RESTful web APIs have become ubiquitous with most modern web applications embracing the micro-service architecture. A RESTful API provides data over the network using HTTP probably interacting with databases and other services and must preserve its security properties. However, REST is not a protocol but rather a set of guidelines on how to design resources accessed over HTTP endpoints. There are guidelines on how related resources should be structured with hierarchical URIs as well as how the different HTTP verbs should be used to represent well-defined actions on those resources. Whereas security has always been critical in the design of RESTful APIs, there are few or no clear model driven engineering techniques utilizing a secure-by-design approach that interweaves both the functional and security requirements. We therefore propose an approach to specifying APIs functional and security requirements with the practical Structured-Object-oriented Formal Language (SOFL). Our proposed approach provides a generic methodology for designing security aware APIs by utilizing concepts of domain models, domain primitives, Ecore metamodel and SOFL. We also describe a case study to evaluate the effectiveness of our approach and discuss important issues in relation to the practical applicability of our method.
This research develops a new automatic path following control method for a car model based on just-in-time modeling. The purpose is that a lot of basic driving data for various situations are accumulated into a database, and we realize automatic path following for unknown roads by using only data in the database. Especially, just-in-time modeling is repeatedly utilized in order to follow the desired points on the given road. From the results of a numerical simulation, it turns out that the proposed new method can make the car follow the desired points on the given road with small error, and it shows high computational efficiency.

A drone swarm is a robotic architecture having multiple drones cooperate to accomplish a mission. Nowadays, heterogeneous drone swarms, in which a small number of gateway drones (GWs) act as protocol translators to enable the mixing of multiple swarms that use independent wireless protocols, have attracted much attention from many researchers. Our previous work proposed Path Optimizer — a method to minimize the number of end-to-end path-hops in a remote video monitoring system using heterogeneous drone swarms by autonomously relocating GWs to create a shortcut in the network for each communication request. However, Path Optimizer has limitations in improving communication quality when more video sessions than the number of GWs are requested simultaneously. Path Coordinator, which we propose in this paper, achieves a uniform reduction in end-to-end hops and maximizes the allowable hop satisfaction rate regardless of the number of sessions by introducing the cooperative and synchronous relocation of all GWs. Path Coordinator consists of two phases: first, physical optimization is performed by geographically relocating all GWs (relocation phase), and then logical optimization is achieved by modifying the relaying GWs of each video flow (rerouting phase). Computer simulations reveal that Path Coordinator adapts to various environments and performs as well as we expected. Furthermore, its performance is comparable to the upper limits possible with brute-force search.

The hardness of the syndrome decoding problem (SDP) is the primary evidence for the security of code-based cryptosystems, which are one of the finalists in a project to standardize post-quantum cryptography conducted by the U.S. National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST-PQC). Information set decoding (ISD) is a general term for algorithms that solve SDP efficiently. In this paper, we conducted a concrete analysis of the time complexity of the latest ISD algorithms under the limitation of memory using the syndrome decoding estimator proposed by Esser et al. As a result, we present that theoretically nonoptimal ISDs, such as May-Meurer-Thomae (MMT) and May-Ozerov, have lower time complexity than other ISDs in some actual SDP instances. Based on these facts, we further studied the possibility of multiple parallelization for these ISDs and proposed the first GPU algorithm for MMT, the multiparallel MMT algorithm. In the experiments, we show that the multiparallel MMT algorithm is faster than existing ISD algorithms. In addition, we report the first successful attempts to solve the 510-, 530-, 540- and 550-dimensional SDP instances in the Decoding Challenge contest using the multiparallel MMT.
This paper concentrates on a class of pseudorandom sequences generated by combining q-ary m-sequences and quadratic characters over a finite field of odd order, called binary generalized NTU sequences. It is shown that the relationship among the sub-sequences of binary generalized NTU sequences can be formulated as combinatorial structures called Hadamard designs. As a consequence, the combinatorial structures generalize the group structure discovered by Kodera et al. (IEICE Trans. Fundamentals, vol.E102-A, no.12, pp.1659-1667, 2019) and lead to a finite-geometric explanation for the investigated group structure.

Type-II Z-complementary pairs (ZCPs) play an important role in suppressing asynchronous interference in a wideband wireless communication system where the minimum interfering-signal delay is large. Based on binary Golay complementary pairs (BGCPs) and interleaving technique, new construction for producing Z-optimal Type-II even-length quadriphase ZCPs (EL-QZCPs) is presented, and the resultant pairs have new lengths in the form of 2 × 2α10β26γ (α, β, γ non-negative integers), which are not included in existing known Type-II EL-QZCPs.
This study develops a new automatic hovering control method based on just-in-time modeling for a multicopter. Especially, the main aim is to compute gains of a feedback control law such that the multicopter hovers at a desired height and at a desired time without overshoot/undershoot. First, a database that contains various hovering data is constructed, and then the proposed method computes gains for a query input from the database. From simulation results, it turns out that the multicopter achieves control purposes, and hence the new method is effective.

