  • Research on the Switch Migration Strategy Based on Global Optimization Open Access

    With the popularization of software defined networks, switch migration as an important network management strategy has attracted increasing attention. Most existing switch migration strategies only consider local conditions and simple load thresholds, without fully considering the overall optimization and dynamics of the network. Therefore, this article proposes a switch migration algorithm based on global optimization. This algorithm adds a load prediction module to the migration model, determines the migration controller, and uses an improved whale optimization algorithm to determine the target controller and its surrounding controller set. Based on the load status of the controller and the traffic priority of the switch to be migrated, the optimal migration switch set is determined. The experimental results show that compared to existing schemes, the algorithm proposed in this paper improves the average flow processing efficiency by 15% to 40%, reduces switch migration times, and enhances the security of the controller.

    The increase in phishing attacks through email and short message service (SMS) has shown no signs of deceleration. The first thing we need to do to combat the ever-increasing number of phishing attacks is to collect and characterize more phishing cases that reach end users. Without understanding these characteristics, anti-phishing countermeasures cannot evolve. In this study, we propose an approach using Twitter as a new observation point to immediately collect and characterize phishing cases via e-mail and SMS that evade countermeasures and reach users. Specifically, we propose CrowdCanary, a system capable of structurally and accurately extracting phishing information (e.g., URLs and domains) from tweets about phishing by users who have actually discovered or encountered it. In our three months of live operation, CrowdCanary identified 35,432 phishing URLs out of 38,935 phishing reports. We confirmed that 31,960 (90.2%) of these phishing URLs were later detected by the anti-virus engine, demonstrating that CrowdCanary is superior to existing systems in both accuracy and volume of threat extraction. We also analyzed users who shared phishing threats by utilizing the extracted phishing URLs and categorized them into two distinct groups - namely, experts and non-experts. As a result, we found that CrowdCanary could collect information that is specifically included in non-expert reports, such as information shared only by the company brand name in the tweet, information about phishing attacks that we find only in the image of the tweet, and information about the landing page before the redirect. Furthermore, we conducted a detailed analysis of the collected information on phishing sites and discovered that certain biases exist in the domain names and hosting servers of phishing sites, revealing new characteristics useful for unknown phishing site detection.

    Efficient multiplexing of ultra-reliable and low-latency communications (URLLC) and enhanced mobile broadband (eMBB) traffic, as well as ensuring the various reliability requirements of these traffic types in 5G wireless communications, is becoming increasingly important, particularly for vertical services. Interference management techniques, such as coordinated inter-cell scheduling, can enhance reliability in dense cell deployments. However, tight inter-cell coordination necessitates frequent information exchange between cells, which limits implementation. This paper introduces a novel RAN slicing framework based on centralized frequency-domain interference control per slice and link adaptation optimized for URLLC. The proposed framework does not require tight inter-cell coordination but can fulfill the requirements of both the decoding error probability and the delay violation probability of each packet flow. These controls are based on a power-law estimation of the lower tail distribution of a measured data set with a smaller number of discrete samples. As design guidelines, we derived a theoretical minimum radio resource size of a slice to guarantee the delay violation probability requirement. Simulation results demonstrate that the proposed RAN slicing framework can achieve the reliability targets of the URLLC slice while improving the spectrum efficiency of the eMBB slice in a well-balanced manner compared to other evaluated benchmarks.

    The existing discrete-logarithm-based two-round multi-signature schemes without using the idealized model, i.e., the Algebraic Group Model (AGM), have quite large reduction loss. This means that an implementation of these schemes requires an elliptic curve (EC) with a very large order for the standard 128-bit security when we consider concrete security. Indeed, the existing standardized ECs have orders too small to ensure 128-bit security of such schemes. Recently, Pan and Wagner proposed two two-round schemes based on the Decisional Diffie-Hellman (DDH) assumption (EUROCRYPT 2023). For 128-bit security in concrete security, the first scheme can use the NIST-standardized EC P-256 and the second can use P-384. However, with these parameter choices, they do not improve the signature size and the communication complexity over the existing non-tight schemes. Therefore, there is no two-round scheme that (i) can use a standardized EC for 128-bit security and (ii) has high efficiency. In this paper, we construct a two-round multi-signature scheme achieving both of them from the DDH assumption. We prove that an EC with at least a 321-bit order is sufficient for our scheme to ensure 128-bit security. Thus, we can use the NIST-standardized EC P-384 for 128-bit security. Moreover, the signature size and the communication complexity per one signer of our proposed scheme under P-384 are 1152 bits and 1535 bits, respectively. These are most efficient among the existing two-round schemes without using the AGM including Pan-Wagner’s schemes and non-tight schemes which do not use the AGM. Our experiment on an ordinary machine shows that for signing and verification, each can be completed in about 65 ms under 100 signers. This shows that our scheme has sufficiently reasonable running time in practice.

