an application switch. First, we explain the DPN and application switches. The DPN is a network that makes not only control planes but also data planes programmable. An application switch is a switch that implements some functions of network applications, such as database management system (DBMS). Second, we propose a method to improve the performance of Cassandra, one of the most popular key-value based DBMS, by implementing a caching function in a switch in a dedicated network such as a data center. The proposed method is expected to be effective even though it is a simple and traditional way because it is in the data path and the center of the network application. Third, we implement a switch with the caching function, which monitors the accessed data described in packets (Ethernet frames) and dynamically replaces the cached data in the switch, and then show that the proposed caching switch can significantly improve the KVS transaction performance with this implementation. In the case of our evaluation, our method improved the KVS transaction throughput by up to 47%.
