Song-level feature summarization is fundamental for the browsing, retrieval, and indexing of digital music archives. This study proposes a deep neural network model, CQTXNet, for extracting song-level feature summary for cover song identification. CQTXNet incorporates depth-wise separable convolution, residual network connections, and attention models to extend previous approaches. An experimental evaluation of the proposed CQTXNet was performed on two publicly available cover song datasets by varying the number of network layers and the type of attention modules.

Distance-aware quality adaptation is a potential approach to reduce the resource requirement for the transmission and rendering of textured 3D meshes. In this paper, we carry out a subjective experiment to investigate the effects of the distance from the camera on the perceptual quality of textured 3D meshes. Besides, we evaluate the effectiveness of eight image-based objective quality metrics in representing the user's perceptual quality. Our study found that the perceptual quality in terms of mean opinion score increases as the distance from the camera increases. In addition, it is shown that normalized mutual information (NMI), a full-reference objective quality metric, is highly correlated with subjective scores.

In this paper, the quality and transferred data based video bitrate control method for web-conferencing services is proposed, aiming to reduce transferred data by suppressing excessive quality. In web-conferencing services, the video bitrate is generally controlled in accordance with the network conditions (e.g., jitter and packet loss rate) to improve users' quality. However, in such a control, the bitrate is excessively high when the network conditions is sufficiently high (e.g., high throughput and low jitter), which causes an increased transferred data volume. The increased volume of data transferred leads to increased operational costs, such as network costs for service providers. To solve this problem, we developed a method to control the video bitrate of each user to achieve the required quality determined by the service provider. This method is implemented in an actual web-conferencing system and evaluated under various conditions. It was shown that the bitrate could be controlled in accordance with the required quality to reduce the transferred data volume.

Analog beamforming with broadband large-scale antenna arrays in millimeter wave (mmWave) multiple input multiple output (MIMO) systems faces the beam squint problem. In this paper, we first investigate the sensitivity of analog beamforming to subarray spatial separations in wideband mmWave systems using hybrid arrays, and propose optimized subarray separations. We then design improved analog beamforming after phase compensation based on Zadoff-Chu (ZC) sequence to flatten the frequency response of radio frequency (RF) equivalent channel. Considering a single-carrier frequency-domain equalization (SC-FDE) scheme at the receiver, we derive low-complexity linear zero-forcing (ZF) and minimum mean squared error (MMSE) equalizers in terms of output signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) after equalization. Simulation results show that the improved analog beamforming can effectively remove frequency-selective deep fading caused by beam squint, and achieve better bit-error-rate performance compared with the conventional analog beamforming.

The proportion of persons over 65 years old is projected to increase worldwide between 2022 and 2050. The increasing burden on medical staff and the shortage of human resources are growing problems. Bedsores are injuries caused by prolonged pressure on the skin and stagnation of blood flow. The more the damage caused by bedsores progresses, the longer the treatment period becomes. Moreover, patients require surgery in some serious cases. Therefore, early detection is essential. In our research, we are developing a non-contact bedsore detection system using electromagnetic waves at 10.5GHz. In this paper, we extracted appropriate information from a scalogram and utilized it to detect the sizes of bedsores. In addition, experiments using a phantom were conducted to confirm the basic operation of the bedsore detection system. As a result, using the approximate curves and lines obtained from prior analysis data, it was possible to estimate the volume of each defected area, as well as combinations of the depth of the defected area and the length of the defected area. Moreover, the experiments showed that it was possible to detect bedsore presence and estimate their sizes, although the detection results had slight variations.

Ising machines can find optimum or quasi-optimum solutions of combinatorial optimization problems efficiently and effectively. The graph coloring problem, which is one of the difficult combinatorial optimization problems, is to assign a color to each vertex of a graph such that no two vertices connected by an edge have the same color. Although methods to map the graph coloring problem onto the Ising model or quadratic unconstrained binary optimization (QUBO) model are proposed, none of them considers minimizing the number of colors. In addition, there is no Ising-machine-based method considering additional constraints in order to apply to practical problems. In this paper, we propose a mapping method of the graph coloring problem including minimizing the number of colors and additional constraints to the QUBO model. As well as the constraint terms for the graph coloring problem, we firstly propose an objective function term that can minimize the number of colors so that the number of used spins cannot increase exponentially. Secondly, we propose two additional constraint terms: One is that specific vertices have to be colored with specified colors; The other is that specific colors cannot be used more than the number of times given in advance. We theoretically prove that, if the energy of the proposed QUBO mapping is minimized, all the constraints are satisfied and the objective function is minimized. The result of the experiment using an Ising machine showed that the proposed method reduces the number of used colors by up to 75.1% on average compared to the existing baseline method when additional constraints are not considered. Considering the additional constraints, the proposed method can effectively find feasible solutions satisfying all the constraints.