    Stochastic Computing (SC) allows additions and multiplications to be realized with lower power than the conventional binary operations if we admit some errors. However, for many complex functions which cannot be realized by only additions and multiplications, we do not know a generic efficient method to calculate a function by using an SC circuit; it is necessary to realize an SC circuit by using a generic method such as polynomial approximation methods for such a function, which may lose the advantage of SC. Thus, there have been many researches to consider efficient SC realization for specific functions; an efficient SC square root circuit with a feedback circuit was proposed by D. Wu et al. recently. This paper generalizes the SC square root circuit with a feedback circuit; we identify a situation when we can implement a function efficiently by an SC circuit with a feedback circuit. As examples of our generalization, we propose SC circuits to calculate the n-th root calculation and division. We also show our analysis on the accuracy of our SC circuits and the hardware costs; our results show the effectiveness of our method compared to the conventional SC designs; our framework may be able to implement a SC circuit that is better than the existing methods in terms of the hardware cost or the calculation error.

    The purpose of Facial Beauty Prediction (FBP) is to automatically assess facial attractiveness based on human aesthetics. Most neural network-based prediction methods do not consider the ranking information in the task. For scoring tasks like facial beauty prediction, there is abundant ranking information both between images and within images. Reasonable utilization of these information during training can greatly improve the performance of the model. In this paper, we propose a novel end-to-end Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) model based on ranking information of images, incorporating a Rank Module and an Adaptive Weight Module. We also design pairwise ranking loss functions to fully leverage the ranking information of images. Considering training efficiency and model inference capability, we choose ResNet-50 as the backbone network. We conduct experiments on the SCUT-FBP5500 dataset and the results show that our model achieves a new state-of-the-art performance. Furthermore, ablation experiments show that our approach greatly contributes to improving the model performance. Finally, the Rank Module with the corresponding ranking loss is plug-and-play and can be extended to any CNN model and any task with ranking information.     Direct-current biased optical orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (DCO-OFDM) converts bipolar OFDM signals into unipolar non-negative signals by introducing a high DC bias, which satisfies the requirement that the signal transmitted by intensity modulated/direct detection (IM/DD) must be positive. However, the high DC bias results in low power efficiency of DCO-OFDM. An adaptively biased optical OFDM was proposed, which could be designed with different biases according to the signal amplitude to improve power efficiency in this letter. The adaptive bias does not need to be taken off deliberately at the receiver, and the interference caused by the adaptive bias will only be placed on the reserved subcarriers, which will not affect the effective information. Moreover, the proposed OFDM uses Hartley transform instead of Fourier transform used in conventional optical OFDM, which makes this OFDM have low computational complexity and high spectral efficiency. The simulation results show that the normalized optical bit energy to noise power ratio (Eb(opt)/N0) required by the proposed OFDM at the bit error rate (BER) of 10-3 is, on average, 7.5 dB and 3.4 dB lower than that of DCO-OFDM and superimposed asymmetrically clipped optical OFDM (ACO-OFDM), respectively.

    This letter studies the secrecy outage probability (SOP) and the secrecy diversity order of Alamouti STBC with decision feedback (DF) detection over the time-selective fading channels. For given temporal correlations, we have derived the exact SOPs and their asymptotic approximations for all possible combinations of detection schemes including joint maximum likehood (JML), zero-forcing (ZF), and DF at Bob and Eve. We reveal that the SOP is mainly influenced by the detection scheme of the legitimate receiver rather than eavesdropper and the achievable secrecy diversity order converges to two and one for JML only at Bob (i.e., JML-JML/ZF/DF) and for the other cases (i.e., ZF-JML/ZF/DF, DF-JML/ZF/DF), respectively. Here, p-q combination pair indicates that Bob and Eve adopt the detection method p ∈ {JML, ZF, DF} and q ∈ {JML, ZF, DF}, respectively.