Soil moisture sensor calibration based on the Multivariate Adaptive Regression Splines (MARSplines) model is studied in this paper. Different from the generic polynomial fitting methods, the MARSplines model is a non-parametric model, and it is able to model the complex relationship between the actual and measured soil moisture. Rao-1 algorithm is employed to tune the hyper-parameters of the calibration model and thus the performance of the proposed method is further improved. Data collected from four commercial soil moisture sensors is utilized to verify the effectiveness of the proposed method. To assess the calibration performance, the proposed model is compared with the model without using the temperature information. The numeric studies prove that it is promising to apply the proposed model for real applications.

Quadrature voltage-controlled oscillators (VCOs) with current-weight-average and voltage-weight-average phase-adjusting architectures are studied. The phase adjusting equalizes the oscillation frequency to the LC-resonant frequency. The merits of the equalization are explained by using Leeson's phase noise equation and the impulse sensitivity function (ISF). Quadrature VCOs with the phase-adjusting architectures are fabricated using 180-nm TSMC CMOS and show low-phase-noise performances compared to a conventional differential VCO. The ISF analysis and small-signal analysis also show that the drawbacks of the current-weight-average phase-adjusting and voltage-weight-average phase-adjusting architectures are current-source noise effect and large additional capacitance, respectively. A voltage-average-adjusting circuit with a source follower at its input alleviates the capacitance increase.

An aperture-shared multi-port waveguide antenna with multiple feeds is presented in this paper. The antenna consists of sequentially rotated four traditional WR-28 waveguides at 28GHz so as to create a multi-polarized function with decoupling between the ports. In addition, a rectangular DR (Dielectric resonator) is mounted at the center of the four apertures to obtain lower mutual coupling over a wide band and to suppress the cross-polarization in the antenna boresight direction. The proposed antenna achieves high gain of 14.4dBi, low mutual coupling of ≤-20dB on average, sufficient cross-polarization discrimination level at ≃20dB in the 27-29GHz frequency band.

This paper proposes a low-power 100Gb/s four-level pulse amplitude modulation driver (PAM-4 Driver) based on linear distortion compensation structure for thin-film Lithium Niobate (LiNbO3) modulators, which manages to achieve high linearity in the output. The inductive peaking technology and open drain structure enable the overall circuit to achieve a 31-GHz bandwidth. With an area of 0.292 mm2, the proposed PAM-4 driver chip is designed in a 65-nm process to achieve power consumption of 37.7 mW. Post-layout simulation results show that the power efficiency is 0.37 mW/Gb/s, RLM is more than 96%, and the FOM value is 8.84.
Constructing accurate similarity graph is an important process in graph-based clustering. However, traditional methods have three drawbacks, such as the inaccuracy of the similarity graph, the vulnerability to noise and outliers, and the need for additional discretization process. In order to eliminate these limitations, an entropy regularized unsupervised clustering based on maximum correntropy criterion and adaptive neighbors (ERMCC) is proposed. 1) Combining information entropy and adaptive neighbors to solve the trivial similarity distributions. And we introduce l0-norm and spectral embedding to construct similarity graph with sparsity and strong segmentation ability. 2) Reducing the negative impact of non-Gaussian noise by reconstructing the error using correntropy. 3) The prediction label vector is directly obtained by calculating the sparse strongly connected components of the similarity graph Z, which avoids additional discretization process. Experiments are conducted on six typical datasets and the results showed the effectiveness of the method.

Convolutional neural network (CNN) based vehicle re-identificatioin (ReID) inevitably has many disadvantages, such as information loss caused by downsampling operation. Therefore we propose a vision transformer (Vit) based vehicle ReID method to solve this problem. To improve the feature representation of vision transformer and make full use of additional vehicle information, the following methods are presented. (I) We propose a Quadratic Split Architecture (QSA) to learn both global and local features. More precisely, we split an image into many patches as “global part” and further split them into smaller sub-patches as “local part”. Features of both global and local part will be aggregated to enhance the representation ability. (II) The Auxiliary Information Embedding (AIE) is proposed to improve the robustness of the model by plugging a learnable camera/viewpoint embedding into Vit. Experimental results on several benchmarks indicate that our method is superior to many advanced vehicle ReID methods.

SiC-MOSFETs are being increasingly implemented in power electronics systems as low-loss, fast switching devices. Despite the advantages of an SiC-MOSFET, its large dv/dt or di/dt has fear of electromagnetic interference (EMI) noise. This paper proposes and demonstrates a simple and robust gate driver that can suppress ringing oscillation and surge voltage induced by the turn-off of the SiC-MOSFET body diode. The proposed gate driver utilizes the channel leakage current methodology (CLC) to enhance the damping effect by elevating the gate-source voltage (VGS) and inducing the channel leakage current in the device. The gate driver can self-adjust the timing of initiating CLC operation, which avoids an increase in switching loss. Additionally, the output voltage of the VGS elevation circuit does not need to be actively controlled in accordance with the operating conditions. Thus, the circuit topology is simple, and ringing oscillation can be easily attenuated with fixed circuit parameters regardless of operating conditions, minimizing the increase in switching loss. The effectiveness and versatility of proposed gate driver were experimentally validated for a wide range of operating conditions by double and single pulse switching tests.