This letter provides an efficient massive multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) detector based on quasi-newton methods to speed up the convergence performance under realistic scenarios, such as high user load and spatially correlated channels. The proposed method leverages the information of the Hessian matrix by merging Barzilai-Borwein method and Limited Memory-BFGS method. In addition, an efficient initial solution based on constellation mapping is proposed. The simulation results demonstrate that the proposed method diminishes performance loss to 0.7dB at the bit-error-rate of 10-2 at 128×32 antenna configuration with low complexity, which surpasses the state-of-the-art (SOTA) algorithms.

In a field of biomedical engineering, not only low-pass filters for high frequency elimination but also notch filters for suppressing powerline interference are necessary to process low-frequency biosignals. For integration of low-frequency filters, chip implementation of large capacitances is major difficulty. As methods to enhance capacitances with small chip area, use of capacitance multipliers is effective. This letter describes design consideration of integrated low-frequency low-pass notch filter employing capacitance multipliers. Two main points are presented. Firstly, a new floating capacitance multiplier is proposed. Secondly, a technique to reduce the number of capacitance multipliers is proposed. By this technique, power consumption is reduced. The proposed techniques are applied a 3rd order low-pass notch filter. Simulation results show the effectiveness of the proposed techniques.

This letter introduces a prime-factor Galois field Fourier transform (PF-GFFT) architecture to frequency domain decoding (FDD) of cyclic codes. Firstly, a fast FDD scheme is designed which converts the original single longer Fourier transform to a multi-dimensional smaller transform. Furthermore, a ladder-shift architecture for PF-GFFT is explored to solve the rearrangement problem of input and output data. In this regard, PF-GFFT is considered as a lower order spectral calculation scheme, which has sufficient preponderance in reducing the computational complexity. Simulation results show that PF-GFFT compares favorably with the current general GFFT, simplified-GFFT (S-GFFT), and circular shifts-GFFT (CS-GFFT) algorithms in time-consuming cost, and is nearly an order of magnitude or smaller than them. The superiority is a benefit to improving the decoding speed and has potential application value in decoding cyclic codes with longer code lengths.

In this paper we obtain a new method to compute the correlation values of two arbitrary sequences defined by a mapping from F4n to F4. We apply this method to demonstrate that the usual nonbinary maximal length sequences have almost ideal correlation under the canonical complex correlation definition and investigate some decimations giving good cross correlation. The techniques we develop are of independent interest for future investigation of sequence design and related problems, including Boolean functions.

A set consisting of K subsets of Msequences of length L is called a complementary sequence set expressed by A(L, K, M), if the sum of the out-of-phase aperiodic autocorrelation functions of the sequences within a subset and the sum of the cross-correlation functions between the corresponding sequences in any two subsets are zero at any phase shift. Suehiro et al. first proposed complementary set A(Nn, N, N) where N and n are positive integers greater than or equal to 2. Recently, several complementary sets related to Suehiro's construction, such as N being a power of a prime number, have been proposed. However, there is no discussion about their inclusion relation and properties of sequences. This paper rigorously formulates and investigates the (generalized) logic functions of the complementary sets by Suehiro et al. in order to understand its construction method and the properties of sequences. As a result, it is shown that there exists a case where the logic function is bent when n is even. This means that each series can be guaranteed to have pseudo-random properties to some extent. In other words, it means that the complementary set can be successfully applied to communication on fluctuating channels. The logic functions also allow simplification of sequence generators and their matched filters.

The frequency hopping sequence plays a crucial role in determining the system's anti-jamming performance, in frequency hopping communication systems. If the adjacent frequency points of FHS can ensure wide-gap, it will better improve the anti-interference capability of the FH communication system. Moreover, if the period of the sequence is expanded, and each frequency point does not repeat in the same sequence, the system's ability to resist electromagnetic interference will be enhanced. And a one-coincidence frequency-hopping sequence set consists of FHSs with maximum Hamming autocorrelation 0 and cross-correlation 1. In this paper, we present two constructions of wide-gap frequency-hopping sequence sets. One construction is a new class of wide-gap one-coincidence FHS set, and the other is a WGFHS set with long period. These two WGFHS sets are optimal with respect to WG-Peng-Fan bound. And each sequence of these WGFHS sets is optimal with respect to WG-Lempel-Greenberger bound.

This paper focuses on a pseudorandom number generator called an NTU sequence for use in cryptography. The generator is defined with an m-sequence and Legendre symbol over an odd characteristic field. Since the previous researches have shown that the generator has maximum complexity; however, its bit distribution property is not balanced. To address this drawback, the author introduces dynamic mapping for the generation process and evaluates the period and some distribution properties in this paper.