    Crowdsourcing becomes a popular data-collection method to relieve the burden of high cost and latency for data-gathering. Since the involved users in crowdsourcing are volunteers, need incentives to encourage them to provide data. However, the current incentive mechanisms mostly pay attention to the data quantity, while ignoring the data quality. In this paper, we design a Data-quality awaRe IncentiVe mEchanism (DRIVE) for collaborative tasks based on the Stackelberg game to motivate users with high quality, the highlight of which is the dynamic reward allocation scheme based on the proposed data quality evaluation method. In order to guarantee the data quality evaluation response in real-time, we introduce the mobile edge computing framework. Finally, one case study is given and its real-data experiments demonstrate the superior performance of DRIVE.

When analyzing the load characteristics and synchronization phenomena by using this formula, the analysis results meet with the experimental results.     An efficient optical power splitter constructed by a metal-dielectric-metal plasmonic waveguide with a resonator structure has been analyzed. The method of solution is the finite difference time domain (FD-TD) method with the piecewise linear recursive convolution (PLRC) method. The resonator structure consists of input/output waveguides and a narrow waveguide with a T-junction. The power splitter with the resonator structure is expressed by an equivalent transmission-line circuit. We can find that the transmittance and reflectance calculated by the FD-TD method and the equivalent circuit are matched when the difference in width between the input/output waveguides and the narrow waveguide is small. It is also shown that the transmission wavelength can be adjusted by changing the narrow waveguide lengths that satisfy the impedance matching condition in the equivalent circuit.

    In this paper, we consider distributed decision-making over directed time-varying multi-agent systems. We consider an adversarial bandit problem in which a group of agents chooses an option from among multiple arms to maximize the total reward. In the proposed method, each agent cooperatively searches for the optimal arm with the highest reward by a consensus-based distributed Exp3 policy. To this end, each agent exchanges the estimation of the reward of each arm and the weight for exploitation with the nearby agents on the network. To unify the explored information of arms, each agent mixes the estimation and the weight of the nearby agents with their own values by a consensus dynamics. Then, each agent updates the probability distribution of arms by combining the Hedge algorithm and the uniform search. We show that the sublinearity of a pseudo-regret can be achieved by appropriately setting the parameters of the distributed Exp3 policy.

    Control of complex networks such as gene regulatory networks is one of the fundamental problems in control theory. A Boolean network (BN) is one of the mathematical models in complex networks, and represents the dynamic behavior by Boolean functions. In this paper, a solution method for the finite-time control problem of BNs is proposed using a BDD (binary decision diagram). In this problem, we find all combinations of the initial state and the control input sequence such that a certain control specification is satisfied. The use of BDDs enables us to solve this problem for BNs such that the conventional method cannot be applied. First, after the outline of BNs and BDDs is explained, the problem studied in this paper is given. Next, a solution method using BDDs is proposed. Finally, a numerical example on a 67-node BN is presented.

    A 150 GHz fundamental oscillator employing an inter-stage matching network based on a transmission line is presented in this letter. The proposed oscillator consists of a two-stage common-emitter amplifier loop, whose inter-stage connections are optimized to meet the oscillation condition. The oscillator is designed in a 130-nm SiGe BiCMOS process that offers fT and fMAX of 350 GHz and 450 GHz. According to simulation results, an output power of 3.17 dBm is achieved at 147.6 GHz with phase noise of -115 dBc/Hz at 10 MHz offset and figure-of-merit (FoM) of -180 dBc/Hz.

    A wireless sensor terminal module of 5cc size (2.5 cm × 2.5 cm × 0.8 cm) that does not require a battery is proposed by integrating three kinds of circuit technologies. (i) a low-power sensor interface: an FM modulation type CMOS sensor interface circuit that can operate with a typical power consumption of 24.5 μW was fabricated by the 0.7-μm CMOS process technology. (ii) power supply to the sensor interface circuit: a wireless power transmission characteristic to a small-sized PCB spiral coil antenna was clarified and applied to the module. (iii) wireless sensing from the module: backscatter communication technology that modulates the signal from the base terminal equipment with sensor information and reflects it, which is used for the low-power sensing operation. The module fabricated includes a rectifier circuit with the PCB spiral coil antenna that receives wireless power transmitted from base terminal equipment by electromagnetic resonance coupling and converts it into DC power and a sensor interface circuit that operates using the power. The interface circuit modulates the received signal with the sensor information and reflects it back to the base terminal. The module could achieve 100 mm communication distance when 0.4 mW power is feeding to the sensor terminal.