For formulating Quadratic Knapsack Problems (QKPs) into the form of Quadratic Unconstrained Binary Optimization (QUBO), it is necessary to introduce an integer variable, which converts and incorporates the knapsack capacity constraint into the overall energy function. In QUBO, this integer variable is encoded with auxiliary binary variables, and the encoding method used for it affects the behavior of Simulated Annealing (SA) significantly. For improving the efficiency of SA for QKP instances, this paper first visualized and analyzed their annealing processes encoded by conventional binary and unary encoding methods. Based on this analysis, we proposed a novel hybrid encoding (HE), getting the best of both worlds. The proposed HE obtained feasible solutions in the evaluation, outperforming the others in small- and medium-scale models.

Graph layout is a critical component in graph visualization. This paper proposes GRAPHULY, a graph u-nets-based neural network, for end-to-end graph layout generation. GRAPHULY learns the multi-level graph layout process and can generate graph layouts without iterative calculation. We also propose to use Laplacian positional encoding and a multi-level loss fusion strategy to improve the layout learning. We evaluate the model with a random dataset and a graph drawing dataset and showcase the effectiveness and efficiency of GRAPHULY in graph visualization.

A novel compact 5-pole bandpass filter (BPF) using two different types of resonators, one is coaxial TEM-mode resonator and the other dielectric triple-mode resonator, is proposed in this paper. The coaxial resonator is a simple single-mode resonator, while the triple-mode dielectric resonator (DR) includes one TM01δ mode and two degenerate HE11 modes. An excellent spurious performance of the BPF is obtained due to the different resonant behaviors of these two types of resonators used in the BPF. The coupling scheme of the 5-pole BPF includes two cascade triplets (CTs) which produce two transmission zeros (TZs) and a sharp skirt of the passband. Behaviors of the resonances, the inter-resonance couplings, as well as their tuning methods are investigated in detail. A procedure of mapping the coupling matrix of the BPF to its physical dimensions is developed, and an optimization of these physical dimensions is implemented to achieve best performance of the filter. The designed BPF is operated at 1.84GHz with a bandwidth of 51MHz. The stopband rejection is better than 20dB up to 9.7GHz (about 5.39×f0) except 7.85GHz. Good agreement between the designed and theoretically synthesized responses of the BPF is reached, verifying well the proposed configuration of the BPF and its design method.

Anonymous attackers have been targeting the Android ecosystem for performing severe malicious activities. Despite the complement of various vulnerabilities by security researchers, new vulnerabilities are continuously emerging. In this paper, we introduce a new type of vulnerability that can be exploited to hide data in an application file, bypassing the Android's signing policy. Specifically, we exploit padding areas that can be created by using the alignment option when applications are packaged. We present a proof-of-concept implementation for exploiting the vulnerability. Finally, we demonstrate the effectiveness of VeileDroid by using a synthetic application that hides data in the padding area and updates the data without re-signing and updating the application on an Android device.

This paper proposes a reference-clock-less quick-start-up CDR that resumes from a stand-by state only with a 4-bit preamble utilizing a phase generator with an embedded Time-to-Digital Converter (TDC). The phase generator detects 1-UI time interval by using its internal TDC and works as a self-tunable digitally-controlled delay line. Once the phase generator coarsely tunes the recovered clock period, then the residual time difference is finely tuned by a fine Digital-to-Time Converter (DTC). Since the tuning resolution of the fine DTC is matched by design with the time resolution of the TDC that is used as a phase detector, the fine tuning completes instantaneously. After the initial coarse and fine delay tuning, the feedback loop for frequency tracking is activated in order to improve Consecutive Identical Digits (CID) tolerance of the CDR. By applying the frequency tracking architecture, the proposed CDR achieves more than 100bits of CID tolerance. A prototype implemented in a 65nm bulk CMOS process operates at a 0.9-2.15Gbps continuous rate. It consumes 5.1-8.4mA in its active state and 42μA leakage current in its stand-by state from a 1.0V supply.

Drones have been attractive for many kinds of industries, but limited power supply from batteries has impeded drones from being operated for longer hours. Microwave power transmission (MPT) is one of the most prospective technologies to release them from the limitation. Since, among several types of drones, micro-drone has shorter available flight time, it is reasonable to provide micro-drone with wireless charging access with an MPT system. However, there is no suitable rectenna for micro-drone charging applications in preceding studies. In this paper, an MPT system for micro-drone was proposed at C-band where a lightweight and compact rectenna array with 20-W class output power was developed. Under illumination of a flat-top beam with 203 mW/cm2 of power density, a 16-element rectenna array was measured. The 16-element rectenna was formed with the aid of a honeycomb substrate for lightness and GaAs Schottky barrier diodes for high output. It was 37.5 g in weight and 146.4 mm by 146.4 mm in size. It output 27.0 W of dc power at 19.0 V at 5.8 GHz when radio frequency power of 280 W was generated by the injection-locked magnetron and 134 W was transmitted from the transmitting phased array. The power-to-weight ratio was 0.72W/g. The power conversion efficiency was 61.9%. These numbers outperformed the rectennas in the preceding studies and are suitable for an MPT system to micro-drone.