Even correlation and odd correlation of sequences are two kinds of measures for their similarities. Both kinds of correlation have important applications in communication and radar. Compared with vast knowledge on sequences with good even correlation, relatively little is known on sequences with preferable odd correlation. In this paper, a generic construction of sequences with low odd correlation is proposed via interleaving technique. Notably, it can generate new sets of binary sequences with optimal odd correlation asymptotically meeting the Sarwate bound.

The calculation of cross-correlation between a sequence with good autocorrelation and its decimated sequence is an interesting problem in the field of sequence design. In this letter, we consider a class of ternary sequences with perfect autocorrelation, proposed by Shedd and Sarwate (IEEE Trans. Inf. Theory, 1979, DOI: 10.1109/TIT.1979.1055998), which is generated based on the cross-correlation between m-sequence and its d-decimation sequence. We calculate the cross-correlation distribution between a certain pair of such ternary perfect sequences and show that the cross-correlation takes three different values.

It has become increasingly important for industries to promote digital transformation by utilizing 5G and industrial internet of things (IIoT) to improve productivity. To protect IIoT application performance (work speed, productivity, etc.), it is often necessary to satisfy quality of service (QoS) requirements precisely. For this purpose, there is an increasing need to automatically identify the root causes of radio-quality deterioration in order to take prompt measures when the QoS deteriorates. In this paper, a method for identifying the root cause of 5G radio-quality deterioration is proposed that uses machine learning. This Random Forest based method detects the root cause, such as distance attenuation, shielding, fading, or their combination, by analyzing the coefficients of a quadratic polynomial approximation in addition to the mean values of time-series data of radio quality indicators. The detection accuracy of the proposed method was evaluated in a simulation using the MATLAB 5G Toolbox. The detection accuracy of the proposed method was found to be 98.30% when any of the root causes occurs independently, and 83.13% when the multiple root causes occur simultaneously. The proposed method was compared with deep-learning methods, including bidirectional long short-term memory (bidirectional-LSTM) or one-dimensional convolutional neural network (1D-CNN), that directly analyze the time-series data of the radio quality, and the proposed method was found to be more accurate than those methods.

An ESL-cancelling circuit for a shunt-connected film capacitor filter using vertically stacked coupled square loops is reported in this paper. The circuit is applicable for a shunt-connected capacitor filter whose equivalent series inductance (ESL) of the shunt-path causes deterioration of filter performance at frequencies above the self-resonant frequency. Two pairs of vertically stacked magnetically coupled square loops are used in the circuit those can equivalently add negative inductance in series to the shunt-path to cancel ESL for improvement of the filter performance. The ESL-cancelling circuit for a 1-μF film capacitor was designed according to the Biot-Savart law and electromagnetic (EM)-analysis, and the prototype was fabricated with an FR4 substrate. The measured result showed 20-dB improvement of the filter performance above the self-resonant frequency as designed, satisfying Sdd21 less than -40dB at 1MHz to 100MHz. This result is almost equivalent to reduce ESL of the shunt-path to less than 1nH at 100MHz and is also difficult to realize using any kind of a single bulky film capacitor without cancelling ESL.

This paper presents an analysis-based design method for designing the class-Φ22 wireless power transfer (WPT) system, taking its subsystems as a whole into account. By using the proposed design method, it is possible to derive accurate design values which can make sure the class-E Zero-Voltage-Switching/Zero-Derivative-Switching (ZVS/ZDS) to obtain without applying any tuning processes. Additionally, it is possible to take the effects of the switch on resistance, diode forward voltage drop, and equivalent series resistances (ESRs) of all passive elements on the system operations into account. Furthermore, design curves for a wide range of parameters are developed and organized as basic data for various applications. The validities of the proposed design procedure and derived design curves are confirmed by LTspice simulation and circuit experiment. In the experimental measurements, the class-Φ22 WPT system achieves 78.8% power-transmission efficiency at 6.78MHz operating frequency and 7.96W output power. Additionally, the results obtained from the LTspice simulation and laboratory experiment show quantitative agreements with the analytical predictions, which indicates the accuracy and validity of the proposed analytical method and design curves given in this paper.

Non-orthogonal multipe access based multiple-input multiple-output system (MIMO-NOMA) has been widely used in improving user's achievable rate of millimeter wave (mmWave) communication. To meet different requirements of each user in multi-user beams, this paper proposes a power allocation algorithm to satisfy the quality of service (QoS) of head user while maximizing the minimum rate of edge users from the perspective of max-min fairness. Suppose that the user who is closest to the base station (BS) is the head user and the other users are the edge users in each beam in this paper. Then, an optimization problem model of max-min fairness criterion is developed under the constraints of users' minimum rate requirements and the total transmitting power of the BS. The bisection method and Karush-Kuhn-Tucher (KKT) conditions are used to solve this complex non-convex problem, and simulation results show that both the minimum achievable rates of edge users and the average rate of all users are greatly improved significantly compared with the traditional MIMO-NOMA, which only consider max-min fairness of users.