  • Effects of Parasitic Elements on L-Type LC/CL Matching Circuits Open Access

    L-type LC/CL matching circuits are well known for their simple analytical solutions and have been applied to many radio-frequency (RF) circuits. When actually constructing a circuit, parasitic elements are added to inductors and capacitors. Therefore, each L and C element has a self-resonant frequency, which affects the characteristics of the matching circuit. In this paper, the parallel parasitic capacitance to the inductor and the series parasitic inductor to the capacitance are taken up as parasitic elements, and the details of the effects of the self-resonant frequency of each element on the S11, voltage standing wave ratio (VSWR) and S21 characteristics are reported. When a parasitic element is added, each characteristic basically tends to deteriorate as the self-resonant frequency decreases. However, as an interesting feature, we found that the combination of resonant frequencies determines the VSWR and passband characteristics, regardless of whether it is the inductor or the capacitor.

    Wide deployment of artificial intelligence (AI) is inducing exponentially growing energy consumption. Traditional digital platforms are becoming difficult to fulfill such ever-growing demands on energy efficiency as well as computing latency, which necessitates the development of high efficiency analog hardware platforms for AI. Recently, optical and electrooptic hybrid computing is reactivated as a promising analog hardware alternative because it can accelerate the information processing in an energy-efficient way. Integrated photonic circuits offer such an analog hardware solution for implementing photonic AI and machine learning. For this purpose, we proposed a photonic analog of support vector machine and experimentally demonstrated low-latency and low-energy classification computing, which evidences the latency and energy advantages of optical analog computing over traditional digital computing. We also proposed an electrooptic Hopfield network for classifying and recognizing time-series data. This paper will review our work on implementing classification computing and Hopfield network by leveraging silicon photonic circuits.

    This article reviews the author’s group research achievements in analog/mixed-signal circuit and system area with introduction of how they came up with the ideas. Analog/mixed-signal circuits and systems have to be designed as well-balanced in many aspects, and coming up ideas needs some experiences and discussions with researchers. It is also heavily dependent on researchers. Here, the author’s group own experiences are presented as well as their research motivations.

    Cloud computing has become the mainstream computing paradigm nowadays. More and more data owners (DO) choose to outsource their data to a cloud service provider (CSP), who is responsible for data management and query processing on behalf of DO, so as to cut down operational costs for the DO.  However, in real-world applications, CSP may be untrusted, hence it is necessary to authenticate the query result returned from the CSP.  In this paper, we consider the problem of approximate string query result authentication in the context of database outsourcing. Based on Merkle Hash Tree (MHT) and Trie, we propose an authenticated tree structure named MTrie for authenticating approximate string query results. We design efficient algorithms for query processing and query result authentication. To verify effectiveness of our method, we have conducted extensive experiments on real datasets and the results show that our proposed method can effectively authenticate approximate string query results.

  • An Automated Multi-Phase Facilitation Agent Based on LLM Open Access

    This paper presents the design and implementation of an automated multi-phase facilitation agent based on LLM to realize inclusive facilitation and efficient use of a large language model (LLM) to facilitate realistic discussions. Large-scale discussion support systems have been studied and implemented very widely since they enable a lot of people to discuss remotely and within 24 hours and 7 days. Furthermore, automated facilitation artificial intelligence (AI) agents have been realized since they can efficiently facilitate large-scale discussions. For example, D-Agree is a large-scale discussion support system where an automated facilitation AI agent facilitates discussion among people. Since the current automated facilitation agent was designed following the structure of the issue-based information system (IBIS) and the IBIS-based agent has been proven that it has superior performance. However, there are several problems that need to be addressed with the IBIS-based agent. In this paper, we focus on the following three problems: 1) The IBIS-based agent was designed to only promote other participants' posts by replying to existing posts accordingly, lacking the consideration of different behaviours taken by participants with diverse characteristics, leading to a result that sometimes the discussion is not sufficient. 2) The facilitation messages generated by the IBIS-based agent were not natural enough, leading to consequences that the participants were not sufficiently promoted and the participants did not follow the flow to discuss a topic. 3) Since the IBIS-based agent is not combined with LLM, designing the control of LLM is necessary. Thus, to solve the problems mentioned above, the design of a phase-based facilitation framework is proposed in this paper. Specifically, we propose two significant designs: One is the design for a multi-phase facilitation agent created based on the framework to address problem 1); The other one is the design for the combination with LLM to address problem 2) and 3). Particularly, the language model called “GPT-3.5” is used for the combination by using corresponding APIs from OPENAI. Furthermore, we demonstrate the improvement of our facilitation agent framework by presenting the evaluations and a case study. Besides, we present the difference between our framework and LangChain which has generic features to utilize LLMs.
